It is quite late so we have to do this quick:
— The recruiting season is hitting full stride as Calipari returned on Wednesday from visits to see a number of top targets. Various reports had him in three different places, which we would not put past him, but is not necessarily certainly the case either. But what is clear is that Brandon Knight, CJ Leslie and Terrence Jones seem to be the focus of the blitz in recruiting efforts from this staff. All three guys are seriously considering Kentucky and the Cats are in the top 3 with all three guys. The success of this year’s recruiting class probably depends on how many of that group pull the trigger for Lexington.
— With the Clarion game coming, Coach Calipari said that he needs the team to be much more aggressive. He commented that after watching the tape of the exhibition game Monday night, the thing that was most striking was how little interest the UK guys had in taking the ball all the way to the basket. The DDO requires penetration and attacking the rim and Calipari felt the team was way too timid. From my perspective, this was best seen in the play of Darius Miller, who has seemed to simply blend into the woodwork in both early games. IT also explains how strong Darnell Dodson has looked, as he has been the one player who has consistently been aggressive so far early on.
— The football team got good news as it came out that Trevard Lindley will try to play this weekend. It is an understatement to say that Trevard’s time away has had a significant effect on the team’s defense and their inability to stop the pass and commit to run defense, as in the game against Mississippi State. Lindley’s return when fully healthy, which will most likely be the next week against Vanderbilt, gives Kentucky the ability to shut down one side of the field in the passing game and gives Steve Brown much more flexbility to stop the strengths of the other team’s offense.
— Our man Shagari Alleyne will be part of the NBA Developmental League draft tonight at 7 pm. In the Draft, 200 players will be picked by 15 teams, until every player is selected…sort of like in old playground basketball games. Alleyne is one of the 200 players in the mix, and the only one with Kentucky ties. I will be tuning in to NBA TV to watch the festivities, as any draft is a good draft for me.
— In case you missed it, the Yankees won the World Series. Why should you care? Well the connection between Yankees World Series wins and UK titles is strong. Usually when Kentucky wins the national title, the Yankees then go ahead and win the World Series that fall. But there have been two occasions when the Yankees won in the fall and the Cats won the next Spring. Either way, a strong Yankees run has always boded well for UK basketball and vice-versa. Call it karma, and the only reason I would see any positive in the good play from the Pinstripes.
Today will start our focus on Clarion, a look at an actor with a new connection to UK sports and information as it comes out. Stay tuned….

Not sure if anyone has heard but UK has picked up another sponsor to refurbish the current Men’s Wildcat Lodge after they move out & it will now be used by the Women’s basketball team. The sponsor will be paying 1.5million toward improvements in return for using their company name when the Lodge reopens. The lodge will now be called the “LadyKats Kohl’s Lodge”.

One thing on “missing out” on all these recruits. We didn’t miss out on this many recruits last 5 years or so , because we were never even mentioned being in their top 5 to begin with. You can bet we wouldn’t miss out if we tried to get Avery,McClintock,Euton, etc. When you go trophy fishing, you usually get less bites(opportunities), but when you land one it’s worth the wait.

7, while I’m certainly impressed with how dedicated you are by posting that same question on 7 consecutive threads, if you go back and actually read the posts instead of trying to be a comments section muscle-flexer, you’ll have your answer.

4 - that is largely just perspective, lookk at the picture of tobias harris for example.. his hands, though certainly probably quite big in their own right, look twice as big as his head in that picture
