When you lose for the 25th straight time, you dont have a lot to say. But here are three things:
1. I dont understand how you dont win or lose this game with Randall Cobb’s hands on the ball. After Cobb in the Wildcat took the team to the brink of a touchdown and 2nd and 7 from the ten, he didnt touch the ball on the next two plays. And once again, on third down they ran QB keeper with Newton and not Cobb. I just dont get it. Randall Cobb is the best playmaker on the field. I will take my success or failure on his hands…and once again, that is not what the playcallers decided to do.
2. In reality, the Cats didnt deserve to win. However fortune played into their hands and they had a chance to make it happen. But the reality is that Kentucky was outplayed in the second half fairly substantially. Adjustments were made at the half, and UT committed more to stopping the run and hit big 3rd and longs on offense. After the game, Lane Kiffin said, “its still Tennessee and its still Kentucky.” Unfortunately, at least when these two teams play each other, he is correct.
3. The bowl scenario is wide open. I spoke at length with three of the four bowl guys there (Chik Fil A, Music City and Liberty) and the whole thing is wide open. Two teams are the BCS, Ole Miss in the Capitol One and LSU in the Cotton Bowl. But then there are six teams that are 7-5 and six bowl games. The order could go in any direction:
Outback
Chik Fil A
Music City
Liberty
Papa Johns
Independence
Kentucky
Tennessee
Georgia
South Carolina
Auburn
Arkansas
This is important: WHO BEAT WHO DOES NOT MATTER IN THIS SCENARIO. They will go with the teams the various bowls want. Kentucky likely wont be in Liberty or Papa Johns because both are January 2, the same day Kentucky plays Louisville in basketball. The Outback is likely to pick Tennessee for a return to Tampa for the Kiffin boys. That means it is either Chik Fil A, Music City or Independence. My money is on Music City, but I think any of the three are still realistically possible. Either way, we will likely know by Monday.
I am as down about this game as any football game I can remember. They had it…even if they didnt deserve it. I dont know how you dont ride Cobb wherever he takes you. But it is what it is. Still a very good season for this program and it exceeded my expectation. But losing to Tennessee year after year doesnt get any easier.

The University of Tennessee be a bunch of snitches and they need to be shanked. Fo Real.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:49 am
Four straight bowls!!!!!!! Lets win the damn thing!!!
November 29th, 2009 at 12:50 am
I don’t like pumpkins.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:51 am
The players did deserve to win!!!!!!
November 29th, 2009 at 12:52 am
tennessee still proves to have the most classless fans you could possibly encounter in the SEC. rushing an opposing teams field? their a disgrace to the SEC, If couldn’t wish for more than a pileup on jelico tonight.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:53 am
5 - The best way to put a Tennessee fan in their place is to beat Tennessee. The real disgrace was the guy up in the press box with headphones on calling the plays.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:55 am
5) I’ll get the knives, we’ll get together, and we will shank ‘em. I carved and molded the knives out of my roomie’s dreadlocks. We need to go represent and lay claim to our territory dawg!
November 29th, 2009 at 12:57 am
7 - No doubt, lets wear UT jerseys, and claim we play for the Vols that way charges will be dismissed and we can be back at work Monday morning.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:04 am
while i was leaving the stadium some drunk UT fan was yelling out of the passenger side window of a escalade and i kept asking him how many convenient stores did they have to rob to buy that, or did they just steal it on their way here from some hard working kentuckian?
November 29th, 2009 at 1:04 am
Until we have an administration committed to more from the football program, we’re going to have to deal with the reality of 7 wins being our ceiling and needing a miracle for 8 wins. God knows, it’s still a hell of a lot better than the Bill Curry era. We can want more, and expect more, but that has already set us up for inevitable disappointment.
Speaking of reality, I’d love to hear one head coach (not named Rich or Joker) who can honestly justify not going to Cobb at crunch time on that last drive (or any other crunch time)….
November 29th, 2009 at 1:05 am
Matt you could of at least used a picture of a pretty UT cheerleader… oh yeah, nevermind…..
