Point guard Hank Thorns out of Las Vegas, today signed to go to Virginia Tech next season. Kentucky had been in communication with Thorns, however no offer was made.

Good for Hank. In my opinion, Lucas would have been good for the future as he would have been an asset with his recruiting and leadership abilities, but Thorns is just a guard, and the Cats have plenty of capable guards. I was expecting Jasper to have a break through year, but maybe the interest in Thorns suggests that the UK coaches may think less of Jasper, and Porter for that matter.

I am glad we decided to go another way with the scholarship,
hopefully we keep it and get a great class next year. I wish
him good luck in the ACC, and hopefully he beats Duke every year.

I just listened to Coach Cox raving about the returning guards we have I don’t think we were ever seriously recruiting Thorns. We will get a better player that we need more by saving the scholarship for next year IMO.

I would rather have Warren, Zeller, Miller, and then a fourth “wild card” scholarship we could play around with–Singleton, Osby, Green, Clarke etc.

#25 apparently they didnt see his dunk from the AAu tourney when they said he had a weakness with finishing. If finishing is a weakness and thats how he dunks over people, I think I can live with those weaknesses.

He should do well there… I think UK gave him a serious look, but decided it was best not to offer, and I’m confident that was the right decision for everyone. Expect Jasper, Porter and B radley to do a fine job handling the point duties.
