Being the good UK fan that you are, you already know that Kentucky will be playing UNC this weekend in basketball, in what is officially the “national stage” opening game for the Calipari era. But now, the possibility of another UNC game is looming. The scuttlebutt currently roaming around the UNC websites is that the Music City Bowl wants to create a UK-UNC matchup on the gridiron. Now I am quick to add that during “Bowl Week”, the amount of misinformation you will hear is great, however this matchup does make sense. There is no way the Music City Bowl lets UK drop farther than their tier, and the idea of a “basketball game” on the gridiron, would be intriguing (although it would lead to hundreds of clever columnists writing, “this would be better if it were basketball”).
So what do you think? I know you want a better game…but could you get behind UK vs UNC in Nashville?

I really wish Cats fans would really get loud online about how much we want to go to ATL. I feel like all of the news is depressing right now, and I while I am still completely depressed about Sat night, we need to show that Cats fans are still excited about football. Peach bowl would be unbelievable and we could face someone like Va Tech, heads above UNC. Go Cats. Lets show support

I like the idea of having an annual “This Should Be Basketball” Bowl. UK-UNC, Duke-Indiana, Vandy-UCLA… the list of possible matchups is pretty well endless.

I could totally get behind a UK-UNC matchup. Yes, UNC is also a basketball school but their football program is on the rise very similar to UK’s. This north carolina team is 8-4 with some big wins over Virginia Tech, Miami, Boston College and Connecticut. So we cant write them off immediately saying we deserve a better team to play against, because we might have our hands full with them. We gotta love a chance to beat North Carolina every chance we get.