November 29th, 2009 at 1:06 am
Good summary, Matt. I think you’ve got the proper balance.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:06 am
I hate to hear Kiffin gloating at our expense. When all is said in done I hope he gets what he deserves. Why talk like that? Why? You won…just like Tennessee has done the past 25 times. Hardesty made us look terrible on run D. You all won. You all won. You all won. Why talk? As much as I hate to root for the Gators, the Gamecocks, or the Tide, I will be on their side every single time they play UT until Kiffin is gone.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:07 am
I wonder what it feels like to be an SEC football team and be able to say as a fan you have beaten a team 25 straight times.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:08 am
Joker needs to be fired. At the very least, we need to reevaluate the “head coach in waiting”
situation. Joker is incompetent, obviously.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:11 am
Not using Cobb is like Florida not using Tebow… it doesn’t make sense. There is a reason that you give it to Cobb even when everybody expects it. He still gives you the best chance at winning.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:13 am
16- They probably expected it by the 3rd straight time they ran the same play after the fumble, didn’t cause too much of a problem.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:17 am
Joker isn’t going anywhere. Can you imagine the public fallout UK would face for dumping an African-American coach-in-waiting before he even had a chance as a HC? You cannot do that…we’d never hear the end of ‘UK is racist’ on the recruiting trail. I’m not totally convinced he deserves a shot based on his performance as an assistant, but he’s gonna get one. It’s up to us how we manage our expectations….but thinking UK is on the verge of the next level is certifiably insane.
My solution is just to root for the players and not-live-and-die with coaching stupidity….it will not be easy.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:19 am
We didn’t win the game on offense.
We lost it on defense.
If you don’t believe me, look at the box score. Morgan Newton can look at the box score too.
He will take this loss HARD, he said in the locker room he can’t look any of the seniors in the eye. Let see if Morgan puts 365 days of blood sweat and tears into some paydirt.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:21 am
Hopefully when Joker takes over he will allow the OC to call plays, maybe Randy will be better!
November 29th, 2009 at 1:22 am
Morgan Newton owes Joker Phillips 52 weekends starting now.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:25 am
19 - The ball was inside the 10 yard line with less than 2 minutes to go 1st and goal. F the game stats and box score. The players were in position to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cobb does not touch it and we resorted on a freshman QB to sweep it with Cobb as his blocker.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:25 am
A very very disappointing loss. Say what you will about play calling etc. The fact is that UK will never be able to truly compete with the top dogs in the SEC without getting great players, lots of great players. The trick to competing at a high level in college football (or basketball for that matter) is to recruit high-level athletes who are coachable. The players left it all on the field tonight but in the end the team just didn’t have the horses. Until there is a serious upgrade in talent UK will continue to struggle against the top teams.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:29 am
23 - That’s incorrect. UK’s pathetic talent was in position to win tonight. Unfortunately the team’s top offensive threat was relegated to blocking duties on the single most important offensive play of the year.
If UK hoops needed a last second 3 to tie or win, what would you do if the play was ran for Cousins to take that shot?????
November 29th, 2009 at 1:37 am
The Defense played like they did, because they were on the field 80% of the time in the second half. Why? Because of Joker’s play calling.
Anyone know how many touches Locke had in the 2nd half?
November 29th, 2009 at 1:39 am
25 - All I know is that Locke did not touch it on that sweep but instead a heavy foot frosh QB was asked to turn the corner with the game on the line.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:42 am
#23 - ukaltheway - Serious upgrade in talent? We beat Georgia and Auburn on the road.
Freshman QB. 10-22 69 Yards
Kentucky Receiving
………… REC . YDS . TD
C. Matthews . 2 .. 38 … 0
D. Locke …. 3 .. 33 … 0
R. Cobb ….. 4 .. 24 … 0
M. Allen …. 1 … 3 … 0
K. Lanxter .. 1 … 2 … 0
We have a lot of talent at UK now thanks to Brooks and Joker. More so than under any previous coach going back to Curci, who recruited from the La Grange Prison yard.
We don’t get the number of 4 & 5 star players that other SEC schools get, but that’s been covered on this website before (Kentucky High School recruiting is short in comparison to surrounding states).
November 29th, 2009 at 1:45 am
I truly wish someone would take a stand and call out the offensive and defensive play calling. Year after Year this coaching staff continues to put these players in losing positions against TN. I feel bad for the players. I feel bad for fans that continue to dedicate time, effort, and money to support this losing cause. I call on Brooks, Joker, and Mr. Brown to grow a pair and dial up a play that makes a difference…Please explain to me why you run Cobb, Cobb, Cobb, and then you decide Newton, Newton…I believe the Big Blue Nation deserves an explaination and our money back…The last two times at home our coaching staff can’t get it done at home versus TN. You have two golden opportunities and you can’t get it done…
November 29th, 2009 at 1:46 am
26 I agree with you, that said Locke whiffed on that block and i think newton gets the first if Locke blocks him.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:46 am
Back to the basics. Regardless of talented or untalented UK football is, we were in position to win. Joker balked and cost the game. That is the bottomline no matter how KSR or any other publication prints it. The moment Joker decided he was too good to call #18’s number was the moment UT and Kiffin won the game. Good night!
