April 30th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
2nd
April 30th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
Second!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
he’s already a legend
April 30th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
The man is possessed………wow.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
Opps, 3rd. Go BCG!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
No wonder Billy Clyde needs his own personal plane! That man gets around! Theres not much of a chance that any of the other coaches will get a chance to use it considering BCG’s recruiting! I LOVE IT!!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Damn, I wish I had his frequent flyer miles!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Hey, I think I just saw Billy Clyde walking down my street looking for recruits!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
We need to give Gillispie a raise. Now.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
I doubt he ever gets to use his frequent flyer miles for vacations! Wonder if he’d like to share?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Unbelievable. I really hope he has some time to draw up some plays before the season starts. LOL
April 30th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
wow…
April 30th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
Like I said on Catspause:
That sounds like a heck of a day but its very easy to accomplish in a 14hr day. My father who works for IBM may have 4-5 meeting a day 1 in Ky, NC, NJ, Atl & Chi. Thats why I would never work for IBM.
An with CBC’s work ethic, I wouldn’t be suprised if he stopped at Tyler Zellers house tonight too.
Sounds like he just got his new plane and is using the hell out of it.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Wawaweewah
April 30th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
I saw that Hamga video. Awesome!! The guy has a high school version of the Hakeem O. jumper. Runs the floor, blocks shots etc. This may be the best thing for all concerned.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
I have been a UK fan all my life and havent ever paid attention to recruiting like this before… billy g is a mad-man and uk is sure to be ballin in 07-08,09,10…ps when is the dr. pepper/uk business merger happening?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
I’ll bet CBC hasn’t been in his office a total of five hours since he took the job!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
15, where’d you see the vid?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:36 pm
Unless he met the kid at the airport, there ain’t no way he got out of the ATL by 8:00. Rush our down there is a biotch!!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
So they (UK) have already purchased the plane? I’m in Texas, so I don’t get all the big news down here
That was fast– board’s approval & off to the dealer. Bet its all decked out on the inside with UK colors & logos. Mile high club…
April 30th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Heres a video of him he blocks like crazy.

April 30th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Why in the heck did you support Tubby for so long Matt? Seriously? I don’t get it.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
wow, 21 that was FUNNY…almost.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
22 That’s not important. Matt is supporting BG like all of us.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:41 pm
Is Hamga signing? It would make my week a bit better given the sad and depressing start to the week
April 30th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
24, Matt worshipped Tubby for 2 years in his blogs, and now we’re just supposed to forget that?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:45 pm
Why did the last thread get deleted.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
26. get over it and move on. the “I told ya so’s” are annoying.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:47 pm
26.
Yes. Get over it.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
TC- Why not? It won’t help UK now to rehash the past but if it makes you feel better…. Matt and a lot of UK fans supported OTS because he was the UK coach. He’s not anymore, and it seems like we’re all happy with BG, so why not focus on that? What good will attacking a guy on his free blog do?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Amazing. This man is an animal.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Don’t forget that CBC was in Houston last night for the Lucas visit, which means he probably flew from Texas to Georgia last night, and was there to meet Singleton at 7am the next morning, then visited Patterson in West Virginia, and then visited Hamga (where? Illinois?). Wow, just wow!!!!!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
#18 on some uk site. I cant remember. Maybe on one of the sea of blue links.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
if we were to get Hamga and noone else, Billy G would get an A.
Williams, Stewart, Legion and Hamga would be a solid class. Anything else is
gravy. We could use Ppat but he wont make or break us.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:52 pm
Boys I hope this doesn’t take a toll on his long term health. He has to be a very stressful man. Already there is not a doubt I would rather have billy G than Billy D.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:52 pm
love cbc already
April 30th, 2007 at 10:53 pm
Love this website! Gents isn’t it finally nice to feel like we have options for recruits? BCG is making offers and putting kids into a position to make a decision by sending a message. If we don’t get Jai or PP, I am not worried becuase it is obvious that BCG is a mad man and will find talented players! I sleep better already. Hey Tubbs- How is the recruiting in MN? LOL
April 30th, 2007 at 10:53 pm
Cool, no prob. Billy G was the best possible coach out there for the UK job, including Billy D. Its a match made in heaven.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
what does “cbc” mean
April 30th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
34….Sanchez could also be in that mix…..a real solid class if it happens.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
What are you talking about 13? No one cares about ur daddy.Seriously,
How the hell could you get to KY, NC, Chicago, jersey AND ATL in one day. That is impossible.
Security time at major airports coupled with actual flight time make it impossible. You
sound like Mr. Zadir when he asks Dewy if he grabbed his ass from across the room.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:57 pm
40,
Sanchez would be the gravy!! Go BC go. I cant wait to see actual ATHLETES on the floor.
I loved anyone who suited up, but it was frustrating watching Tubby era big men and overall playing style.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:57 pm
It seems like we are zoo animals and it has been a long slow 2 days….then Marc and Matt throw us a few meat scraps and we jump like hell throwing comments…….I am not sure if it is funny (because it is) or our lives are totally consumed with the success and failure of UK basketball….probably both….no problems here……thanks for the info guys.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:58 pm
Man, with thousands of us trying to follow his every move, we still can’t keep up with this guy! He was probably visiting another recruit or two while you were typing this update. Haha. Man, has this guy made recruiting fun again or what? If there is a negative, it’s the fact that I can’t seem to get anything done as I can’t leave the computer unguarded for 5 minutes out of fear I’ll miss something. With Gillispie, it seems there’s something new every 15 minutes.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:59 pm
Again, even with Tubby’s players, we made it to the 2nd round every year under Tubby…..so, I do feel that Billy will get more out of his players, play more team ball since Morris is gone and we can get just as far or farther next year, just by putting out more and more effort. Injuries is my main concern….gotta stay away from any serious injuries.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:02 pm
If you read the article hobson said it is unlikely he is going to come for 2007 so how come everyone thinks he is coming now.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
Matt - I just saw something very funny. The superfans at DD are always giving you grief, but there are roughly 4 or 5 threads based on your ’scoops’. Ironic?
