[Moderated by Matt Jones]

Over the course of the next three days, we’ll be posting some highlights from interviews that I did with three recent UK visitors: CJ Leslie, Terrence Jones and Torrel Harris (father of UK recruit Tobias Harris).

Today, we’ll look at CJ Leslie. Leslie is currently ranked the #3 PF and #14 overall prospect in the 2010 class. Here’s a few of the highlights of the conversation I had with CJ:
DR: First off, just tell me a little bit about what you did during your visit to UK?
CJ Leslie: When we got there I went to the Blue/White game and then went out to eat. We got to conversate a little bit and I got to hang out with John and Demarcus.
DR: I know that you were able to see the team scrimmage in the Blue/White game. Were you also able to see the team practice privately? If so, can you talk a little bit about how you might fit into that system?
CJ Leslie: Yeah I [was able to see the team practice]. It’s a very up-tempo game. They believe in running the ball a lot, as far as getting the ball out, pushing the ball. That’s kinda what I see myself doing. I think I would fit into that system great.
DR: At this point, how do you feel about UK’s pursuit of you? Do you feel that you are one of their top priorities or high on their list of big men?
CJ Leslie: Yeah, Coach Cal was up here today. I didn’t get the chance to talk to him but I heard he stopped by. [Word of God Christian Academy Coach Hatchett] told me he stopped by. So you know I’m definitely feeling the love.
DR: So from your end, where do you place UK right now?
CJ Leslie: They’re one of the top schools that I’m looking at.
DR: Is it still going to be a spring decision for you?
CJ Leslie: Really just whenever I feel like I’ve found the right school.
In case you missed this is yesterday’s post, here’s CJ’s new HoopMixTape:

- Be sure to check out my man Anthony Wireman’s new feature over at AllKyHoops.com. Over the course of the next couple weeks, he’ll be doing a journal with Tobias Harris, detailing the final countdown on his recruiting process. As a fan of Tobias’, I’m excited about it myself. In fact, I’m only putting this link up on the site so that I can get the journal entries a few hours before you guys do.

Man, you look at these guys like CJ, Terrance Jones, and Tobias and you look at the length on them. It’s totally insane. If we could get two of them in this class, no one could match that much athleticism anywhere in the country at the forward spot.

Rick Reilly is hilarious. Look to the bottom of the piece and he roasts Pitino’s nuts.

Somebody ought to conversate with CJ about his grammar. Juuuust kidding, come to UK CJ, you won’t regret it!

This is the guy I would like to see us pick up out of all the forwards we’re after. He just oozes excitement! Looks like his game is tailor made for this offense. Would love to get him and then him turn around and talk John Wall into staying one more year! Hey I can dream can’t I?!

Uhhh, conversate is actually a word, you know.
Leslie = 1
sangaman = 0

So Dustin, who do we have the better chance of landing? Leslie, Harris, or Jones…any possibility of 2 out of 3? I know you dont have all the answers but I’m sure you have a better feel for what might go on.

6, I think there is a possibility of two out of three. Before Payne went to MSU, I actually thought of Leslie as just as much of a Payne type of player as a Jones/Harris. Now I believe 100% that UK could add Leslie and Jones/Harris. The second question, I’d feel most confident about Leslie. Probably Jones in a distant second and Harris in a close third to Jones. Jones and especially Harris are hard to peg right now. Harris really liked all of his visits so far and it’s just up to where he feels most comfortable. Seems like he felt REAL comfortable down the road in Louisville. But that’s kinda been the case with all of the visits so far, so who really knows?

I like Leslie’s game. It would be nice to add him with Poole and maybe Jones. We would be very solid at that point for next year with Bledsoe. Maybe we can still add Selby or Knight at PG and we would be right back up there with a highly rated class. That is how Cal will begin to remake the UK brand into a glitter program that sends a lot of kids to the pros. Natl TV, exciting style, blowouts…etc.

5… Uhhh, wrong. While “conversate” IS acceptable slang, it is NOT a real word. “Converse” would be the proper verb here. However,
in the setting of an informal phone interview, CJ is perfectly fine using slang. But in a formal setting it would not be correct.
So, the way I see it:
Leslie = 1
sangaman = 1
kyeric = 0
