Last week during the ULM game, a Fox Sports camera crew displayed the above awesome signage coming back from commercial. I called for a screenshot of the sign, hoping to feature it later this week in a football-related post. Turns out owner of the sign, Murph from Louisville, happens to be an active KSR reader and emailed Matt and I some pictures. Murph was kind enough to provide some backstory about his sign and answered a few questions.
Murph is a season-ticket holder who sits in Section 128, behind the UK team. Murph created the sign to honor, “the most athletic and electrifying player I’ve seen,” Murph said in an email interview. Randall Cobb is aware of the sign and will often point to the sign after he scores. “Randall told me that his mom really likes the sign,” he said. “I plan on passing the sign on to the Cobb family when his playing career is over.”
“This kid is special, we need to truly appreciate every single play,” Murph said.
Unfortunately, not every fan in Commonwealth shares Murph’s enthusiasm expressed with the majesty of signage. Murph explains: “I was told by a gentleman last week to put [my] sign down… I only hold the sign up after Cobb scores and sometimes the camera guys have me hold the sign up during commercial breaks because they come back to the game with my sign on the screen and the announcers lead into it. So at times I have to hold it up for almost 2-3 minutes during TV timeouts and that’s when [another Wildcat fan] got a little upset and told me to ‘put down your sign’. I guess he was upset because he couldn’t see the kickoff team huddled up on the sideline.”
If you look for the sign during this week’s game against MSU, you won’t see it. Murph will be taking his children Trick-or-Treating on Saturday. But look for Murph and his sign when the Wildcats battle EKU and Tennessee later in the year.
So, who’s going to create the “Hooray for Jorge!” sign?

That’s nothing. Zelda had 10 passing touchdowns at that point in his career.

#10 — Yeah but Zelda’s throws would always get saved by the heroics of WR Link.

Cobb is the man

I pray everyday that Cobb does not get hurt because outside of how impressive the defense has been lately, he is the team.

[...] Kentucky Sports Radio recently wrote a piece on the most famous sign in Commonwealth, The Legend Of Cobb. And then it looked like the sign would not be in attendance for tonight’s SEC battle against Mississippi State. (Check out the Pinkie’s preview HERE.) [...]
