Shhhhhhhh….

by @ 5:29 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

The secret is now safe to let out. Evan Daniels of Scout.com reports that former Florida Gator Eloy Vargas was on UK’s campus today. More in a bit….

Vargas is a 6-10 forward who is originally from the Dominican Republic (see Orlando Antigua) and committed to play for Billy Donovan and Gators in 2008. At that time, Scout.com had him rated as a 4-star recruit and the #12 power forward in his class.

Oddly enough, Vargas actually broke the news himself a couple days ago via Twitter. While searching for a picture of Eloy, I found his twitter account and on Aug.19th at 12:20am, Vargas tweeted, “will be takin a visit to kentucky wildcats this weekend..”

I never knew he left Florida…I think Donovan was hoping Vargas and Kadji would break out like Noah and Horford did their sophomore years.

  5. Dustin Rumbaugh Says:

Sorry. Bad timing. It’ll be back here in an hour. This is a UK site. Any football news gets immediately trumped by basketball news!! Lol.

  6. TayPrinceJr. Says:

I knew it was rumored that he would be academically ineligible but no idea he was transferring.

  7. kybluedevil Says:

How does it make UK look good to take an academically ineligible player at Florida?!
    Need help understanding this one!

  8. dhighdrated Says:

I guess instead of sitting out a year at a lower-tiered SEC East school to get his grades up,
he’d rather sit out a year in Lexington to get the grades up and join the GET SH!T RIGHT circus afterwards.

  9. catdawg Says:

Hasn’t Werner been there like 10 years?

He was the 26th Rivals-rated recruit last season. My first thought is, “HOLY ISH!!!!! THE #26 GUY IN THE WHOLE CLASS OF 2008 WANTS TO COME PLAY UK!!!!!!!”. Then, my second thought is, “Wait, do we even have room for a 4-Star hoopster on the team anymore?

    I love this.

  13. booyakasha Says:

Eloy Vargas isn’t the mystery recruit. Interesting if he visited, but he’s not the guy everyone is wondering about.