November 29th, 2009 at 1:47 am
I think our fans suck worse than Tennessee tonight. What a bunch of Billy Gillispies.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:50 am
32 - Our fans filled the stadium and gave the players support. Our fans watched the game on ESPNU and gave the network higher ratings. Our fans witnessed an offensive coach blunder the game. Our fans heard Cobb who did everything to win tonight take the blame all on his shoulders. Our fans wanted to win worse than our offensive coordinator.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:51 am
It sure is something to know on the biggest play of he game, we asked Locke and Cobb, the two guys who can advance the ball, to block instead. Way to use their speed and size to our advantage….
November 29th, 2009 at 1:53 am
I live in TN now, and I have to say, TN fans have to be the most ignorant, redneck people to walk the face of the Earth. If any fanbase is less deserving of a 25 game winning streak against ANY team, it’s definitely TN fans. It will take me awhile to get over this loss. The bad part is that little Kiffin bitch is recruitng very well and it’s going to be difficult beating them in the future. It’s depressing.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:56 am
Cheer up guys, basketball season is here. we will beat UT’s ass and go put up #8. Let them enjoy this one, Cobb isnt going to allow this team to lose one of the next two years.
November 29th, 2009 at 1:59 am
Cobb can keep UK from losing if he’s at QB and can audible off what Joker calls.
November 29th, 2009 at 2:12 am
apparently joker and brooks decided not to leave the game in the hands of their playmakers….now thats some playcalling that left kiffin happy…coaching staff just shot themselves in the foot
November 29th, 2009 at 2:25 am
Just got back from the game. This one hurts. The players really wanted it, the fans were there, ready, and backed their team well, but we were short again. It is frustrating. It is painful. When will this end…I can’t answer that, but in all reality, I do not think it will be in the near future. This was the year, and we blew it. Transition year, their talent is down. I know I beat a dead horse, but if Joker Phillips really does become coach of this team, I think we may have reached a plateau. I love Brooks. I think if he were a bit younger, that maybe he would take a little more control from his coordinators. His loyalty to them may be getting him a little this year. Didn’t Brown learn anything from the second half at Georgia last week (pressuring the qb)? Crompton is not a good QB, but we allowed him to be, unlike last week at Georgia. Joker, well, I think he is a poor play caller at best. But a head coach that will play “not to lose” all of the time at a school like UK will never get over that hump. We had a real chance to go 10-2 this year. Yes, we had great wins at Auburn and at Georgia, and negated those wins by blowing games at S. Carolina and to Miss. State and Tennessee at home. Those games were all not only winnable, but after the games, “should have won”. There is no sugar coating this, there is no looking forward…this great class blew a chance at making history tonight. We will never get over that “hump” losing games like this. I know this is a rather pessimistic look at it, but it is reality. All the “do-gooders” at this basketball university will say “well, I would have been happy with 7-5 at the start of the season”…a bunch will say that…I’m sorry, but that is a losing attitude. It is not good enough. Ask those seniors that lost tonight if they are happy with 7-5 and being number 25 for the Vols. This streak will not end anytime soon.
November 29th, 2009 at 2:30 am
This one does hurt but Matt is right in that we did not belong in the game. We were dominated in all stats of the game and the guys showed a ton of heart and fight just to be in OT. I was so sure they could win this year I already bought Outback bowl tix. Guess stubhub will get some business as I don’t want to go, even though I live near Tampa. Hopefully the guys can keep the bowl win streak alive and start winning these type of games, Tenn, MSU, USC etc. starting next season. This team was a few plays away from being 10-2 but also a few away from being 5-7. We do need more talent but are getting the better players and just need to keep improving. C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS
November 29th, 2009 at 2:31 am
And, they may not have “deserved” it based on their second half play, but they did play well in the first half, and, were given an opportunity to win it at the end, IN REGULATION. Cobb got us down to the red zone, then Joker started calling not to lose, again. A good team, at home, takes that game right then and there. Yes, Cobb got us down there…he didn’t get it as much in the red zone, because he was gassed…no excuse, but I’m sure he wanted the ball. But hey, here is a novel idea, maybe use Locke a lot more than we did. Joker runs that same freakin play with Cobb in the Wildcat every play…hand to our BEST runner, Locke every now and then. And Joker, I hate to tell you, but Newton is freakin slow, and does not need to run the ball around the end on that last 3rd down. A block was missed out there, but you know what, if Locke is running that…he at LEAST has the opportunity to (A) outrun the guy to the corner, or (B) break a tackle like he does on almost EVERY play he runs it. Joker does not need to be our next coach.
