A few quick notes on the eve the biggest basketball game of the calendar year:
- Bob Ryan, of all people, sings Kentucky’s praises, predicts a national championship while Calipari is a part of Big Blue Nation, and compares the Wildcat HC position to that of. . . Notre Dame football. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that UK basketball is far more influential and pervasive than Notre Dame football, but what do you expect? It’s Bob Ryan.
- The UK Women’s Volleyball team, lead by Lauren Rapp, demolished the Spartans of Michigan State tonight. Rapp and Sarah Mendoza combined for 27 of UK’s 46 kills on the night. That is nothing, though. I once racked up 50 straight kills in Duck Hunt, so chew on that one.
- Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins has been getting some strong run in the lead up to tomorrow’s game. First, Jay Bilas labels him as the X factor of the match-up, then Gary Parrish quotes our favorite starting center’s thoughts about the boys in powder blue. “I’ve seen them,” Cousins said. “I’m not impressed.” I like that kind of bravado.
- Matt Jones has it on good authority that one Lebron James will be in attendance for the epic UNC-UK showdown tomorrow in Rupp Arena. Of course, if you were following KYSportsRadio on Twitter, you would already know this information. I hope Patterson doubles up on some talc at the scorers table and throws a cloud of it all over Tom Leach and the front row.
If you can get some sleep, have at it. Tomorrow is going to be epic.

A win today puts us back with the elite programs. Lebron at the game is big time. Any word on Shaq? Zydrunas? Woo?
John Wall is the next Chosen One!

what guy wouldn’t want to spend his college days playing in front of guys like lebron and drake…quincy miller attended lebron’s skill academy so i’d say lebron knows him, lets hope he tries to persuade miller to play here

When Roy heard that Lebron was coming, he called Braylon Edwards to come down and beat up Lebrons 5′2″, 135 lb friend.

The Fauxhawk puttin’ the smackdown on the PAC-10…
So the question is this: Where would the Stanford women finish in the men’s side of the Pac-10?
I say fifth.
Maybe fourth if they could stay healthy.
Sam Gilbert must be rolling over in his grave!!

Ashley get better and still attending???
How could she get any better???
December 5th, 2009 at 12:59 am
So who does the “Y”? Is it Lebron or Ashley?
December 5th, 2009 at 1:21 am
9–Lebron doing it would be EPIC. What’s going to be really sweet is CBS panning to him in the crowd. UK is going to gain further “it” status with that.

Anyone that Hack job Jerry Tipton just posted

in all seriousness, the chalk throw ala lebron would be epic….
December 5th, 2009 at 1:39 am
Ok, the dunk hunt thing made me laugh at out loud along with the throwing powder all over Tom Leach. But here’s to hoping this is a close game tomorrow, unless we are the ones doing the blowing them out of the water. But I dont see it happening and I am hoping this game is close. Even if we lose, I hope we see a lot of positive from this game. These young guys are truly gonna be tested here and our veterans have got to keep these guys grounded and calm. Any one else think that Ramon Harris will be crucial in this game? Maybe even Stevenson? Stevenson has been showin some skills and can block shots. All guys may need to play because UNC is deep. Here’s to an awesome game tomorrow. It’s like the night before Christmas! Go Cats!

And thats why I love The Black mamba……..
And boom goes the dynamite Miami…
Kobe Bryant
December 5th, 2009 at 2:07 am
My only fear is that UNC has had some tough games against tough opponents already this season, and UK has not. The first 5 minutes of the game is going to be crucial because the new guys are going to see what REAL college basketball is all about. If they keep their composure and roll with the punches, we can win this game. Here’s to an incredible game tomorrow. GO C-A-T-S, CATS CATS CATS!!!
December 5th, 2009 at 4:01 am
If only Lebron showed up in a Kentucky shirt. THAT would be beyond epic…
December 5th, 2009 at 6:50 am
These comments?
Epic.
December 5th, 2009 at 7:22 am
My only concern is that our young guys come out and get a big lead early on pure adrenalyne, then they slack off and don’t know how to close out a veteran team when they’re tired. This is why Rupp needs to be rockin’ the whole game!!

ACtually Christoprher Johns comments are pretty accurate in the comparison of Notre Dame football and UK basketball. Nether has been relevant this decade.
December 5th, 2009 at 9:45 am
LeBron is SUCH a huge deal. To recruits, his presence is probably a bigger deal than anyone but the President. And even then…. On a different note, I would say that the Notre Dame comparison, if anything, is a little generous to UK, only because I don’t think any institution or any program has the sort of wide national support as Notre Dame football. The passion level of the fan bases is definitely comparable, the traditions are comparable, but there are a LOT of Catholics and a lot of people of Irish descent who see Notre Dame as their University, even if they’ve never stepped foot on campus. Plus, think about this: When Billy G got axed, it led SportsCenter. Same thing with Charlie Weis. Even when the programs are irrelevant, their irrelevance makes headlines. ND’s base is wider, but I would say UK’s is as deep.
Go Cats!

If Lebron is at the game,Maggard will try to report it to the NCAA as a possible recruiting violation.
December 5th, 2009 at 9:54 am
I hope King James shows up, but I’ll take a wait and see attitude. I heard the same rumor before Midnight Madness, but if he was there I didn’t see him down at courtside.
Last night I had a dream there was 4 minutes left in the game and Carolina was up by 13. Let’s hope that dream ends up like my dream about hooking up with Jennifer Anniston.
December 5th, 2009 at 9:54 am
In other words, only a dream, before you smart-asses tear me up about it.

Lebron is beast… and SHOULD be there…
December 5th, 2009 at 10:44 am
I may be the only one in the world that thinks this but I’m not real worried if Cousins gets in foul trouble. The Microwave sometimes has the knack to come up huge.
December 5th, 2009 at 11:12 am
LEBRON JAMES UPDATE: my brother is a Blue Coat guy there at Rupp Arena [the guys who show you your seat Cub 101] and he answers the door at the back of the arena and he just called me and said he recieved a SPECIAL GUESTS paper that told him to look for certain people coming through the door. LEBRON JAMES IS ON THAT LIST. 100% fact , this is not a joke
December 5th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
The real difference between UK fans and ND fans=(A) ND football fans are IU basketball fans…(B) All UK fans in Football ARE UK fans in Basketball……BIG DIFFERENCE….
