The late night post tonight is one that is going to be aimed at teaching a little (recent) history to UK fans that read this site. When we were doing the podcast (linked again below), I realized that there are a lot of young fans of the Cats who simply dont know about the days of the past. With that in mind, a reader sent in these pictures of Joe B. Hall Wildcat Lodge in the mid 80s…and I thought the fans would enjoy them on a Monday night:
Kenny Walker Getting Makeup for Halloween:

#1… For younger Kentucky fans Rob Lock was NEVER the man. He was the source of many verbal obscenities and shoes thrown at T.V.’s while at UK.

He must not be much of the man cuz I’ve never heard of him. And if you didnt say that was Kenny Walker I woulda never known it lol. That was a good make up job.

4) You beat me to it! Rob Lock was ABSOLUTELY the source of thousands of verbal obscenities and shoes thrown at TV’s! I can remember watching games with my parents (I was about 10-12 when Lock was at UK) and I can clearly remember my Dad dropping f-bombs over Lob Rock doing something stupid…HAHAHAHAHA!
Good times!

5) Good lord, you’re just a pup, aren’t you?
November 9th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
i’m 23 and consider myself an above-averaged fan as far as knowledge of our team’s history, and i dont know who the hell rob lock is/was
then again, in 20 years i’ll probably find it unbelievable that some “pup” has no idea who antwain barbour is/was

What was the “big” political announcement made on this site last week? I don’t think I ever saw it.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Man, we are going to slaughter North Carolina this year. I had my doubts, but after watching them play FIU (who had no defense to speak of and missed 800000 open looks) I have absolutely no worries.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:12 pm
10- What? So you’ve made a final judgment on UNC after watching them play 1 game against a below-average opponent and a final judgment on UK even though we haven’t played yet? That’s pretty interesting.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
I can also say that after seeing the class of 2010’s recruits for UK on youtube and having never seen UNC’s recruits….that we will
dominate them next year as well.
November 9th, 2009 at 9:30 pm
No 11. Just seeing the play style and athleticism. There is a huge difference. I am not worried.

November 9th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
yeah I’m 24, so I early 90s is when I start to remember.
November 9th, 2009 at 10:13 pm
13- A huge difference based on what? Our game with Clarion? The BBM dunk contest?
November 9th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Ahhh good ol’ Lob Rock. One thing I hope is that his son get’s his size and his mothers ability to score and comes to UK like they both did. If that is the case then look out, might have a new scoring leader.

#8 - Sir, Antwain Barbour is no Rob Lock!
I used to laugh obnoxiously at Lock when he was getting manhandled by Uwe Blob (sp?). My dad busted on him and Rhodes and eventually just said “them boys are stupid”
November 9th, 2009 at 10:46 pm
Good ‘ol Lob Rock! If memory serves he had the unfortunate task of filling in the shoes of not only Mel Turpin and Sam Bowie, but also of 7′4 German center Gunther Benke, who left UK after just a few days on campus due to homesickness. I liked ‘ol Rob, but boy did he bear the brunt of the Cat faithful!
November 9th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
I’m 36, and I remember Rob Lock very well. I agree with #21. I liked Lock, and thought he just got a hard time from the Cat faithful because he was the least talented of all the starters. He played with Davender, Chapman, and Bennett. I think the fifth starter was Cedric Jenkins.

What did Rob Lock and Billy Graham have in common?
November 10th, 2009 at 11:40 am
No wonder Lock wants nothing to do with this program anymore.
November 12th, 2009 at 1:21 am
Rob Lock was a p-hound! I remeber that much. If it wasn’t for my charm and good looks, he might have gotten my woman away from me.
