[Moderated by Matt Jones]

I cant even begin to express my disappointment that “Waltah to the Altah McCartey is now a member of the Louisville staff. I am happy he is getting into coaching, but come on….for the Cards? When they took Steve Masiello, I was glad…but not Waltah. Oh well, it wont stop the fourth straight beat down this year in Rupp. Sports Mob below…..it is a Friday edition, which means lots of nonsense….and talk about the “Best UK player ever” bracket. Check it out at the link below and use the comments section to chat it up…….

Oh well, they can have Waltah. Masiello was and is always going to be a huge tool who thinks hes cool.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:09 pm
Matt, I ask you out of complete and utter fear, please ax the bozo pic.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
is anyone else having a problem with the streaming?
June 29th, 2007 at 3:12 pm
Stooge Noah tries WAY too hard to be an individual.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
I have a problem with Joekimberly Noah. Please stop giving this guy any publicity. He’s a fool. He’s one I’d like to see fall flat on his face. I don’t wish ill on many, but he’s one.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
How have I not seen the Noah / Sanjaya comparison yet?
June 29th, 2007 at 3:18 pm
2) I agree with Bozo..I hate clowns, they freak me out for some reason..also mimes
June 29th, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Haha. Yeah, the beatdown. We’ll see about that.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
Did we have an ‘09 Center on campus today?
June 29th, 2007 at 3:25 pm
any news from the miller party
June 29th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
It appears that coulrophobia is more wide spread than I had thought.
Any word on the Miller visit?
June 29th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
streaming isn’t working….
June 29th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
Its working for me right now
June 29th, 2007 at 3:33 pm
Matt do you have a update on Miller?
June 29th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
For whatever reason I’m not getting any streaming either.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:42 pm
nothing here…..
June 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
Matt,
Did you have to do a bracket right when EZ started one a couple days earlier? Makes you look like a copy-cat.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
And Jo Noah has more money than all of you multiplied together….someone in this crowd has none. Zero times anything equals how many NCs UK has had since 2000.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:45 pm
Stream working on the west coast of Ky.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:47 pm
money don’t mean everything #18. A tool is a tool.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
#18-due to the arrival of one Billy Championship Gillespi, thats
all about to change!!!
June 29th, 2007 at 3:50 pm
Exactly #20, A dork is a dork.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
awww, i’m sad that Walter has went to the other side, i still love him though, just a shame that he will be wearing red
June 29th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
joakim “side show bob” noah
June 29th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
still no stream in Hoptown, sadly.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:56 pm
Throughout Jo Kimberly’s college career i have always questioned.
His ability to go to the next level. I simply can not figure out
how he was a lottery pick. Sure, Kim plays with a lot of enthusiasm
and is a desent rebounder but come on, he cant hit a shot outside of
two feet, he is undersized at his position, and everyone is motivated
by their contract in the NBA. I think he will bust at the next level,
he’s not even the second best player at his position on his team now.
June 29th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Matt save the show. You and Rob are good at your job.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:01 pm

