Video Vault Classic: Rick Returns to Rupp

by @ 3:00 pm. Filed under Video Vault

NOTE: FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT HEARD, THE LEBRON JAMES GETTING DUNKED ON TAPE IS GOING TO BE RELEASED ON T-M-Z TONIGHT AT 6:45.

This Kentucky team was dubbed “Team Turmoil”, yet I had forgotten this team had Prince, Bogans, Fitch, Hayes, Estill, Hawkins, Daniels, Camara, AND ADAM CHILES!!  But in all seriousness, this SHOULD have been Tubby’s best team in the 2000′s.  Makes me think Carruth and Chiles had more of an affect than we realize.

I just finished watching it on youtube before it was posted here, it was amazing! I wish Rupp could be like that again.

  2. TayPrinceJr. Says:

    Lol at 0:59

  3. Wildcat Fan-atic Says:

Rupp was insanely loud that day. Pitino has stated many times that it really bothered him that day. I’m guessing this year will be very similar.

  4. kybluedevil Says:

    What year was this?

  5. recruit_a_shooter Says:

    Chiles???

  6. kybluedevil Says:

    Oh, I see now — 2001.

  7. dhighdrated Says:

ankles broken at 5:47. and Prince’s reaction is priceless.

  8. catfaninchattanooga Says:

go to TMZ.com… they have footage of the mysterious Lebron Crawford dunk

  9. sufjan Says:

Hawkins broke that kid’s ankles SO HARD in the 2nd half.

  10. TheEasternKentuckyHeartbreaker Says:

BTI!!! Will you go to prom with my sister?!! You are the man! First the players tourney.. then the fly cool videos!

  11. alexfork3 Says:

I had forgotten how much swagger Tayshaun had in college, and Eric Daniels with cornrows makes me happy.

  12. the ghost of Bill Hicks Says:

I think BTI is officially not the worst guy anymore….although this video was a little heavy on the Loserville highlights.

  13. bubbleup Says:

Kar-En Syph-Er, clap, clap, clap, clap , clap!

  14. hoosierbaseball34 Says:

  15. Waitin' on 8 Says:

    Dunk = who cares

  16. GoCats2010 Says:

that tay dunk @ 2:10 was NASTY

    ugh, luke whitehead, yuck

  17. GoCats2010 Says:

the Crawford dunk was good, but not OMG HE CLOWNED THAT FOOL good, really it was a 2 handed dunk

  18. alexfork3 Says:

Anyone remember the game when Whitehead fouled out in the first half?

  19. Magloire the Professor Says:

That team was absolutely loaded, on paper. I spent the entire summer telling anyone that would listen that we were a sure-fire, can’t-miss Final Four team. Still blows my mind that Bogans no-showed the entire season, Parker blew his knee out again, and Prince’s senior year was wasted like that.

But, still, this L’ville game was definitely a highlight, and Team Turmoil set the stage for the next season’s resurrection. That’s a team Tubby doesn’t get enough credit for, mostly because DWade was able to go for a triple-double when our All-American SEC Defensive POY was on one leg and couldn’t guard him.

    Do I still sound bitter?

  20. TayPrinceJr. Says:

I’ve seen this video about 7 times already there must be something wrong with me.

  21. ukcat8fan Says:

Here’s the Crawford dunk on Lebron now on Youtube.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw7OaiS1pXI

  22. UndercoverKatfan Says:

Tubby had some great teams, like #19 said, we just ran into a kid who was on his way to becoming an NBA hall of famer.

  23. vandy nerdlinger Says:

Adam Chiles ended up at Murray State with 2001 filthy card
assistant Mick cronin who are both present on opposing benches
    in this game.

  24. Marcus38 Says:

All that hype for that? What a waste..

  25. AppalachianWonder Says:

In addition to the Chiles and Carruth soap opera, don’t forget that Daniels and Fitch were sneaking out with fake IDs, Cliff Hawkins wasn’t going to classes, and Keith Bogans REALLY did not want to still be in college. All those guys finally bought into Tubby’s system at halftime of that game at Vandy in 03 and went on a great run that should’ve ended in a title…but one off night + Dwayne Wade’s coming out party = disappointment.

  26. Magloire the Professor Says:

9 – Yes, the Hawkins crossover at ~5:45 is one of the sickest in UK history!

and whatever happened to Reece Gaines? anybody on here think Terence Williams is better than Gaines was leaving UL?

  27. Magloire the Professor Says:

…and I still think Wade was able to have his coming out party ONLY because Bogans was on one leg, because of the cheap shot move of that little runt Wisconsin player Kirk Penney. We should all still be sending Penney turd sandwiches via FedEx for that incident.

If “Pack of Wild Dogs” was healthy for that game, Wade is his man to guard, and Bogans was probably the best perimeter defender in the country that year (SEC DPOY). And we’d have been FF-bound, back to the SuperDome, where we’d left the nets uncut following the SEC tournament so we could come back for them.

Yeah, I think I’m still bitter.

  28. Black Label Wildcat Says:

    21. Are you going to post that on every UK site? We already have a link thanks.

  29. liveactionjames Says:

i remeber watching carruth i really liked him. he could shoot just never got consistent.

  30. UndercoverKatfan Says:

i had forgotten eric brown from bryan station was on that UofL team, he is crazy as a shit house rat, but he could ball back then!

  31. nickk Says:

at thunder over louisville 2003, i saw Simeon Naydenov from that UofL team walking around by himself in jean shorts and his UofL GAME JERSEY. at first i didnt believe it and thought he might just be wearing a replica as a joke. but as he got closer i realized it wasnt a replica because all the crap on the jersey was embroidered. the worst part was people were actually stopping to get their picture made with him.

looking back on it…that was probably the greatest day of his life. i still think its sad someone who is 6’6” – 220 lbs, looks like this http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/lou/sports/m-baskbl/auto_headshot/p_naydenov.jpg and plays for an “elite” (i use that term loosely) basketball program would have to wear his jersey in public to be recognized. this story is 100% true.

  32. slappy Says:

Look how scared Pitino is when he walks in the arena. Freaking awesome.

  33. Clarence Mason Says:

So many hyped up players that never lived up to their potential played in this game. Chiles, Carruth, Brandon Bender, Carlos Hurt. Amazing.

  34. ukcat8fan Says:

    #28…..Here’s a link for ya. http://www.FU*K YOU.com!!
