Back during the Derby Festival Classic, I remember the event was broadcasted online by some site called Wazoo Sports. It wasn’t until today that I found out Wazoo Sports specializes in broadcasting high school sports of particular interest to Kentuckians. And now, Wazoo has teamed up with WLEX in Lexington to produce a TV channel that will broadcast Kentucky high school basketball and football as well as UK games of the past. Consider it an ESPN Classic for only Kentucky viewers.
Wazoo, whose VP is none other than our own Jeff Sheppard, says that on Christmas Day they will be airing “the” Duke game in ‘92. Other games that are slated in December are the ‘96 and ‘98 Championship games. Count me as someone who will be watching, no doubt being nervous still when we’re down 10 to Utah at halftime.
And if you’re someone who doesn’t have Insight, Wazoo will be broadcasting as a subchannel of WLEX on Channel 18.2.

Why would they go and ruin a perfectly good Christmas?

Christmas isn’t perfect unless you are a child.

“The” Duke game from 92′ Why would they do that? I don’t know a single person, that is a die hard UK fan, who can watch the CBS highlights of that game every March. Let alone the entire game.

They should show Stallions games.

We’ll see how long this channel lasts. I know a lot about Wazoo, and I know they couldn’t even pay the high schools that helped them put on their basketball showcases last winter until they were threatened with multiple lawsuits. Don’t trust anything those snakes say. Sheppard might be a basketball hero, but hes screwed more than one high school athletics team out of money. Be leary…
