Took me a while to figure out who to honor with tonight’s N&V post. But the best nominee scored 23 points on 8-10 FG, 4-5 3FG and 3-4 FT — Eric “Boo Boo” Bledsoe. His hot night helped force the Hoosiers to abandon a few defensive schemes they had set up for Kentucky, according to IU Coach Crean after the game. Eric also lost 6 turnovers, something that Coach Cal said isn’t a problem when Eric is shooting so hot.
There was other stuff that happened tonight that wasn’t crimson & cream related. To the news!
* The Courier-Journal Notes column reports that Fan Outfitters will start selling a special “Coach Cal Era” tshirt at its store and online Monday. $4 of each $14.99 shirt sold will benefit Calipari Family Foundation for Children. The actual beneficiaries of the donations will be selected from the foundation by an online voting process on CoachCal.com next month.
* In other “Universities with Large Cats As Mascots” news, the the West Carolina Catamounts beat Louisville by the score of 91-83. The Catamounts forced 21 turnovers, caused the Cards to shoot 9-26 3FG (7-18 in the second half) and barely lost the rebounding battle 34-35. After the game, Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino talked about “Day One” a lot and WCU Head Coach Larry Hunter said, “It’s really tough out there when you’re hurt, people playing with bad wrists and those kinds of things. But [Louisville] competed tonight.” The 10-1 Catamounts next face off against Clemson on Dec. 22nd.
* In other SEC Basketball action, Ole Miss pulled away late from McNeese State to the final score of 83-67. Mississippi State “upset” UCLA — “upset” because UCLA is just awful — by the score of 72-54. LSU came back down 10 points to beat Northwestern State 73-62. Despite a roaring start fueled by Mark Ingram winning the Heisman, Alabama falls to Purdue by the score of 73-65.
* If you haven’t watched Mark Ingram tear-filled Heisman acceptance speech, go do so.
* The lucious BTI will be your Blog Daddy today. I know you guys are looking forward to telling him how he’s wrong once every 2 hours. He’s ready; are you?

My new least favourite team is now Indiana. Not because of Crean….. oh no…. I like that guy……. It was the fans……. they our undoubtedly the most obnoxious little pr**ks I’ve ever seen. I hate them worse than the dookies, worse than the Tards from Bob ‘Ville(a), and worse than any SEC team. MOST OBNOXIOUS FANS EVER.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:21 am
ftr, I thought that the game was horribly officiated. The first half against us, and the second half against IU. Horrible no calls and horrible nit picky calls. The least refs can do is call it consistently nit picky or no calls……
December 13th, 2009 at 1:23 am
Congrats to Ingram, but I wouldn’t trade Randall Cobb for him.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:25 am
That’s the reason why I always have and will conitnue to hate Indiana, because of their fans. And I didn’t even live back in the 70’s when the rivalry was just peaking. Even if we continue yo blow them out each year I will still hate them.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:27 am
I would take Randall Cobb any day of the week over Ingram……
December 13th, 2009 at 1:29 am
I must have missed it. How many points did Liggins score today?
I have never had anything against IU (except when they play the CATS). When your team is not expected to be very good, it is good to make the best of the situation. All they are doing is trying to have fun while Crean is rebuilding. Granted, it could be argued that they cross the line a bit but hell, we are talking about college kids here. Don’t think for a second that if Rupp allowed the students to dominate the lower level that Rick, Billy D. etc wouldn’t have some of the same treatment. Laugh it off and chalk it up to the college experience.