Billy D gets a 5* Center for 2008
June 29th, 2007 at 4:08 pm
I watched the draft but got bored at times just because there was so many commercials…I know there is time between each
pic but I would rather hear talking heads then so many commercials…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:09 pm
30) Yeah he did, Liggins is ranked higher though…we could use a center more…the guy is from Florida though…so what do
you expect…he is doing what Miller should do…show some love to your state and dont fool around and sit on your offer…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Not a fan of Steven A. Smith because he acts like he knows everything because of his demeanor…if he just went on like that
when he was on a roll that would be fine but I can see him at McDonalds going “I want the Big Mac, I need that Big Mac, where is
the Big Mac…”
June 29th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
I dare anyone to find me a Top 25 team with a worse group of assistants
than Louisville.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
Dont like Jime Rome either because of the same reason I dont like Steven A Smith…same attitude…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:13 pm
Good for Florida, better SEC competition can only help in March.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:14 pm
From all indications, Masiello has not been doing a bad job recruiting the NY area.
Yes, he is a little d-bag, but he’s at least earning that paycheck
June 29th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Noah gets his shampoo from New York…
I think he just wanted to show off his inside knowledge on stupid things of no importance…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Stu Scott was one of many terrible announcers last night. You would think they were trying to stink, and succeeding.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:17 pm
It will be a little funny when U of L comes into Rupp this year.
And now the UL coaching staff:
Ex-UK coach
EX-UK player
EX-UK benchwarmer
Son of EX-UK coach
June 29th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
So who do you think is next for Billy G in 08 class?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
yup, 2 of the most obnoxious espn talking heads were commentating the draft last night.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:21 pm
where did Stephen A. Smith come from? It seems like he popped onto the scene within the last few years. Before that, who was he?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
39) Stu Scott’s eye has always wigged me out…for some reason it still catches me off guard…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
If MM is correct, Rotnei won’t leave campus without gushing blue/white this weekend,
or Leo Washington, again this weekend
June 29th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
i love it that yet another UK alum is on the UL staff. Think about it, between Pitino, Masiello and McCarty, its almost like UK has built two programs. Add to that the fact that UL has to adjust their schedule so that UK can play in Freedom Hall once a year, it really almost flattering.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
Just thought I would mention this:
WKYT to Air Billy Gillispie Special
Billy GIllispie: Fast and Furious this Saturday from 10 pm - 11 pm
WKYT and the Big Blue Network is proud to air this Saturday a one-hour special entitled Billy Gillispie: Fast and Furious. The show will detail Gillispie’s roots and career, from his humble beginnings growing up in Graford, Tex. to the announcement that he would be the next head coach at UK.
Dick Gabriel traveled to Texas, where Billy Clyde’s roots run deep, and talked with family, friends and mentors, including his mother, Wimpy, and Bill Stull, the athletic director at UTEP, where Gillispie first became a college head coach.
It’s a fascinating look into the life and career of a young, up-and-coming coach
June 29th, 2007 at 4:23 pm
43) He wrote for the Philadelphia Inquirer
June 29th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
WKYT? That’s a Lexington channel right?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
I gave virgin man birth to Steven A. Smith
June 29th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
47) Good find…will have to put a timer on that one so I dont forget to miss it…to bad the Big Blue Network is doing it…wouldnt mind seeing it in a better picture…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
The connections to Sosa, Caracter, Clark, Samuels as well as Tyreke Evans–in addition to Melquan Bolding for 2008–are the product of Masiello’s familiarity with the AAU circuit on the Eastern Seaboard in NY/NJ/Greater Philly starting with his time at Manhatten. He has more than been a benefit to UofL on the recruiting trail…a statement to the contrary is purely uninformed.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
#51) I would settle for any picture. Being in Charlotte I don’t imagine I am going to get the broadcast
June 29th, 2007 at 4:30 pm
A UL fan in KY?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:31 pm
52- Thanks for the useless info.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:34 pm
With the way Billy Clyde is rolling, I really don’t give a flying f$*# who is on UofL’s sidelines. People use their contacts to advance their careers all the time, and this is no different from Employee A going from Microsoft to Apple. Anyway, a hoops rivalry (UK domination) won’t affect my fond memories of Walter throwing it down on the ‘96 squad.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:35 pm
If Zeller goes to Purdue, who would you rather have: Dunigan or J’mison Morgan?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:37 pm
I am a long time Kentucky fan who has no problem with Walter joining the
U of L staff. The man has a right to make a living. If he had turned down
a chance to work on the UK staff in order to be part of Pitino’s staff, that
would be different. But I appreciate all Walter did for the Wildcats and I
wish him well, except with the birds play the Cats.

