[Moderated by Matt Jones]

This has been a great night. The UK students are apparently doing the ticket lottery thing as shown above, and Katie Martin’s post was a “knock it out of the park” homerun. In addition, the rise of the KSR Podcast in the ITunes rankings has been one of the coolest things I have ever been a part of. As of this writing, the Kentucky Sports Radio podcast is the #1 college sports podcast on ITunes, the #5 Overall Sports Podcast and the #52 ranked Podcast of Any Genre. That is mindblowing to me and showcases what amazing fans UK and this blog have.
Just for perspective sake, we passed Mike and Mike at 8 pm and are now one spot behind my hero, Tony Kornheiser, on the Sports Rankings. It is pretty amazing stuff and I cant even begin to tell you how grateful I am to the people who help me do this site and you folks that read it. It truly is phenomenal and you are the best.

I FREAKIN’ LOVE KSR!!!UK#1
November 10th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
I always felt I was the best. It’s now been confirmed!
November 10th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
matt, as far as i’m concerned, there are not enough kentucky highlight videos on youtube or exciting wildcat articles peppering the interwebs to keep me even close to satisfied on non-game days. that’s why i’m so glad you started the podcast. i can listen to it over and over until 6:30 friday night, and not get bored. congrats on the stunning success!
November 10th, 2009 at 10:08 pm
Kornheiser better watch his back.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
The podcasts so far have been phenomenal, thanks for doing them.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
Congrats, Matt.
The rankings are awesome; even more awesome are the podcasts themselves.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
Kornheiser was to Monday Night Football as BCG was to UK basketball. They were both the worst thing to happen to their occupations.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
We just passed Kornheiser….I am happy
November 10th, 2009 at 10:18 pm
You see why people wanted your podcasts on iTunes now, huh?
November 10th, 2009 at 10:20 pm
Go Big KSR!
November 10th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
I just got my lowers for the UNC game, I was the second number called, go Cats!
November 10th, 2009 at 10:27 pm
Does anyone need a ticket to the Morehead game sec 234 row C.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
50 people away from the first set called and wound up with no tickets…..awesome.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:38 pm
Congrats! Embrace the technology available, and you’ll be amazed at what happens. Enough success out there and you’ll find yourself back on the radio.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
My group is about twenty groups past what they could guarantee tickets for but I’m not giving up hope. They are going to have to tell me to leave.
November 10th, 2009 at 10:48 pm
Nearly twice as many people for the student lottery as tickets available. I’ve been doin this for four years, only ever seen that many people at a lottery once before. I love the enthusiasm by the student fans, but I just wish my number got called earlier… haha.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:05 pm
I was the one that sent you that pic, Matt. Both sides were completely full. There were people standing in the aisles and in the balcony above the court. Most people I’ve ever seen at the lottery. My number was also about 20 groups past the guaranteed limit but someone gave me there number when someone else gave them better numbers. Ended up the top group of the second column.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:06 pm
As they say, the cream always rises. Pretty amazing Matt. Congrats!
btw - do you know if there is going to be a UK gathering spot in NY before or after the UConn game???
November 10th, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Matt Jones’ Silence is deafening in regards to his reluctance to respond to MM’s accusation about Matt being fired at Coach Cal.com and the fact that we have yet another, “big news coming/big national story coming/political announcment coming” that never happens.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
13. Mr. Mash. I would be interested in seeing about that ticket if it is still available
November 10th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
Tomorrow morning will speak more volumes
November 10th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
That’s awesome. Now you can start calling it “iTunes” and act like you’ve been there before.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
17. To be honest I’m not a fan of the way the lottery is run. I think the first however many people should be guaranteed tickets because they were there first. That doesn’t mean they’ll be guaranteed front row seats but I think that they should be guaranteed a ticket.
November 10th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
#20 MM also said that Will Barton was going to UK and that Billy Donovan was our next head coach. The guy makes up SH*T that people like yourself instantly beleive. Stop drinking the TBK Kool-Aid.

I need E-Zone tickets, if any student got drawn in the lottery and willing to sell them please let me know. text 5.0.2.6.8.0.0.5.4.8.
The Erupption Zone will be a very sad place without me and my beard.

In unrelated news, Maggard has some patented Wall Peels for sale. Get any picture enlarged and placed on your wall! No, they totally aren’t rip-offs of Fatheads!
November 10th, 2009 at 11:52 pm
Up to #3 in sports.
November 11th, 2009 at 12:00 am
24. I tend to agree that it’s run poorly. I think it should be based on seniority, based on hours accumulated while at UK. This random stuff has a habit of leaving the die-hard fans out in the cold, and letting girlfriends who don’t know what a free throw is to get tickets, and guys who just want to sell UNC tix for $200 on Ebay get tickets.
Whatever the case, they need to re-do something.
November 11th, 2009 at 12:10 am
24, 30: When I was at UK 01-04, they made a much improvement in how it was run. From what I understand, at least now, everyone is out in a couple hours unlike in 2001 when people would literally be there until 1:00 am and not know if their number has been called or not.
Maybe they should do it NBA lotto style where numbers 0-50 get a better shot than 3000-3050, but it’s still a drawing.

Hey, how can I view the rankings? Any link you all could post up for me so I could just constantly refresh whenever I want the new ranking? (She said a lot but she didn’t say that, Oh no she didn’t!)
November 11th, 2009 at 12:16 am
19) Jack Dempsey’s on 33rd St. (between 5th Ave and Broadway, I believe)
November 11th, 2009 at 12:20 am
32.) Just click the link Matt gave and then go back on the tabs in the upper left corner until you get to sports podcasts.
November 11th, 2009 at 12:25 am
By the way, KSR podcasts now sit at the #3 slot for sports and #30 overall. UK athletics are more important than Bill Simmons, The New Yorker, Google, and Harvard’s Business Ideas.
November 11th, 2009 at 12:39 am
31 I didn’t leave until about 11:30 and they were still calling numbers, so it’s not that much better.
November 11th, 2009 at 12:39 am
By the way, anyone else notice that the guy on the bottom right looks like Gary Berteer from “Remember the Titans.”
November 11th, 2009 at 12:51 am
Living in Florida it’s hard to find Kentucky news. KSR is our pipeline and we thank Matt and the Staff for putting in the time and giving us the pleasure of keeping up with our Cats. Keep up the good job and GOOO CATS

26) Sweet Video man

27. You gave me pizza at the Campbellsville Game and Sprite too. I hope someone gives you a ticket. It seems like you, the dude with the afro, the two guys who wear the masks, and the Patrick Sparks two thumps up guy, are there every game. It would not be the same without you.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:54 am
#25- you must not read my other posts. I am the biggest maggard critic on the net. I coined the term, “frosty tips”. That’s why I want Matt to prove him wrong and address the bull ish rumors that maggard is spreading.
Further, I wish Matt wouldn’t pull the age old, ” big news is coming”, ” big announcment is coming” and then it never comes.
Matt is Better than that. He isn’t maggard or Dave kersey. But lately, it seems he has resorted to their tactics…
November 11th, 2009 at 9:10 am
40. Thanks, It will tho. only 2 people in our normal group were able to even get seats. so the likelihood is that the Ezone will be very tame for the next few games without us starting all the chants. UK continues to drop the ball in their abilities to disperse student tickets. It needs to be on a first come first serve basis and simply allow the first 3400 students to arrive be given a number and let enter Memorial to purchase tickets. This current nonsense I could show up 5 hours early and could get no tickets while a guy that showed up 15 minute late does. I know this from personal experience last night..