This is a video of Jeremy Lin at Harvard, with some Harvard student narrating it. It’s hilarious listening to him, it feels like your listening to a lecture. He even throws in a “boom goes the dynamite” reference, and after a basket, he calls it a “Rondo runner.” That guy is great!
December 13th, 2009 at 1:39 am
Tay, I was born in 88, and I hate Indiana……….. ONLY because of the fans. Most obnoxious fans EVER. At least dookies and vandalies don’t call a player from another team “the derogatory term for a female reproductive organ” also “another name for a cat in which the word starts with a ‘p’” also “……….
December 13th, 2009 at 1:42 am
I wouldn’t trade Cobb for Ingram either, but he is well deserving of the award. Seemed like a
very nice and classy kid at the presentation. Maybe Cobb will get more national recognition next year.

what a great day in sports: Cats improve to 10-0, SEC Heisman winner & Loserville goes down
December 13th, 2009 at 1:51 am
man ingrahm almost had me going to, lol he was so happy.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:58 am
also, i thought that the indiana fans were great. you have to admit, the stuff they do is original and funny as hell.
December 13th, 2009 at 2:36 am
Ingram was a class act…I’m happy for him.
AND, before we get too down on IU fans…I have visited several away arenas during UK games, and fans are just as bad. Every school has obnoxious idiots that say stupid crap. South Carolina has some of the nicest people around away from the arena, but inside that game, the students were yelling obscene names at our players DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM while everyone else was quiet so our guys could hear them…really.
AND(#2) don’t forget the evil Benedict Rick is coming to our house in a couple of weeks. After his extra-curricular activities as of late, I wouldn’t be too quick to pass judgment and look down my nose on the IU folks just yet.

remember the video that was posted here a while back? There was a redneck louisville fan who was bashing kentucky and said that louisville is not worried about John Wall because they got Peyton Siva. I really want to watch that again.
December 13th, 2009 at 3:10 am
14) Peyton Siva? who’s that? lol …..
December 13th, 2009 at 3:32 am
The wheels are coming off the UL bus. Karma’s a bitch ain’t it lil bro?
December 13th, 2009 at 8:07 am
I don’t want to say Ingram didnt deserve it, but Toby Gerhart deserved it more. His numbers were better in every relevant category and he didn’t get pulled from a game because he was ineffective (Auburn). I like Ingram, but Gerhart just couldn’t match the hype of an undefeated team from the SEC.
December 13th, 2009 at 9:14 am
Gotta love those Catamounts. Jan 2nd those filthy birds will think they have been mounted by a BIG cat.
December 13th, 2009 at 9:22 am
The most amazing thing to me about this UK team is the overall poise these kids show every game. Yes, the have lapses, but when it matters they really show amazing composure.
December 13th, 2009 at 9:55 am
I live in Indiana and Hoosier fans are bad, but I grew on the Kentucky/Tennessee border, and there is nothing worse than Vol fans, hands down!
December 13th, 2009 at 9:56 am
17) Ingram played some of the best defenses in college football every week.
December 13th, 2009 at 10:33 am
12 - guess what? Those IU students are NOT original. Crean brought that crap with him from Marquette, and the athletic department hands out those cut-out fatheads when the students walk in for the games.
December 13th, 2009 at 11:10 am
I haven’t heard anyone say this yet, BUT….
Does anyone else find it a little strange that we won our last National Championship 11 years ago, AND John Wall wears number 11?
December 13th, 2009 at 11:53 am
obviously we are getting so much better but has anyone noticed that cousins WILL NOT PASS THE BALL once he gets his hands on it?…if he ever learned to kick it back out and repost he would be so much better….just an observation…. many of his fouls are after he forces a shot he doesnt really have and fouls trying to get it back…
December 13th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
24..Cousins gets the ball, Cousins shoots the ball. I agree with you completely, Patterson needs to teach him how to reset in the post and get better position. But again he is young and is trying to live up to all the hype while Wall goes above and beyond the hype. It’s got to be hard on him. We all know he can do it.
December 13th, 2009 at 1:04 pm
#10 Ditto!
December 13th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
25 - agreed, and that could be the key to our season. Cousins is a black hole right now, and defenders collapse on him knowing this. He is doubled the second he touches it in the post. Yet he has his head down and still tries to throw it up there (he never “shoots” the ball, either).
December 13th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
23) by March, it will have been 12 years
