Dominique Ferguson talks recruitment in Vegas

by @ 12:26 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

Former UK commitment Dominique Ferguson runs down his recruitment at the Las Vegas camps and mentions Florida, Arizona and Duke are in the mix for his services, adding that he “hopes” to visit Duke. He said that he also plans to visit UK between now and leaving for prep school in Virginia on August 24.

Hijack by Dustin: If you ever wanted proof that I’m not just out there getting pillows for Ole’ Roy or hitting up the Holly Madison Peepshow, here it is. That’s an Arizona cameraman but that’s me asking the line of questions starting with the “What other schools are you and Ray talking about playing together at,” and continuing until asking him about the Team Detroit switch and the missed alley oop from Ray. I haven’t watched the whole thing but I think I also ask him a bit more about Hargrave. This is a great video of Dominique, by the way. Sometimes he’s a little annoyed when he gets a media swarm or a little tired from the games, plus he’s had a pretty stressful spring and summer, but this is him when he’s really at his best and in good spirits.

It sounds like he wants to be THE MAN when he gets to college. I doubt he ends up at Kentucky. There will be too much talent on the team for him to be THE man.

I know the kid has been really busy, but to have commited to UK and then he turns around and has no idea of our guards sends me a clear message that he has minimal interest in our program. I could understand that he’s tied up in his recruitment and would have not much knowledge about all the guards we are going after in his class, but to not know about Bledsoe and to kind of dismiss Hood lets me know where we stand with this kid. Time to move on basically.

    5 – agreed!
He’s just pissed BCG is no longer in Lex since he’ll be ‘disciplined’ after a year at Hargrave and he would have been real ‘tough’ in bcg’s system as the man.
Cal, move on, this kid isn’t worth it…

Horatio, I’m not sure what you are getting at. How is talking to a recruit amateur? What is the “professional” method? If you believe that recruits are the only ones telling lies to the media and not EVERY SINGLE OTHER CELEBRITY OR PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE then you are seriously mistaken. Talking amongst the other media members, coaches, those with AAU involvement and the AAU coaches themselves is certainly another method of getting some great insight into a kids recruitment but its not like you can video tape that or convey it to the public with citations without losing any possible connections and sources of information for the future. Therefore, videotaping interviews with recruits and letting them talk about their feelings toward certain programs, other players on their team, their future, etc. is one of the best ways of conveying some info to the public and I think its great for Beisner to have taken the time to search out this video and post it for you guys to see FREE OF CHARGE! Furthermore, I think its completely rude of you and “amateur” of you to go out of your way to put Beisner down just for trying to keep you guys in the know with everything “UK related” that is out there. He works his butt off to find stuff to post for this site during the slow summer period and you should appreciate that. Hopefully that was just a bad moment for you or you were just a little moody from a weekend hangover or something.