November 29th, 2009 at 2:42 am
This loss hurts and makes me sad. However, looking forward to the bowl game and getting our win number 8. I was at the game and the crowd was great.
November 29th, 2009 at 2:55 am
Joker CANNOT be our next coach. He has put his incompetence on display several times, worst of all
tonight. That was the worst coaching I have even seen at any level.
November 29th, 2009 at 6:48 am
We did not deserve to win this game, but when the fates align to give you the ball, YOU HAVE TO SCORE A TOUCHDOWN AND END IT IN REGULATION.
Didn’t the same thing happen against Mississippi St? I’m sorry, but I’m not impressed with our head coach in waiting.
UT’s class at the end of the game was very apparent.
November 29th, 2009 at 7:15 am
Joker’s play calling, particularly late in games, is questionable at best. He has, however, had as much to do with the overall new direction of the program as anyone. His play calling is frustrating at times, but I am not ready to throw the man under the bus all by himself. UT outplayed us in the 2nd half on BOTH sides of the ball. If the defense stops the run just a couple of times and doesn’t give up multiple 1st downs on 3rd and 87, the outcome could have been much different. There are plenty of reasons we lost this game.
But the OT play calling - Yeah, that’s a head scratcher. You’ve got to put the ball in the hands of your best player and let it roll. UT did that with that Harnesty guy and it worked out for them. Everyone at Commonwealth and watching at home knew he was getting the ball in OT and it still worked.
November 29th, 2009 at 7:24 am
Has Joker or papaw commented yet as to why Cobb did not run that last play?
November 29th, 2009 at 7:51 am
I’ve read several comments on ’stats’. Well did you ever stop to think that the reason that our ’stats’ were so bad? We sit there and run THREE straight PASS plays knowing that on 3rd and long UT would tee off and send everyone plus the jail bird in on Newton. That was poor coaching that put our true freshman quarterback in very very tough position. Now if we had run the ball some on 1st down and given a more managable yardage to get with pass it might have been different story. I swear I don’t remember seeing second half pass completion, but it was due to in my opinion that the coaching staff had put QB in spots where had was being forced to make tuff plays.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:06 am
I wish all the football players on here griping about why Cobb did not carry the ball at the end of the game and griping about Joker’s play calling would keep this one thing in mind. He may not have had Cobb available. Cobb has been dinged up over the last few games, but that is easy to overlook. There may be an explanation beyond “Joker sucks!”
November 29th, 2009 at 8:53 am
We don’t know if Joker made those last calls or not. Brooks can overrule anything that Joker calls or decide to make the calls himself. Brooks has said before that he’s a traditionalist. My guess is that HE wanted a more traditional looking set with Cobb at WR and Newton at QB.
November 29th, 2009 at 8:55 am
At any rate. We deserved to beat S.Car and Ms.St. and didn’t. We didn’t deserve to beat Auburn and Georgia and did. UK football at it’s finest.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:02 am
47- But he was still in the game blocking..
November 29th, 2009 at 9:12 am
I had trouble sleeping last night, WHY Joker WHY, let Cobb win the game for you
November 29th, 2009 at 9:16 am
joker pisses down his leg in tight games. this has been proven time after time. why would anyone want him to be head coach? i mean, i like joker, but it is what it is.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:20 am
Very painful night. I woke up my kids screaming when UT fumbled at the end. I just knew we were going to win when we got the ball.
Not giving Cobb the ball at the end makes about as much sense as the Tiger Woods cover story.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:48 am
Locke just tweeted: so sick of tired of being sick and tired…. I guess losin to tenn is just part of “UK” thts some bull
And now he’s asking his “real fans” on his facebook page whether or not he should stay for his senior season. This loss may have hurt the players more than we know.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:53 am
Keep in mind, all things considered it was still a pretty remarkable season but Kiffin is right in this sense, UK will never be an upper echelon team in the SEC. Six or seven wins a year looks to be the ceiling.
Tennessee was thought to be in disarray, UK having a good season, yet both end up with the exact same record 7-5. Different perspectives, different expectations.
Again I went to UK and am proud of it but I understand what reality is when it comes to football.