Did anyone see the article on Scout about UFC Ex-Champion Rich Franklin?
He and Branhart are acquaintances and Mitch gave him courtside seats to the FLA game last year
June 29th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
#59, good article, but they need to proof read it. A couple of mistakes in there.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:47 pm
#59, thanks. I think we need a big man. Zeller, and Miller
are my pick. Kentucky kid, and hard worker.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:48 pm
#52 Is Masiello now known as the “Human Victory Cigar” of recruiting?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
If Billy G is only taking two more my top two would be Zeller and Miller as well but if Warren and Clarke commit first I am
not going to turn them down. Its a great problem to have. If we are going this season with Carter, Williams, Stevenson and
Coury being our only post players then even if we dont get Zeller we will still have any post player who contributed the year
before back with more experiance. No, I do not think any of those guys are going to do a whole for us this year but if this
season works out going small, we can easily do it again the next season with a more talented club.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
is it just my connection of did the sports mob suddenly go off the air?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
Did anyone else lose signal?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
65- I lost it too.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
65) good to know I am not the only one…
June 29th, 2007 at 4:56 pm
Do not yet rule out Mike Williams. I am hearing that he looks pretty good right now, but does need the conditioning.
June 29th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
dangit Matt, did you trip over the power cord in the studio again?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
This types of stuff shouldn’t happen…they have been doing this long enough now to work out the kinks
June 29th, 2007 at 4:58 pm
Is sports mob off?
June 29th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Matts hair got in the way again and he tripped over the power cable.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
hello, hello, hello. is there anybody out there? just nod if you can hear me? is there anyone home? come on, come on, come on. I need some information first. just the basic facts. don’t tell me where it hurts.

When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look, but it was gone.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
I thought the first verse was:
When I was a child, I had a fever
My hands felt like two balloons
Now I have that feeling once again
I can’t explain you would not understand
This is not how I am…
I have become comfortably numb
And the second verse ends:
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone, I can’t put my finger on it now
the child is gone, the dream is done,
I have become comfortably numb
June 29th, 2007 at 5:12 pm
80, who knew PF would fit so well on a sports talk radio comment board?

June 29th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
…but now it’s back.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
finally…
June 29th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
Matt did you hear the complaints by all that we don’t want to hear about Louisville? including their minor league bracket…
June 29th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
52) Join me here in reality. Pitino had HUGE success recruiting
the NY/NJ area before Masiello was having wet dreams of scoring 25
in a pick up game at Seaton Center against some Sigma Nu that averaged
6 a game his senior year. All of the assistants at U of L may do well
but it’s very odd to see such an unproven staff at a major school. But
it’s also odd to despise the name “little brother” and continue to try
and hire any and everything that’s ever been associated with “Big Brother”
Basketball.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
but anyway…
Okay okay okay
Its just a little pinprick
there’ll be no more Ahhh, ahh ahhh
but you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up stand up stand up?
I do believe it’s working, good
That’ll keep you going for the show
Come on, its time to go

But Golden sounded like a player who wanted to commit to UK. He didn’t make a commitment on his visit, but Chaykowsky said “he really liked it.”
“I’m just going to come out and say it - I love that place,” Golden told the Georgetown News-Graphic about Lexington. “It has such a great atmosphere.”

June 29th, 2007 at 5:19 pm
i’m still out here? anyone else?
June 29th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Jesus Matt,
Its pronounced Jare-is, you gotta know that one. His daughter had a very successful high school basketball career at South Oldham High School and i think committed to play at Nebraska in 98
June 29th, 2007 at 5:21 pm
Hey Matt, I was hoping you could me with something either on the radio or a post at some later time. Everyone that comes to this site and the other UK boards like to talk about recruits, future seasons, and even occasionaly rip people who say “first” but I think we should all focus on something more important.
I am not the type to criticize someone for having a typo or two in a post, because I probably have my fair shair, but can we please spell the head coach’s name right for now on. It is Billy G-i-l-l-i-s-p-i-e. That’s it. He is a great coach but he only spells his name one specific way. For now on instead of making fun of people who post “first” please use your energy to correct people who spell Gillispie wrong…and for the other 80%, that get it wrong, just double check to make sure you have actually spelled it right. HE’S THE HEAD COACH!
June 29th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
97) Are you being serious? Who misspelled his name? I always say BCG or Billy G. What do you want Matt to do…come on here
and edit everyone’s incorrect spellings???
June 29th, 2007 at 5:25 pm
97. Try Jim Beam and a liquid valium drip.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:33 pm
Whiskey and Horderves? Who wouldn’t get in that line.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
Pitino is an arrogant guy and he isnt going to act like he believes Louisville is the place to be, he still believes UK is
the best job and place in the country. Hard to embrace what you believe isn’t the best spot in the state.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:38 pm
Not a fan of Pope either…rooted for him with the Pacers just because he played from UK
June 29th, 2007 at 5:39 pm
A reasonable explanation of why he hires UK people is because there are more former NBA recruits that Pitino coached who is
no longer playing vs. guys he coached at Louisville.
He wants to hire former players because that is a recruiting tactic in itself the realization that Pitino will help you
out if your NBA career has ended.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
hey matt inquiry will you please tell the nation
why you supported the destruction of kentucky basketball
by supporting tubby the tundra and bashed the fanbase who
foresaw a different direction kentucky had to take that
did not include your hero tubby
June 29th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
Miles vs. McCarty…I would take McCarty
June 29th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
Louisville guys who have NBA credientials??? thats important for recruiting, Masiello now thats another story…I guess because
he was a ball boy for Pitino when Pitnio was with the Knicks
June 29th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
104) Go away…
June 29th, 2007 at 5:50 pm
104-Living in the past will make you bitter.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:51 pm
don’t mean to play the devils advocate, but none of pitinos players are far enough removed to have such a major college coaching position.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
These UL callers just want to rag. That’s what you get for opening the show up to include them.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:53 pm

