Ain’t no mountain high enough….

They say when your family encounters tragedy or tough times, it often brings you closer together. So, it should probably come as no surprise that the news of Billy Gillispie’s DUI sentence spurred former UK assistant Jeremy Cox and underage commitment Michael Avery to spend some time re-connecting this weekend in Tampa. Avery, now enjoying all the misery that tenth grade brings, took an unofficial visit to USF with about half of his Montverde Academy team for the Bulls’ game with West Virginia. Since moving to Florida from California, he’s gone to school and played basketball. Probably played video games. According to Rivals, seven users have given him a 3.57 star rating.

In other recruiting news, the son of Doc Rivers tells the Orlando Sentinel that he’s still committed to Florida but allowing Coach K and his staff to continue to snake their way in with him. But, rather than debating all the pros and cons of a couple of coaching has-beens trying to out-recruit each other, let’s focus on the part of the article where Rivers talks the Cats. Which, unfortunately, wasn’t too positive. Austin Rivers said he is “not feeling Kentucky“, further nailing it home thirteen words later by adding “I just don’t want to go to Kentucky”. Rivers, of course, gave all the “great coach and program but not for me” talk, but his message was clear. He does not fear your Facebook insults.*

*Please do not actually insult him over Facebook.  Given his final two schools, you’ll have plenty of time to harass him properly in the near future.

You guys need to quit using the Bozich/Demling photo. It’s really not that funny anymore.

This kid sounds like a Dookie to me. Whatever.

The dude has been committed to Florida…nobody wants him at UK anyway. I mean he’s a commit, standing firm to his commitment but taking visits to other places and letting other coaches in his ear…not what Kentucky needs anyway. Have fun losing to UK every year while you’re at Florida…then you’d be saying, I wish I was feelin Kentucky.

Wonder if Rondo talked to him?

I like Doc Rivers and he was a good NBA player. But his talent level to not get passed down to his offspring. The older son didn’t cut it at Georgetown / the Big East and transferred to Indiana. Neither son is very athletic and could NOT compete for playing time at Kentucky. Have yo seen our backcourt lately.

I never knew UK was interested in him. I’m sure they know the people that leave negative remarks on someone’s facebook page is a minority and not a true fan of any program. Most aren’t even from the school they are said to be. With that said , Let’s try and be better than these Eggheads and wish these kids well , whereever they end up.

Austin Rivers is legit, those of you saying he isn’t good enough to play for us are just dumb.

8}you are so right. I live in Central Florida and have seen Austin play many times. I am no scout but have seen and officiated many AAU tourneys in Orlando and Austin is in top 10 of all players I have seen. Also #6 Austin is a very athletic player. He is way better than his older brother. Also seems to be a kid with a great attitude, which is rare. Just because the kid does not want to play for us at UK does not give morons the right to say things about someone they have no clue about. Especially when you are talking about a 17 year old kid.

  10. SagaciousMind Says:

Yeah I dont get how people say he’s not talented when he is top 10 in his class…I know he’s talented, but I know I wouldnt want a commit that is still taking visits to others schools and stuff.

Got a comment deleted! Yes! Someone at least read it!

  12. CatsFan4Evr Says:

I’m not feeling Rivers, either. He can go to Florida and be irrelevant. He looks like he takes it up the crapper, anyway.
