[Moderated by Matt Jones]

Dave Kersey, a long-time UK message board poster and considered an “insider” from time to time says (on a premium post in Mexico)that he is hearing rumors that UK will get a commitment from CJ Leslie right after Midnight Madness. Leslie is of course the former John Wall teammate who Calipari covets and who will be attending BBM. Interesting news if true. I have no idea what Leslie will do, although he has been rumored to be a UK lean for the past few weeks.
Stay tuned…

Would be nice since everyone seems to think Harris is goin to Syracuse.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
Getting Leslie to go with Poole would be huge. Talk about athletic.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:13 pm
Look how this program and us as fans have changed…we’re already geeked about the season AFTER next….this one hasn’t even started.
wow, i love me some cal….

Buenas Noticias!!! Me gusta!
October 6th, 2009 at 9:17 pm
Please take this post down. This kind of press can only affect UK negatively.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
15- No hablo ingles…
October 6th, 2009 at 9:19 pm
So was leslie our top target for that scholarship?
October 6th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Is this a done deal or not???
October 6th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Look, I’m not into the wars between the UK sites. But if you really have UK’s best interests in mind you would remove the post. If you have your site’s best interests in mind you will leave it up. Do the right thing.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:22 pm
Did Kersey really say that or did he say that was a rumor he heard? It seems things can get taken out of context sometimes here.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
All you “who got the information first” monkeys are slowly sucking the fun out of recruiting. Here we are, talking about arguably the most exciting player in the 2010 class, and all some of you want to do is whine and complain about who released the info… Ridiculous. As long as it’s accurate, who gives a flying flip? Just shut up and enjoy it. If it’s not right, that’ll come out later too. I think we’ve all followed recruiting long enough to know that most everything you hear is a crapshoot anyway.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
i hope we get him and he talks John Wall into staying. I know it won’t happen but it would be fun to watch them play together in college.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:28 pm
21- show me the post about someone bragging about being first to post it? Where???
October 6th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
Look at Brian the Intern with a late night post! Are we back to the “this will hurt UK” posts? I remember some of the Maggard folks saying that when we criticized Gillispie as well, and I think that ended up working out. I am sure if someone from UK believes BTI hurts them, they will let me know.
BTI must be somewhere running laps at his newfound power
October 6th, 2009 at 9:37 pm
BTI is my baby daddy.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Shouldn’t you be watching the Hills instead of baseball or hockey Jones?

October 6th, 2009 at 9:43 pm
from TBK poster, in reply to BTI post on KSR:
“So…why would BTI or anybody else try to purposely discredit Dave? They’re a**holes…plain and simple.
Jones and his crew deserve a dropkick to the throat for this. It’s a shame that UK fans can’t just get along.
If it were up to us, it’ll all be fine. But they have to continually take low blows whenever they get the chance to.”
BTI bringin’ the heat with the night post. Well done sir.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
That’s not what Dave Kersey said. Get it right or don’t post it.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
29- hell, to avoid all of this fuss, maybe he should come out and say what he said or keep his mouth shut. He is in total control of his actions, unless he’s a puppet on a string (or a jalapeno on a steeeeek)!
October 6th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
You gotta love it. All is well in the UK program for the first time in years, so of course now the fan base has to split and snip with one another over everything and petty online back and forths. Some people just can’t be happy.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
(30) hahaha i love that routine! EEEEEEEEEEEEEhhhh PAAACOOOOOOO
October 6th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
In standard Maggard-ite fashion, when Leslie doesn’t commit after Madness, they will play the “he didn’t commit because it got leaked” excuse … that one makes me smile. I’m so sure a kid won’t commit to a particular school because some fan blogs posted rumors about it.
October 6th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
TBK is where they blow don’t you know!
October 6th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
I was readin the replies by fans on that site…they are all dumb. Most of the time credit is given here on where source of info came from. And I am pretty positive that if you have a TBK or KSR poll…KSR will win. Why pay for TBK info when you basically can get the same thing here. MM fans are just like him. Anybody who goes from havin a free site to startin to make people pay…well that’s just ridiculous. I was readin his old site and never found anything more on there than anywhere else. But ppl really need to quit with this crap because who cares honestly? We are all UK fans.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:15 pm
The best laugh of the day. Like most I read tbk lol. Some people need reality checks. Your mad over two Uk journalists/bloggers/whatever/”insiders”? The posts on that board are pricelessssssss!
