Add another NFL box score to check on Sundays as the UK NFL family picked up one more yesterday. The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Kentucky linebacker Johnny Williams to the practice squad. Williams spent the preseason with his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars but was cut on September 5. At Kentucky, Williams was a three year starter at strongside linebacker and led the team with 5 sacks in his senior season.
The linebacker-friendly Steelers and their 3-4 defense could be a great fit for Williams. Hopefully, he’ll see time on special teams right away (they need any help they can get right now) and if he can make the best of his opportunity, maybe we’ll see Johnny get a chance to come in and provide depth in the linebacker rotation.
Congratulations to Johnny, one of my all-time favorite Cats. I hate it that he’s wearing the black and gold, but it’s good to see him getting a chance to live out his dream.
Go NFL Cats.

I’m surprised more people haven’t commented on this Johnny Williams story.
What a great player and person he was and that was a great piece in the Jacksonville paper.
BBN should all be happy for him.
