It was a fun day in Harrodsburg, as I spoke to a local organization there about UK basketball and KSR. It was a good afternoon and was highlighted by my premonition coming true. I was certain that if you are in Harrodsburg, you have to run into someone in the Johnson family. Driving down the street leaving town, there was Alvis Johnson, decked out in UK gear walking down the street. Now if you tell me that I will see Richie everytime I go to Clay County, I will believe it.
Another relatively slow news day. Dustin Rumbaugh’s interview with CJ Leslie was quite good and he has also caught up with Terrence Jones and Tobias Harris for the next couple of days. Dustin is getting it done.
My first article for Coachcal.com is linked here. For the first couple of weeks, my contributions will be limited to articles, but we will get the video going very soon. It includes what I believe is the only reference to the former Minnesota State football coaching legend Hayden Fox, ever to be on Coach Calipari’s website.
We will be doing a LIVE BLOG at 7:30 pm. Come on and talk about the Clarion game, the EKU game, our new podcast and any other topics. I am in one of those “uncensored” moods, so you might have to come on and watch it live, because it could disappear after.
Oh and I loved Tomlin’s post once again.

Matt, I can’t comment at coachcal.com but your article there is one of the funniest and most well-written I’ve read in a while. Before you announced you’d be contributing to coachcal.com, I was starting to think that my “Manager” membership had gone largely to waste. Now I actually have something to look forward to on that site. Hell, I might even renew my membership at year’s end!

Seriously. Does anyone else see Matt’s move to coachcal.com as a step down? I mean, Matt is running his own thing here and it’s white hot, why jump ship even if it is to work for Cal’s site?
He will inevitably be watered down. Made more suitable for mass consumption. He’ll start wondering if there are ramifications to what he says here. Bad juju. No good will come of this. Matt could possibly wind up Maggardized into widespread mockery and derision. What once would have never been suspected will now cause readers to pause and wonder if Matt is giving the full story or if he’s sucking up. Massive loss of street cred hangs in the balance. All glory is fleeting.

I don’t think he’s being a hypocrite. Obviously Cal’s site is a completely different site which Matt does not run. I just don’t see why he thinks this is worth the gamble? People over there that don’t know him won’t be impressed and from over here it honestly looks like an attempt to suck up… which is like kryptonite to a board like this. Sucking up is what sunk Maggard and Matt is risking that with this move. At best it’s a lateral move anyway. I just don’t see the attraction to being a lacky instead of independently running your own board.