October 6th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
THIS NEEDS TAKEN DOWN NOW…. The reason this hurts Kentucky Recruiting wise is one this is a rumor and for two other schools that feel they WERE IN with Leslie may see this and think well we thought we were doing good with recruitment maybe we need to pick it up and show him more interest causing Leslie to maybe 2nd think things…. Why would a rumor that is suppose to happen in 2 weeks get posted like it is a DONE DEAL when Dave never said this.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
Harris is a stud and I really hope UK gets him. Better player than Leslie at this point but who knows about 3-4 years from now. Can’t go wrong with either and who knows maybe both will be CATS.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
“The bottom line is that I have a lot of confidence that Leslie will at some point in time decide for Kentucky.”
“So someone at another board says I am saying Leslie will commit to UK, and I’m in Mexico. Well I’ll be damned. News to me.”
-Dave Kersey quoted from the same post… Anyone see a problem?
October 6th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
what school that is recruiting CJ MUTHERF-ING LESLIE would EVER let their foot off the gas on his recruitment????
October 6th, 2009 at 10:24 pm
37- if the other schools aren’t already pushing as hard as they can for a 5 star player and if they don’t know Kentucky is in tight with him then they may actually need to hire marc maggard to tell them. Otherwise, I’m pretty sure if Dave Kersey knows the dish, everyone else does too. Any more brainwashing tactics you’d like to share?
October 6th, 2009 at 10:31 pm
31. No the tete-a-tete between the two sites IS fun, They’re the ones who get all upset, we’re just having a good time ragging on a toolbag.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:41 pm
37 - Hilarious! I want to try! I disagree with you for two reasons: 1) Because I don’t agree with you; and 2) because what if they were already going to take this post down but then saw your post and decided to leave it up????
October 6th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
37. Aren’t you the same dude that runs back to all the Maggardites and tells everybody what we are talking about and what Jones is going to do next? Geeze, get a life man. This post will have no bearing on where Leslie makes his decision. If you were at another school do you think for one second that you would ever let your foot off the gas when it comes to recruiting Leslie? I didn’t think so. Go on, get to steppin over to the other Maggardites and tell them what information you have gathered.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLA QUESADILLA RENNA
October 6th, 2009 at 10:52 pm
I’m a limousine ridin’, jet flyin’, kiss stealin’, wheelin’ dealin’ son of a gun. WOOOO!!!!
And remember to Be the Man You Gotta Beat the Man, the Man in this case Woooooo is MATT JONES WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
October 6th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
I bet all of those Faggards are pissed that their priceless premium info was posted over here.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:56 pm
Dave sent out a message on his facebook that UK is about to get a recruit. I believe he sent several such comments which led to posts on Catspaws, where I first read about it. Everyone was asking who it might be… Dave suggested that interested readers could see the name on Maggard’s site. I don’t see the big deal here. If it is so bad to post the player’s name because it hurts UK’s chances with the recruit, then why would Dave even post it to begin with? I was like everyone else, I wanted to know who he was talking about. Dave was the one who made the news and I just thank BTI for giving us the name.
And for real, the politics of UK Basketball is really silly… CHEERS to what we can hope is the 2nd 2010 recruit. He would be a bad Mamma Jamma in UK Blue!
October 6th, 2009 at 10:58 pm
Just to further piss them off: Kersey supposedly said that Leslie will be a Cat on October 19th.
October 6th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
23- Sorry you can’t read.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:00 pm
Someone left off BTI on the poll on the right.
Uno Dos Tres Quartro Cinco Seis Siete Ocho Nueve Diez
October 6th, 2009 at 11:12 pm
The point of this is Kersey didn’t say the name until BTI speculated the name and posted it here. Kersey withheld the name to protect UK’s recruitment of him.
Although I don’t think it is a big deal, sometimes it might be better to wait until the time is right to rip the info, JMO.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
Good stuff over on TCP. I’m sure Drummond loves the nerd fights between Jason Spear and everyone who hates his hero.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:15 pm
53 - and there it is. Protecting UK’s recruitment of him? Ha. Yeah, it’s a secret that UK is after him. Lame old excuse ALREADY BEING PUT IN PLACE for when Leslie doesn’t commit after Madness.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:16 pm
53. If Kersey didn’t say the name, and TBK is accurate when they say that this site has an inability to get information first-hand, how did BTI come up with the correct name?