UK’s lot in life for football, is at best to wind up in the Shreveport’s, the Nashville’s, the Memphis’ of the world on bowl day…that’s it.
But don’t despair basketball is truly a different side of the coin.
Mark Liptak
November 29th, 2009 at 9:54 am
uk fans set themselves up for this letdown. after auburn, u all started the “we can win out” talk. we were beyond lucky to beat georgia and our adrenaline kept us in the game against a 20pt better team than us (tenn) for a half. the only way this program ever improves is with the hire of a BIG name coach that will draw big time players and excitement. otherwise we can just hope to upset one sec team a year to think we had a great year.
November 29th, 2009 at 9:54 am
I am starting it here:
FIRE JOKER!!!!!!!!!!
November 29th, 2009 at 9:56 am
56- What are you talking about? How do you figure that Tenn was 20 pts better?
November 29th, 2009 at 9:59 am
im as mad at the play callers as the rest of you…but you cannot blame it all on them(most, but not all). there were penalties on 3rd on 1, way overthrown balls, fumbles, catch able dropped passes, etc, etc. you cannot blame those on the coaching staff. look, instead of bashing the coaches, why not thank them for all they did this year. who picked us beating Auburn, Georgia, and Vanderbilt and having a shot at a New Years Day Bowl???
look, the coaching staff CLEARLY messed up BIG TIME! but give credit, where credit is due and appreciate where they have taken this team this year!
and here’s to hoping when we sweep UT in basketball this year that Calipari says “This is Kentucky and it is Tennessee”
go CATS!
November 29th, 2009 at 10:01 am
oh, and among the midst of this, no on is thanking the seniors for there HARD work they put in. They are the WINNINGEST class UK has ever had. Now, lets support this team and give this senior class support as they ride out in style with a 4th bowl win!!!
Go CATS!
November 29th, 2009 at 10:04 am
I’ve been thinking about this all morning. If Joker’s plan was to just play it safe and go for the tie (which I think it clearly was), why not just run Cobb anyway? I mean, it seems like Cobb running the wildcat is just as safe of a play as Newton handing off to Locke or Newtown running. Plus, it actually gives you a chance to win the game.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:05 am
The only thing that mattered is UK was in position to score with the game on the line Joker gave it to a true freshman on 3rd down and goal to sweep.
Hell yeah Locke is pissed!!! Locke is a 4.3 forty with experience. Newton is playing in his 4th career game and runs a 5.5 40!!!! Joker should be fired for child negligence in ripping the hearts out of the players by calling the plays that last series.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:08 am
60- Yes, their coaches sure didn’t thank them by letting them play to win the game.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:09 am
20 Points Better? You’re a freakin idiot if you believe that. U.T. has the skill advantage in some skilled positions I’ll grant you, but overall I don’t give them much of advantage if any. I’m like most everyone else on the play calling, and it ain’t the first time it’s been a issue. Our defense was flat worn out. I don’t know what the time of possession was, but it had to be lop sided. Newton’s only benefit is handing the ball off and throwing 4 yard screen passes. It’s tough to win against a good defense when that is the case. You have a kicker that is a crap shoot beyoond 40 yards, and no tight end play, at least from a pass receiving perspective. All of these things are real problems.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:11 am
59 - Could you imagine if Cal called the plays like Joker. We would see a set play for Stephenson coming off a screen for a 3-pointer to tie with 5 seconds left!!!
November 29th, 2009 at 10:15 am
You can keep saying what you want. The fact is, the DEFENSE did get the ball back with enough time to score on a UT fumble. Cobb did get the ball inside the 10 1st and goal. Joker then tossed his own salad for xtube with his next three play calles with Cobb being utilized as a blocker. What happened the last century dating back to the Titanic is irrelvant. Joker f’d it up. He did more for UT’s defense than UT’s own defensive coordinator. End O’ Game.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:19 am
Deja vu all over again. Same old Same old. Playing not to lose. I’m putting this one on Brooks. I listened to his post-game and was sickened by his lame excuses, and in particluar, by his throwing Newton under the bus. Papaw, it’s time to call it a day. You’ve given it your best shot (?). Retire, please. Joker is getting all the heat from the fans, but it is YOU who has the final say on play calling and personnel. And YOU have fallen woefully short, especially this year. The mindset of the program really has not changed that much under your tenure. I’m not sure Joker will succeed as head coach, but we are where we are, and we might as well get it started. Thanks Coach for all you’ve done, but it’s time.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:19 am
[...] KSR says UK got what it deserved: “In reality, the Cats didn’t deserve to win. However fortune played into their hands and they had a chance to make it happen. But the reality is that Kentucky was outplayed in the second half fairly substantially.” [...]
