We’re still three days away from tickets for Big Blue Madness going on sale, but it looks like Camp Memorial is already establishing itself as one of the larger communities in central Kentucky. These pictures were sent in by a blogger contestant whose name starts with a “J” and ends in “ared Quillen”. The anonymous one also says there are roughly 200 people in line as of 3am this morning.
Let’s get the Caliparty started!

When is BBM?
September 30th, 2009 at 9:13 am
What the heck are we on a blog for? Shouldn’t we be in line?
…oh wait, that’s right, I have a job, a family, and a life. UK still has the best, most badass fans in the world, though.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:13 am
I am #43 in line for tickets, but some cop showed up at 12:30 this morning and messed everything up by letting people line up early. The people at UK had to change plans and they passed out vouchers early this morning to save people’s places in line. They handed out about 300 this morning.
They are doing vouchers again early Friday morning for the next group of people. So if you didn’t get a voucher this morning, you can get one then. And don’t think you can sneak in line like in years past. They have it set up were you can’t get your ticket until you had them a voucher.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:15 am
I was out there at 10:30 last night. If the cop had not shown up and messed it all up, I would have been one of the 1st 10 in line. Oh well, #43 isn’t exactly a bad place in line.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:27 am
So, once you get the voucher, are you free to leave, or are most people still staying in line?
September 30th, 2009 at 9:27 am
3) fred…voted for your pup, very cute! good luck.
to all the people in line, consider yourselves lucky…i’m stuck 8,000 miles away in japan and can’t come home…trying my luck online in a few days…

“Caliparty”
Better hurry up and get the intellectual property rights to that one Beez…it won’t be long before Pat Riley stakes his claim to this new addition to the English lexicon.
September 30th, 2009 at 9:29 am
Beisner- email these pictures and a short write up to ESPN and get some more face time for UK.

#9 Better Japan than Korea….

8 Once you have a voucher you are free to go until Saturday morning, but most everyone who set up a tent is sticking it out just to be a part of the atmosphere. The news has been coming off and on since late last night. Different stations every hour or so. This is great pub for the program. Fans have been asked not to stop the players and “bother” them as they walk to class unless they stop to hang out. Orton walked by a bit ago and was pretty cool to the fans as they shouted, “Daniel” and waved at him.

#3, voted for “Gus”
…but maybe if you called “Gus” something else like “Katie” or “Alexa,” put him in a g-string bikini, and announced this in the comment section as a sexiest body contest, maybe then you’d get more votes/support from the typical KSR readers…

Ahhhh, I remember waiting in line for what was then “Midnight Madness” at Memorial back in the Pitino days. NO tickets–they just opened the doors up at about 10:00 PM and everyone rushed in to get a seat. We waited until the day of the event and cut into line with some friends who had camped out, and then slipped up front when the line dissolved into a clump about 9:30 in anticipation of the doors opening. The only thing I remember is that it was more boring than I thought it would be, probably because I sobered up during the “Lady Cats” exhibition.
September 30th, 2009 at 10:01 am
That is AWESOME! But, my question is this…do these people have jobs? I’d love to be able to do that, would do it every year if I could, but how do people get to go camp out for tickets, that work?
Either way…gotta love the excitement for Basketball once again in the Bluegrass!
GO BIG BLUE!
September 30th, 2009 at 10:06 am
16) I would say most of them are students..or people who decided to take a 5 day weekend..
September 30th, 2009 at 10:08 am
I already got my ticket, i’ll be the first row of the erupption zone yessss….camping out does look fun nonetheless, seems like a great atmosphere. I wonder what the players are thinking..”oh. my. god.” lol
September 30th, 2009 at 10:14 am
Just take a couple vacation days from work, its not that big of a deal.
September 30th, 2009 at 10:30 am
18 - the players are thinking “I love this place”!!!
September 30th, 2009 at 10:36 am
Great atmosphere out here. Lost of fans, lots of readers of the blog, Jerry Tipton interviewing people, including one blogger contestant and an anthropologist who wants to study UK fans waiting for tix. This is the year we announce “WE ARE BACK!”
September 30th, 2009 at 10:37 am
Only at UK…I love it!
September 30th, 2009 at 10:50 am
I stood in line for the ‘96 title team, and the damn thing wrapped around several blocks … it was in Memorial, too, and before they gave out tickets. You just pushed into the doors, and they closed them in the face of several who couldn’t fit. Sad for them. I like the new system - Rupp, tickets, etc. Too bad Ticketmaster always crashes. Always. But I’ve been the last 4 years, and plan on it this year as well. But please, for the love of God, do something about the women’s portion … it completely sucks the air out of the building.
September 30th, 2009 at 10:50 am
And the thing that sucked most about the old system was a frat pledge sitting in line, holding a spot for about 40 of his frat brothers, who cut in line without a care in the world.
September 30th, 2009 at 11:06 am
My son got lucky and got into the Erupption Zone.
September 30th, 2009 at 11:09 am
I remember the days back in the early 80’s waiting for game tickets in below zero weather… This is nothing…
September 30th, 2009 at 11:15 am
damn i cant go camp till like friday afternoon, chances any decent seats will be left?
September 30th, 2009 at 11:32 am
Sorry but every single one of those people are losers.
September 30th, 2009 at 11:35 am
28 All losers, who will all have tickets to Big Blue Madness. Don’t hate people for being a part of something they love. They say they’re fans and they mean it. These people are what make UK basketball what it is.
September 30th, 2009 at 11:37 am
28
I couldn’t agree more…we’re talkin’ about practice!
September 30th, 2009 at 11:40 am
Gotta love the passion of the fans!!
September 30th, 2009 at 11:50 am
Damn, I was in town last weekend for the Florida game and from the looks of things I just missed the cold weather.
September 30th, 2009 at 1:50 pm
CaltheCat, keep stuff like that to yourself. We do this because we care about UK basketball and it brings a fanbase together, and it is a lot of fun. You don’t have to camp, and honestly, from the sound of it, we really wouldn’t want you to camp.
September 30th, 2009 at 2:39 pm
This makes me sick. I was supposed to camp but didnt get to. But that’s ok, I’m still gonna have a ticket to Big Blue Madness and I cant wait!!