October 6th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
56, these guys are falling all over themselves trying to backpeddle. Don’t expect a logical answer from them!
October 6th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
Now now boys, we are all well aware that the only trustworthy recruiting analyst, live blogger, video celebrity, and always first to any breaking news for all things UK is KIGE RAMSEY! All of these other bloggers are mere wannabes floating in his shadows.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:22 pm
Im not getting into to a TBK-KSR battle, just putting in my two cents. I didn’t put any excuse in anywhere, its perfectly obvious how it would affect his recruitment. College coaches and athletic offices scour websites like TBK and this site to get reads on what’s going on with their rivals recruiting. They get info from as many places they feel are credible as possible assess the situation and act on it. If they see something like this posted they confirm it with a more connected source, then turn the heat up in his recruitment or try to deter him from coming to UK. Pretty logical and simple.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
Im not making an argument about who is the most credible. Just that sometimes secondhand and thirdhand info shouldn’t be dealt out with more details if those details were withheld originally. Most likely the details are sensitive.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:24 pm
#59…CJ Leslie is one of the best players in America…everyone knows that UK has been recruiting him for a year and he is coming to BBM. I am sure that all those schools were waiting to hear from a random person named “Dave Kersey” or “Bryan the Intern” spreading a rumor in order to recruit him harder. Very logical
October 6th, 2009 at 11:28 pm
59- What do you think these other coaches can do to increase their recruitment of leslie? They’re definitely already calling him once a week (the maximum), and telling their players to call him would be a violation of the extent they would have to stop recruiting him. Texting is already banned so they’re not going to be sending more of those, maybe they could send him a couple more e-mails a week…
October 6th, 2009 at 11:34 pm
But…but….but Matt, you’re ruining their argument!
October 6th, 2009 at 11:35 pm
Between the Wall Peel ads and raffles for tickets to the Yucatan, TBK offers very little in terms of “premium info.” The posters are bland, the boards are run like Soviet Russia, and Maggard is, in fact, a faggard. I propose all the Maggardites get together and move, Jim Jones style, down to the homeland south of the border.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Still waiting for an excuse from Jason Spear or whichever Maggardite would like to chime in re Will Barton. After all, Maggard guaranteed that one. Put it in writing and everything.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:43 pm
Great stuff #61.
In other news, if you watched the Twins-Tigers game tonight and still think baseball is boring or not a great sport, then you are not American. This game had it all and was more entertaining than any sport out there. Don’t get me wrong, I cheer for the Cats in football, basketball and baseball (plus any other sport) as hard as anyone, but let’s get some props for our past time.
Anyway, let’s go CATS@
October 6th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
Jason Spear is a little nerd from Lindsey Wilson that hangs with girls and wears nail polish.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
42. exactly, we point and laugh and they get all bent out of shape and start throwing temper tandrums, all the while jerking off to mm in a UT shirt
59. see 61
64. not only did he put it in righting he wrote in a time delayed secret ink so he could brag about it later
October 6th, 2009 at 11:54 pm
65 - regular season baseball is boring. Playoffs — which is what this game was — is a completely different story. It’s always been that way. Aside from opening day, the first half of the season is completely irrelevant unless you are a die-hard. Think about all the teams that have come from many games below .500 or off the radar to turn it around after the all-star break. You just don’t need to even pay attention until after the all-star break at the earliest, if you are a casual sports fan.
October 6th, 2009 at 11:55 pm
67 - yes, I recall that as well. Donovan, South American PG, Barton, the list goes on … yet they want to knock this site down relentlessly because of Matt’s twitter message about “the story” …
October 6th, 2009 at 11:56 pm
65- I am a die-hard baseball fan, but I can understand why people think watching baseball is boring. A game like tonight’s is very rare. People from ESPN are even saying it’s one of the best games ever, which is kinda weak.