November 29th, 2009 at 10:19 am
Whatever. Everybody has their own opinion. THe only thing that is 100% sure is that Lane Kiffen is the biggest piece of shit in college football. His post game comments guarantee that. No class. An armed robber makes a sack in the game. He better be glad he brough his daddy w/ him.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:37 am
50 Conner was not in the game.
November 29th, 2009 at 10:39 am
Out of everything said, it’s the “playing not to lose” comment that is the most true and most pertinent. You just can’t consistently call football games that way on offense. It inevitably leads to games like this one. People won’t say it outside of messageboards, but this is absolutely what you get with Joker calling plays every year — two to three games that you are going to lose completely/solely because of him playing the game not to lose.
And to the person who commented that Newton just didn’t complete a few passes…well, shouldn’t Joker know by the 12th game that Morgan, right now in his career, simply cannot make those passes?
November 29th, 2009 at 11:13 am
Everything I’m reading is saying Music City Bowl. Thoughts?
November 29th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
I just really feel badly for the players. They put it all on the line out there yesterday and came up 3 yards short of a win. Even the defense, which was clearly exhausted and outmatched most of the second half did come up with a great goal line stand… and only gave up 10 points the entire second half.
Mr. Locke… we really appreciate the great effort you and your teammates came up with yesterday. Its obvious from the comments on this site that you and you guys have the support of the fans. Hang in there, we know you guys are doing everything you can to get this program over the hump. And going to 4 straight bowl games shows that the seniors have been more successful than any other class over the past 30 years. Thats saying something.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
#69-There was no armed robber in the game. Lane Kiffen (sic) kicked the robbers off the team.

58) i figure it because i watched the 2nd half. after 30 yrs of everyone looking at us just like vandy (except the big blue dream fans), one would think we would get a clue. just like saban has turned the tide into a powerhouse a great name coach could do the same here but we are happy to set and pray for a .500 year and think we accomplished something by going to a toiet bowl 4 times in a row. tell me how louisville became a powerhouse just a few yrs ago if it was due to no talent in this area?

Hey Macon - what were you thinking after that late fumble and when the Cats were inside the 10 yard line w/ under a minute to go. Wasn’t your biggest fear that UT would not be able to stop Locke and Cobb before they scored the winning touchdown? And then what was your thought when you saw Newton going around right end on 3rd down?
I know my biggest fear in OT was that Compton would just hand the ball to Hardesty like he had the entire second half.
Also, would be interested in your opinion as to why the Cats continue to have such a hard time stopping 3rd and long. I think opposing teams would be smart just to go backward on first and second down just so they can get the Cats in a prevent defense. Its amazing that the Cats seem to be pretty successful in stopping 3rd and short situations - but completely inept at 3rd and long. Come to think of it, that’s pretty much what happened in the OT. On first and 20 from the 35 yard line, it only took UT two plays to score. So depressing…

I haven’t seen anyone mention the fact that NO REPLAYS were shown by our camera guys that would have given the coaches a chance to even challenge. It felt like we were playing in Tennessee. All they kept showing during the game were Tennessee highlights. Not to seem too bitter, the holding calls and blocking in the back calls against our special teams seemed to be all one-sided.

there was no way TN was better than us, if anything they have a Qb who is average. Crompton does not do well under pressure..he struggles under a blitz…the coaches let the game get away from them and they should personally apologize to Cobb and locke. Just disgusted that lame kiffin had to come to our backyard and take it away. is it possible to find a new OC…maybe some with a set of b###

Some of these people saying how proud they are to have a 7-5 record make me laugh. That’s barely above .500, and we’ve been stuck there for several years. You settle for mediocrity when you say things like “We weren’t expected to win seven games, but look how great we are, we won seven!!” “We’re going to a toilet bowl for the 4th straight year, how exciting!”
We shouldn’t settle for a 7 win season, but in reality, Kentucky is to football what Tennessee is to basketball. Occasionally we’ll upset someone and win a few games we shouldn’t, but we’re about as good as we will ever be right now.
Thank God for our basketball program. One more game and we can put football behind us for another 8-9 months.
Long live Coach Cal.

why blame the joker?? we all know that pawpaw could override any call made and we all know that the same call has been made in all three close losses and he knew the heat the fans put on him for not allowing cobb to touch the ball…so it wasnt like this was a surprise to him!
