I don’t support Rascal Flatts, but the song wouldn’t stop going through my head last night.
So you’ve had a night to sleep on it, does it feel better yet? Through your whiskey hangover and nightmares about Lane Kiffin, have you come to terms with what was one of the most gut wrenching games since the last time the dirty Vols came to Lexington?
Yeah, me neither. (Okay, maybe my temper has cooled a little bit, but the hurt is still there.)
But as many a bumper sticker at the Tennessee Convenience stores will tell you (and I hear they look great on the back of environmentally friendly cars,) “When you find yourself in hell, keep going.” So keep going we will, with only a few glances in the rear view mirror.
Sunday Morning Links:
-MaryJo Perino has a nice write up about the Heartbreak Hotel we all checked into last night, and it seems to envelop how most of us were feeling last night.
-If you want to see someone that feels worse about last nights game than you do, check out the player interviews from the locker room. We’re proud of what you guys did out there, we’re feeling for you.
-As usual, Tru over at ASoB has a nice postmortem summary. He even discusses a logical reason why we may not have seen as much wildcat in the second half (beyond the popular theory that Joker can’t coach.)
-But, for those of you still upset about Cobb not getting the ball, Mark Story has a piece dedicated to exactly that. With some mildly infuriating if not puzzling quotes from Brooks, we are still left to wonder why exactly the ball wasn’t in the best player on the teams hands in the final shot at a TD.
-Yesterday wasn’t a total loss in the world of UK sports, though. If only because Louisville had it worse. Not only did they lose to the UNLV Fighting Derrick Jaspers (who finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists,) they lost their dearly beloved Steve Kragthorpe. CBS covers the situation here, but the most interesting part may be the quote that “(He) just didn’t seem like the right fit from day one.” Even when firing coaches, little brother has to find ways to imitate us. Cute.
That’s about it for this morning. Stick around and we should have a season wrap up, as well as a look at who might be coaching the Dirty Cards next year (hint: it may not be who you think.)
Feel better everyone, it’s a new day.

I’m going to miss Kragthorpe.

All I will say is everyone just needs to start praying Brooks comes back. I have almost no faith in Joker. Im sure I will get ripped for this but look at his track record. I think he is one of those coaches who has decided on his system not taking into account his players and at UK that will always be a problem.

But with Brooks back, we get Joker calling plays. That seems to be the big problem. Randy Sanders should be promoted to O coordinator and let Joker do something else. Also, Lane Kiffin is the biggest prick I have ever seen. What happened to gracious in victory?

3) I hope they all come back, but something has got to change immediately… our last three losses have been surprisingly devoid of our best player come crunch time. I’m not saying that this is the case, but how does that happen unless someone has money riding on a UK loss?

#5.. I don’t believe that for a second, but I will say that as an explanation it’s more believable than the nonsense that Brooks has been trying to sell us.

I feel great. Thanks for asking!

Macon you suck.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
Brooks actually said “we aren’t expert enough to run the Wildcat in the last two minutes”!!!!!! Unbelievable, I think we still ran the damn ball twice. That is the most unbelievable bull crap answer I have ever heard….

It’s 12:45 the next day. I feel like I’ve been kicked in the nuts, my wife has left me, and Mike Vick just choked my dog to death. Other than that, I feel great.

What kind of lube did that dude use on you last night Macon? Did you put a Lane Kiffen mask on him?

What hurts the most is poor coaching and the acceptance of mediocrity.

I have been wrestling with last night’s loss all night and this morning. I was very disappointed and sad. The losing streak to UT defies logic and then I had an epiphany. Would I as a UK fan trade the expectation of our basketball program winning a national title for 25 straight victories over UT. Absolutely not. You must realize that to Tennesse fans, football is their identity and beating Kentucky and becoming irrelevant on the national scene is not a good trade off. I support Kentucky football with my heart and soul, but a 7-5 season and four straight bowl appearances is an incredible achievement. The streak will end some day, however, I do not see Tennessee football returning to SEC prominence much less on the national scene. The competition is to tough and Tennessee will continue to fall behind the traditional SEC powers and UT basketball will never be a national power. Let UT enjoy the day as they know beating UK is not the ultimate goal which they are striving to achieve. We are going to a bowl and a chance to win 8 games. What a great accomplishment. By the way, you have to love the passion and support provided by the UK crowd last night. I feel better and as I have always stated, wait till next year. GO BIG BLUE!!
