NOTE: Since Beisner brought up politics in this morning’s post, I thought it was only necessary to recognize my favorite politician of all-time, Jerry Springer. Seriously, has any person ever lived the American dream more than this guy? He got in trouble because he payed for a hooker with a personal check in Kentucky, and THEN was elected mayor of Cincinnati. And instead of all that destroying the rest of his life, he turned into the most popular talk show host in the country, outside of Oprah. He highlighted a group of people who don’t get recognized very often in this country, and that is redneck idiots. Good ole’ shameless rednecks, people who use their 6 brain cells to try and punch their girfriend in front of a studio audience. So here is to you, Jerry Springer, as American as they come.
1) Hilarious grouping of charts and graphs about college football, especially SEC football.
2) Here is a fantastic clip from the Daily Show about the matchup between Philadelphia and New York teams from this past weekend. Good stuff about two fanbases who are filled with less than popular people.
3) If you have not yet seen the “30 for 30″ documentaries going on right now on ESPN, you are missing one of the better things that ESPN has tried in the past 5 years. The most recent one, a film about one of Muhammed Ali’s last fights, this one against Larry Holmes, was FANTASTIC. It is one of the saddest stories you can imagine, with people in the Ali camp admitting that he was already experiencing Parkinson’s symptoms before the fight.
4) I have so many questions about this video:
a. Since when does a dress have pockets?
b. What the hell kind of version of happy birthday is this?
c. Shouldn’t Marcellus Wiley be a better dancer than this because he is a ………former football player?

Wow, dog. You just encapsulated most of what’s wrong with politics — and especially the way the media “covers” it — in you first thought this morning. You outdid the Beis.

Marcellus has one of the smoothest names ever. That dance was, well, terrible, but I give him a C- for at least invoking the River Dance for a second or so. Lay off Beadle and her dress. I have somewhat of a healthy (so far) crush on her for reasons I am still trying to understand.

TrueBlueKentucky poster comment below (It’s funny how the same event can be viewed by two different individuals/sites so differently. Matt & most at KSR took the mention by Baker as a positive & the Kool-Aid drinkers of Maggard’s Minion view it as a shot at KSR by Baker) :
I don’t remember what happened to bring it up but at one point during the game monday night Dave Baker said with a chuckle “well that’ll give them some thing to talk about for a while over on KSR.” Like I said I don’t remember what he and Macy were talking about I just remember thinking oooooooo nice shot Dave.

Actually, the most recent “30 for 30″ was on Len Bias, aired just last night. It was excellent, too.
And so was the Ali/Holmes.

Youre not allowed to sing the traditional version of Happy Birthday on TV or you owe the estate of the girls who wrote it (from Louisville) money. You can sing the same words as long as the beat is different.
True Story.

Hey BTI, how come you always leave out Christian Academy of Louisville in your class 2a listings? Given we are not a powerehouse and never will be, but we only lost twice this year, to Desales and Lexington Christian, who we always lose to. Just sayin!

Spot on BTI, the 30 for 30’s are excellent TV. I missed the Bias one last night but look forward to seeing it.