June 29th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
I’d like to throw Jared Prickett under a bus… Best assistant ever, Todd Svoboda.
June 29th, 2007 at 6:35 pm
I dont know what the fuss is about McCarty. Who really cares. He will have to mention UK to recruits every time he talks about his playing days. There is alot of positive to this. Compare this to him hiring a former UL player or UMASS player or whoever. This doesnt hurt us, and can only help. Bring on Waltah

For all Kentucky fans that wish Porter would leave for a spot on the roster shuld the article on Kentucky.com disscussion board that Porter has said about Kentucky and the new coaches.
Shame on all of you. Porter is a Kentucky player in heart and soul.
June 29th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
I meant should read the article. Very good insight about how Porter feels about Kentucky basketball. Sounds like he would love for one of the top players in the nation from Modesto to come to Kentucky also.
June 29th, 2007 at 8:22 pm
anyone else hear warren and clarke to commit in the next few days?
June 29th, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Can you link the article on Porter? I couldn’t find it.
June 29th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
Porter is battle tested on the grid-iron, I expect him to contribute throughout his career.
June 29th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
So who is this Patrick Patterson kid that we signed? Looks like he has a lot of potential. Anyone know much about him?
June 29th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
My sources are telling me that we should be getting a commit from a former Michigan commit. Anybody else hearing this?
June 29th, 2007 at 11:28 pm
I personally like Porter and i like his game. I thought he should have played a whole lot more, especially with Jasper played. I want someone in that class to leave, and Porter is not one of them. I think alot of people share this same sentiment. Heres the BUT. He just doesnt have any daylight to play in my mind.
Joe, Ramel and Meeks will play MAJOR minutes. If no 4 guard lineup, then Legion and Jasper are the next two off the bench in most situations. That doesnt leave a whole lot of minutes for Porter. Hopefully Billy G finds a way to use him. I think he is one of those guys that could make big shots and probably isnt afraid to take them. MI
If we see as much zone and struggle like we did last year, then maybe he can play a bigger role. I do think he could be successful in a different situation on a different team.

June 30th, 2007 at 11:16 am
130, you like Porter’s game? With all due respect, I prefer PGs who can get the ball down the floor and who can guard somebody. I’m sure Porter’s a good guy, is kind to animals and all but he’s in over his head as a basketball player at UK. It makes me no nevermind if he stays or goes but unless he’s somehow morphed into Jeff Sheppard or whoever he’ll never see the floor more than cigar minutes.
June 30th, 2007 at 1:08 pm

133) Not always, but as far as dissing on my boy Waltah, yeah pretty much. UK has an assistant spot open. Did they offer him? Did he turn UK down to go to UofL? Is he supposed to sit around and wait for Us to accept him. Sneakers McTool.
