A versatile wing that UK set their targets on this summer was one of Michigan’s finest and Scout’s #9 SF in the 2011 class, Brandan Kearney. Kearney is set to make his college decision today at 11am, according to GoSpartans.net.
He took a visit to UK earlier in the fall and has spoke highly of Calipari’s ability to develop NBA-level talent, but still told Scout.com’s Dave Telep in mid-October that Michigan State was his leader. Kearney also had many good things to say about Coach Izzo, especially the way he had led Kearney to believe that he was recruiting both him and his family. For those reasons, the safest bet is that he will be choosing his home-state Spartans today.
I’ll post something around 11 when Kearney makes his official announcement.
- Also, Doron Lamb will be visiting UConn this coming Sunday and Monday, according to Adam Zagoria. I’ll speak more about Lamb tomorrow.
- And just so you don’t think I’m going all Miss Negative Nancy on you, here’s a little video of a kid that UK is in a very good position with, CJ Leslie:

It has been talked about on here before…but every time a recruit commits to another team…I get nervous and worried about the lack of commitments to us…. I know Coach is the best at recruiting but I still worry…..
Anyone else feel that way???

#1, Even though people do say it a lot, “Calipari will get his guys.” I’m not worried whatsoever and we’re NO WHERE NEAR a point where I would start to get nervous. Even if Kearney picks Michigan State, you have to realize that Calipari has barely missed on a 5 star 2010 center that he offered and a 4-star representative of the USA that he offered…BARELY missed. If he set his sights lower, he would be getting commits left and right. He isn’t and that’s what we want. He’s throwing bait at all the big fish and all he needs to get is about 3-4 more this year and less in the future. He’ll get ‘em.

Calipari had success at Memphis with recruits that were not cream of the crop, with the exception of Rose and a a couple of others. We brought in a great class and I still believe we will get at least 3 more big name guys but even if not Calipari will get good players. We just gotta keep our composure, we cant have anybody freakin out out there! -Big Cat

#6, Izzo didn’t do anything to Cal…We don’t even have a scholarship to give to this kid if he wanted. We prob will only have 2 for that year, Mike Gilchrest gets 1 and Kearney isn’t good enough to get the other. It will prob go to an elite pt guard.
