October 26th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
Well everyone says relax and trust our staff etc…but I hate only having one recruit this upcoming class.
October 26th, 2009 at 7:24 pm
(3) are you the type of guy that walks in the bathroom, gets stressed out bc all of the other guys are already peeing, and then ends up leaving out of frustration?
relax. it’s OCTOBER. were former coaches here, we wouldn’t even know who we were recruiting yet. Matta, Roy, et al have been on their commitments for several years. Cal has been a *little* busy…
October 26th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
No im not actually- thanks for playing. By December the vast majority of these guys will have decided where they are going. Are you saying that while he was at Memphis he wasnt recruiting any of these guys in this class? It appears as though thats what youre saying and if so, that makes sense as to why we have one guy coming. I dont think that it the case though, I suspect he WAS recruiting guys for this class, course he could be on the every other year plan and likes to take a year off after a good year. What on earth has Cal been doing that Matta and Roy werent? Defending himself and his players agaisnt the NCAA I suppose.
Keep comparing our program now to the program of the past 5 years, that is such a great standard.

I think what #4 is trying to say is that Roy and Matta and the others have been recruiting these guys for a couple of years to attend their schools. Cal may have been recruiting them, but not to attend UK and I think some of these guys need to figure out if they want to go to UK and play for Cal not just play for Cal. Our 2010 class may not be great, I don’t know. But I do know that our 2011 class will be monster.

For every DeMarcus Cousins, there is a Xavier Henry who won’t follow a coach to a new school when they move.
Do you think Donovan would pull the same players were he not at Florida? Barnes at Texas? Howland at UCLA? “Because we’re Kentucky!!” isn’t enough of a reason for a blue-chip to suddenly follow a coach to a school.
And “what on earth has Cal been doing?” Let’s see: Had to move schools. Had to move his family. Had to hire a new staff. Had to make sure his old staff landed on their feet. Had to do the proverbial “accessory” tasks that any good Kentucky coach has to do when taking the job. Had to LAND THE NUMBER ONE RECRUITING CLASS OF THE LAST 20 YEARS. Had to lay recruiting groundwork for the next 2 or 3 classes (or “refine” what he already had. whatever). THAT’S what other coaches weren’t having to do.
Lay off and relax. This is possibly the best recruiter our university has ever had in ANY sport (sorry, P. Bryant)

Many of the 5 stars are going to wait longer to commit cause they can. We’ll have to learn to live with the suspense.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
I bet 7 makes more money than 5.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
I heard 7 has a hot wife, knows Coach Cal, and doesn’t resort to ad hominem attacks.

What #5 fails to realize, recruits in this 2010 class arent just gonna throw themselves at UK. They want to see UK actually play and see how the team meshes and if they are going to be better than say, last year. Yes we know we are a hell of a lot better, but that doesnt matter to recruits. That is exactly why Achraf went to Nova…that and probably being closer to home. I dont get why people are gettin all riled up. This team is just starting out, but I dont care that we only have 1 commit because 6 5 stars that we are after all have us in their finals and are awaiting their decision. When is the last time we were in the running for 6 5 stars? Chill out. The recruits will come and then there is a chance we land the #1, 2, and 3 players in the 2011…now how crazy would that be?

A new team pic surfaced and they say Hood is 6′6 and Harris 6′7, they are standin next to each other and Hood is clearly taller. I dont know if Harris is standin back further or what, but I dont think he’s 6′7. Just like Mark Krebs is not 6′5. A friend of mine is 6′5 and he took a pic with him and my friend was taller, even had Krebs sayin to him, damn you’re tall.

Im not worried because CAL is clutch…HE will get the players…I think payne will be a WILDCAT friday….I also think CJ LESLIE is coming…Bottom line is ths…Cal will go down as one of the best coaches ever to coach thegame….CAL 4 PREZ!
October 27th, 2009 at 6:32 am
Don’t be worried we have 1 recruit & that it is October. As of March ‘09 we had Hood,Orton,Villarino & just barely missed out on Hunter McClintock(who spurned us for Oral Roberts)I think we ended up with a decent class this year didn’t we ?
October 27th, 2009 at 9:09 am
Well we ended up with a great class because guys who were going to memphis ended up following Cal here- further proving that guys dont want to play for UK they want to play for the coach….meaning we should have more than one recruit by now.
I didnt fail to realize anything, and I am very happy with my job that more than supports my many kids, and I love my wife deeply
I just get tired of people who think that everything will be okay yadda yadda just like they did with Billy G, just like they did with Cal and the final four thing (yeah cause that hasnt embarassed us at all) and maybe even the John Wall thing. Not everything turns out great for us…and while I dont care much either way but all I said originally was I think it sucks we have one recruit at this point and that we are still getting picked over by guys we really want.

16) Sorry, but you sound like the old Hee-Haw song…. “..doom,despair & agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery, if it weren’t for bad luck,Id have no luck at all…”
Take a Prozac & relax, Cal will have plenty of top notch recruits in the stable for next season…
October 27th, 2009 at 9:52 am
Again, relax everything will be okay.
1) Heard that with Billy G-epic fail
2) Heard that about the final four problem- embarassing
3) Hearing that about Wall- we shall see
4) Hearing that about recruiting.- I guess Cal didnt form any relationships with the 10 class.

Dont get me wrong I see no reason why Tipton has a job, I just want to leave no room for error.
October 27th, 2009 at 10:20 am
Rival’s analyst Jerry Meyer said all along that we as UK fans are going to have to be patient b/c most of the recruits are going to see what opens up for them at UK next year. Actually you can’t blame them for doing that but, since we have “THE BEST” coach and recruiter in the nation we as BBN are just going to have to bide our time. GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
