[Moderated by Matt Jones]

Sunday morning is normally full of political yacking, especially when Beisner only bolds certain sentences. They would all easily be controlled by the great John McLaughlin, who’s iron fist and steel tongue can bend the will of any pundit and talking head. When Matt asks me to cover for him on the podcast — not if, when — I’m going to be screaming “WRONG!” and making crazy mispronounced nicknames.
Anyway, here’s a few things to talk about this morning.
ISSUE #1 — LESLIE KNOWS BEST!
Adam Zagoria spoke today with Lisa Leslie, the mother of UK Basketball Recruit C. J. Leslie. In her conversation with Adam, Lisa mentioned that C.J. will have to reschedule his visit to Florida (slated to happen this weekend), as there was a scheduling conflict with his high school team. Lisa said that they will take 4 more official visits (including one to Florida) sometime in the Spring. Lisa said that C.J. will probably wait until the spring to declare, and he doesn’t consider Kentucky a favorite or leader for his choice.
You can cross-reference this interview with Dustin’s interview with C.J. after the Blue-White game. But I also found the following interesting:
Lisa said North Carolina was supposed to come for an in-home visit, but cancelled because they decided instead to focus on Harrison Barnes, the nation’s No. 2 recruit.
“Roy [Williams] must feel pretty comfortable with Barnes because Coach [Steve] Robinson called us and they were saying they didn’t want to hinder C.J.’’s recruiting by putting us on hold to see whether Harrison Barnes was going to take the scholarship,” she said.
“Coach Williams told C.J. he really wanted him, he just wishes he has one more scholarship. That was the turnaround with North Carolina.”
Question: Will this inspire another panic round of “Why Can’t Kentucky Win Recruits”, despite having just secured one of the best recruiting classes in the nation?
ISSUE #2 — U-CAN PLAY!
ESPN reports that UConn senior G Jerome Dyson and junior G Donnell Beverly have been cleared to play this season. The school’s compliance department issued the all-clear on Friday. NBE Basketball Report hints why the guards were held out and vetted again:
As for Dyson and Beverly the curcumstances are a bit more unclear as the name Josh Nochimson seems to be involved with their matter. As you will recall, it was Nochimson that was the center of the Yahoo! Sports report last March that accused Nochimson, a former UConn manager, and the Huskies of NCAA violations in the recruitment of Nate Miles.
While Dyson and Beverly were held out pending what a UConn press release called “routine educational document review,” the Waterbury Republican-American reported Wednesday night that according to a source the NCAA has requested “documentation” from Dyson and Beverly in regard to contact with Nochimson. According to this source, Dyson and Beverly had yet to hand over said documentation which was believed to be cell phone records.
Former UConn player Rip Hamilton filed a lawsuit against Nochimson in May 2009. Rip’s lawsuits alleges that Nochimson stole about $1 million dollars while under employ as a business manager for the Detroit Piston guard.
Question: How long before Pat Forde attempts to link Nochimson with Calipari?

2. Why are you happy for the warrentless slaughter of natural selection? Natural selection is what got the human race where it is today. We snuffed out the neanderthals, the native peoples of the country we now reside on (for the most part), and we’re getting closer to snuffing out those horrible manatees. THIS IS SPARTA!

Did Pat Forde jump on the UK bandwagon or something?
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/columns/story?columnist=bilas_jay&id=462 7674
Pat Forde: John Calipari against the world. He moves into a new realm of prestige, a new power conference and a new tax bracket after his bank-breaking move from Memphis to Kentucky — but he brings the same chip on the shoulder. The coach’s inherent chippiness should enhance several rivalries: Calipari vs. Rick Pitino is the must-see game of the year; Calipari vs. Bruce Pearl goes from a once-a-year blood feud to twice annually; Calipari vs. Jim Calhoun on Dec. 9 reignites an old New England hatefest; Calipari vs. Billy Donovan (which is almost like playing Pitino by proxy) has great promise; Calipari vs. Tom Crean will test the bonds of friendship amid a new rivalry setting; and, potentially, Calipari vs. Bill Self — a rematch of the thrilling 2008 national title game and a chance for two guys who dislike each other to feign otherwise in an NCAA tournament setting.

Hey buttslammerman. Why don’t you just tune in to msnbc and watch that 24/7 and stay off of here?
November 8th, 2009 at 9:00 am
12- No, that’s pure snark from Forde, I can hear him now. He wants UK to lose each of those match-ups so he has more chances to criticize Cal and our fanbase..

Your statement would actually have a point if the blog wasn’t a little more than a week old. Next time don’t try to build a strawman out of oatmeal.
November 8th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
Because a strawman, by definition, is made from straw. If you want to make an oatmealman, then oatmeal is the perfect choice.
