A few notes for the day:
— John Wall won Freshman of the Week, for the fourth consecutive week. The award has now gone to a UK player in each week of the season, but this could be the exception. Because UK doesnt play during Finals week, there is an opening. Will another team jump through it?
— The UK-UCONN game drew a 1.9 rating, the highest for a college basketball game on ESPN this year. If you think that more of these games are coming in the future, then you are correct.
— Kentucky has now moved up to 3rd in both polls, just one spot behind Kansas and Texas. The Longhorns play UNC this week, giving the Cats a chance to rise again.
— While it has been mentioned on here in passing, Deandre Liggins playing on Saturday means that his previous suspension is now over, and he is back with the team completely. Does this mean he will get real minutes as the season progresses? There is a four game stretch coming where he can work himself into the rotation. Lets see if he does it.
— Saturday’s Cats game is on Comcast Sports South, a channel that most of Kentucky does not get and is not on Insight. It will be interesting to see if the game magically appears somewhere soon.
— There was no podcast taping this week due to the schedules of all the various participants. We get back into it with one on Saturday in Lexington, then one the next week from the Music City Bowl, followed by another in the Hyatt at Rupp after the Louisville game. Lots of guests for the latter two, so stay tuned.

Someone else will likely win the award this week.
There should be more “big” games like this at MSG.
Texas will murder UNC and should probably be #1 in the nation over UK and KU at this point.
Good for Liggins. I expected him to be gone by now but glad to see he has paid his dues and earned playing time.
Now everyone in KY will know what it feels like to live outside of the state.
Flying in from AZ just to see Jones & Co. after the Lousiville game.

I am conflicted. I would like UK to rise to #2 but I also hate UNC with ever fiber of my being.

Now these are some fans o’ the week! Man, I miss college.
4)Don’t root for UNC ever, wait for Texas to lose in conference. As long as we finish in the top 4 and get a #1 seed, thats all that matters.

The great 96 team never made it to #1 until after the tourney, I believe. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

for the Lexington folks, I emailed Insight, and this is what i got back:
Thank you for contacting Insight! We actually do not carry CSS channel but for the upcoming UK game this weekend we will be airing the game on channel 17, which does require a digital box, at 4:00pm.

#8…the ‘96 team was pre-season #1 and stayed there until they lost their 2nd game to UMass. Then they were ranked #1 for the last 2 weeks of the reg. season and until they lost to Miss. State in the SEC Tourney Final. Then they of course were ranked #1 after the NCAA Tourney.

Does ESPN even watch the games they don’t show? I’m talking about their statement in the rankings article that UK beat IU on the stellar play of Wall, while in fact it was the stellar play of Bledsoe that helped us win the game.

Not rooting for Texas, but they will annihilate UNC. They are HUGE.
The only way to stop them on the interior is for Tyler Zeller to voltron on the back of Ed Davis and have the Wear Bros become his arms.

I’m surprised that’s all it drew for a rating. In comparison, RAW(pro wrestling) draws a 3.2 consistently.

I would be interested in finding out where some of you found this is on ESPN 360, I have been all over ESPN’s site, and the only thing I could find is it was going to be on ESPN Full Court, which is different from 360.
