If you havent read your copy of today’s USA Today (which means you arent staying in a hotel), then you might have missed the front page of the Sports Section which has this story on budding rivalry between Pitino and Calipari. The article looks at the similarities between the men and what they are headed for this season. It is an interesting read with some good tidbits, two of which stood out to me:
1. Tom Jurich trying to blow off the Calipari higher, saying that the same thing happened two years ago when “they were recruiting eighth graders.” While I always like smack talk, if Jurich really believes Cal is Gillispie, he is in for a rude awakening.
2. The note that Calipari stood up at the Yum fundraiser a few weeks ago (which by the way has become legendary from folks who attended, since both coaches ended up at the same table) and said in front of Pitino that he “has the greatest job in college basketball.” Nice.
This rivalry is going to be good over the next few years. The article above is a good primer to get you ready.

I don’t think Cal is entirely correct when he says “it won’t get ugly” when Patino comes to town. My screen name brings up an example of how in the past we have gotten under the opponents skin. Not to mention a overwhelming majority of fans absolutely hate Patino. Also, Rick Patino has come out in said that Kentucky is the Camelot of college basketball, while at Louisville, why is he acting like now Calipari is wrong is saying so?

In his heart, Pitino agrees. Cal DOES have the best job in college basketball. He knows that and I’m sure when he finally
retires, he’ll finally state that was the best job he ever had.

In the past few years, I have personally rooted for both UK and UL. But now, after following KSR for the last 6 months, I absolutely HATE UL, Pitino, Tom Jurich, and especially that *ock sucker Pat Forde. Please forgive me for my sins of the past.

i have read this crap of UL “making more money” enough.
1 UK has on average about 5000 more people/game than UL
2 UK is one of the top 10/15 merchendise selling programs
3 UK is in the SEC & what gets like 3 times as much conference affiliation money than big east teams
4 WHO IN THE BLUE HELL OUTSIDE OF LOUISVILLE CARES ABOUT TARD BASKETBALL & even inside the city limits 50% are cat fans.
now i have no problem saying i am wrong so can someone explain?

15) I love how like every single one of the Tardinal fans has an avatar/sig pic making fun of UK, their name makes fun of UK, and/or their message makes fun of UK. And one of them says we are “a fanbase starving for attention?” LOLOLOLOL
At least our program doesn’t suck so much ass (in every aspect) that we can’t even mention it without having “UK” nearby.

13) Totally agree…. I think he regrets leaving UK, every single day of his life… I never held anything against him when he left…. I appreciated what he did here… BUT the way he has acted since the Karen story, really changed my opinion of him… and I think it will be ugly at the game..

It’s amazing how well everyone at UL just fits the program. I’m not sure there’s a better qualified douche bag AD than Jurich. From the AD to the coach to the players to the whore cheerleader posting naked pictures of herself and the delusional redneck, ghetto fans. Everything just seems to fit at UL.

Jurich is just as big a drunk as Gillispie. Maybe UL doesn’t recruit 8th-graders, except in the level of their great football hire. Goooooo Krags!