Anywho, I hope we get Leslie. I am getting worried about the 2010 recruiting class.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:01 am
To those saying it needs to come and down and will hurt his recruitment…are you guys seriously that ignorant? I mean I’m not dissin on this site, but do you really think college coaches pay attention to what people put on here? I mean how many times, not just on this site but others, do we hear something then to eventually have a player say it is not true. Prime example, Terrence Jones. They were sayin Kansas was off his list, but he and his mother both says it is not true. Time and time again recruits and their players are asked a question about somethin supposedly true and time and time again they will say they have no clue where that information came from and is not accurate. Not even the best sources know what they are talkin about half the time. It’s all speculation. You guys sayin that this post could hurt his recruitment and needs to be takin down makes me laugh. I didnt know BTI had that much power that he could control the world of recruiting. I wish it were so though, that way he can bring in Knight and Payne and some others were are needing.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:04 am
70…there is no need to ever worry about recruiting classes again
October 7th, 2009 at 12:08 am
72- I guess I just am because we COULD have so many scholarships and we have only picked up 1 so far. We could have 6 or 7 scholarships to give….Harris, PSteve, Pat, Cousins, Wall, Krebs, and maybe Orton
October 7th, 2009 at 12:14 am
I don’t see the relevance of this post. CJ Leslie is not a machine, his mind will not shutoff until the day after BBM so he can commit. Way too many variables. Why don’t you just keep stirring the pot BTI.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:16 am
Yeah I’m sorry, but even I have to laugh at anyone thinking this is going to hurt anyone’s recruitment. These young men are making one of the toughest, most life altering decisions in the early portion of their lives. They’re deciding which college to attend to receive their education, and more importantly to some and most of the ones we’re targeting now, what coach and system is going to get them ready to have their name called early on draft night in a couple of years. And you’re going to sit here and tell me that one of these young men is going to choose Cal and his system, and suddenly have their world shattered when they’re alerted of the devastating news that Brian The Intern revealed possible plans for him to commit? This life shaping decision is made, and THIS is what’s going to change it in any way what so ever? If a kid likes UK, they’re coming to UK. If a kid likes Oklahoma, they’re going to Oklahoma. Nothing Brian The Intern, Steve The Drunk, Maggard The Wannabe Latino, or Christy The Bitch says is going to change that once it’s made. And you know what, in the rare occasion that this WOULD be a prime factor in changing a kid’s mind, we don’t want him. We don’t and no major D-1 school should. Because if THIS is going to get to them, then god forbid they have a 4 for 19 shooting night (or as I call it, an Earl Clark Special) in a prime time spot. Because the next time they check the internet their feelings will be hurt for the rest of their lives and they’ll have to curl up in a hole until their skin grows thicker.
You want to do a site war, whatever. Do what you want, but trying to pass off your agenda by saying this is going to HURT recruiting? May want to go back to the drawing board on that one.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:20 am
And even more laughable, these major recruiters are going to use this as a reason to turn up the heat on their pursuit of a top 15 player? If they weren’t already burning as hot as they could on his trail, they should be fired. If they need something like this, they should be fired and have their tires slashed.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:27 am
(75) is bringing all types of heat tonight. nice!
October 7th, 2009 at 12:31 am
I’ve been around enough recruitments to know that it’s not about the kid in instances like this, but it’s about those around him with influence.
People keep saying that coaches are recruiting as hard as possible regardless, but don’t understand that most contact (other than 1 call a week) comes through other avenues.
Anyway, CJ isn’t a kid with “handlers” but I can assure you there are people around him with outside interests who have their own agendas and might push them a little harder now.
I think this is no more than a “lean” situation getting blown out of proportion and could come back to haunt UK. Remember, he’s already been an NC St commit (not sayin he’d return there - he won’t - just that this recruitment has already had twists) and there are other forces at work.
Some things are better left not “reported” or speculated.
October 7th, 2009 at 12:43 am
78- If they’re close enough to him to have that sort of pull over him, one would imagine they would already know where he leans, especially if he’s planning to make a decision. Now if you’re talking about cash exchanging hands, then sure this could result in some of that over the next two weeks… get ready to write a friendly letter to the NCAA about ole roy.

Leslie es muy bueno
October 7th, 2009 at 8:02 am
Hey, been gone awhile….why isn’t SaveUK in on the bantering?
October 7th, 2009 at 8:46 am
#48, if BTI is basing it off of Dave’s post on Maggards site then the commit isn’t Leslie, it’s Lamb. Are all the mods 12?

But Dave also said it was just a rumor and nothing anyone that he knew could verify
October 7th, 2009 at 9:15 am
I don’t think the point is that the other teams will “turn up the recruiting,” but the other teams will most likely take it down from a 100% pitch for their school, to a 50% pitch for their school and a 50% pitch against UK… This could end up being detrimental for UK if the other teams all start recruiting “against UK” so to speak. However, this can be said whenever a leader is even given for a certain recruit. Lets just hope this is true, we know rumors from that site are shaky to say the least.