BTW - Who will be the odd person out? Lucas? Patterson? Sanchez? Hamga?
Could we actually see a situation where recruits are hurrying to sign?
Could BCG pull some scholarship magic?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:04 pm
BCG is the mann!
btw, anyone see chuck hayes win that game for houston tonight? gotta love it.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
He will play 07.{Hamga}..take it to Da bank!
April 30th, 2007 at 11:07 pm
If half of Americans had the work ethic if Coach G. we’d out-produce China with their billion+.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:07 pm
46) Cause Hobson dosn’t know what he is talking about. I trust MM about recruiting over some kid who says he dosn’t think he can reclassify. Hamga will do whatever he wants, and that sounds like playing in 07.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:08 pm
47….what is the “Superfans at DD?” What is that site?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:10 pm
TCCat, your answer is because Tubby was our current coach. Fans are supposed to support their coach. Anyone can bitch and moan, it takes a true fan to support their team regardless.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:19 pm
Does anyone know if Billy G. is in Lexington tonight or on the road again?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:22 pm
54, are you kidding? “True” fans. Please. Most everyone here is a “true” fan, whether they supported Tubby Smith or not. My question to Matt was more for trying to understand why he would support a coach who couldn’t get it done on the recruiting trail, especially since Matt is such a recruiting junkie. It never made sense to me, knowing that there were coaches out there like Billy G who would excel at UK.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
I love this web site! It is so great to have BCG as coach instead of Donovan. Afterall, he has recruited more punks than players at UF. If PP and JL have any common sense or vision, they should pick UK. Do you think people in Florida will know who these two guys are? No way! They will be so much more appreciated in the Bluegrass. They will be known from Paducah to Pikeville, just like all our players. This attention and recognition that all players want will be 100 times more intense now that we have a coach that is motivated!
April 30th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
I think Lucas is ours, and the key is Cyprien (who is a close personal friend of the Lucases). Hiring him was a stroke of genius. Cyprien seals Lucas, and Lucas likely seals Patterson. Not to mention that Cyp is a great coach and recruiter in general. I just hope people realize how good of a hire it was.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
Here’s a scenario that I haven’t seen mentioned: if Hamga, Lucas, and Patterson come, Mike Williams redshirts this year. We only have one 08 scholarship, but how bad is that with this 07 recruiting class?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
The Man is unreal, i’m 28 yrs old and i don’t think i could keep up with this man but i’m glad he’s in Kentucky
April 30th, 2007 at 11:27 pm
Jon, if you are discrediting the Hobson kid on Beas’ reclassification, are you discrediting him about Beas’ decision to not attend UNM?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:29 pm
Great pick up if it is true.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:30 pm
TCCat are you on the wrong website?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
There is a certain appeal to the line “Beas Hamga and his Guardian by night.” Almost sounds like it could be a Steven King novel, which would later be made into a movie that completely ruins its message.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
40) CBC= Coach Billy Clyde
April 30th, 2007 at 11:40 pm
Has anyone heard how Ashley Judd likes CBC?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
61) No. I am saying I believe Marc Maggard when he says the kid is going to reclassify. Hobson, I don’t think would have the samekind of insight. Think about the way you talk to your friends. Do you say definitive things like I will not reclassify, i will go to uk, i will do this or that. I never do, when you are with friends, even things i’ve made my mind up on, I tend to Hum-haw. You know, aww man, shhii, words that mean nothing but let you get on unscathed.
I would Say UK is the favorite, and NM was lip service cause he likes the Kid and Alford. I would think it would be UK or IU.
Just saying, one of them talks to recruits all the time and gets good quality information, and one was chatting it up with his buddy.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
No wonder Billy Clyde drinks Dr. Pepper. It’s to combat the jet lag. Mercy!
From the previous blog post…it sounds really good for us on Hamga. Kentucky comes calling and he’s suddenly very likely to reclassify. Methinks Billy G is utilizing the same “Best program in history and the offer may not come again” angle that got him here. But if Patterson and Lucas both decide to come, then Billy Clyde better have a plan to rearrange schollies, unless it really is first come first serve. I get the feeling Jai and PP have standing offers, though.
And yeah, how awesome would it be to get a Derby Day Dual Announcement?
I think it would be fair to call this dream class Top 5, don’t you think? (Rivals rank and Stars)
Mike Williams **
138 A.J. Stewart ***
45 Alex Legion ****
Beas Hamga (unranked in 07, 32 **** in 08)
15 Patrick Patterson *****
42 Jai Lucas ****
If it happens, that would be 5 top 150 players, including a 5 star, 3 4-stars, a 3-star.
May 1st, 2007 at 12:02 am
66) Honestly, Can’t think of anything I care less about. She’s at all the games sitting with Donna Smith when UK has a good year. How many times did you see her the last two seasons?
She is so freakin’ HOT! That being said, she is a fair weather fan. A REALLY HOT fair weather fan. A REALLY HOT, REALLY FAMOUS fair weather fan.
May 1st, 2007 at 12:11 am
She was at more games than you know…..Plus she has a acting career that takes up a lot of time. During the winter months she was filming a movie..
May 1st, 2007 at 12:30 am
69) How many fans do you know who fly in for more than 1 or 2 games a year?
Last I heard, she still watches or records every game.
And she was at one of the games this year that we blew…Georgia maybe? Was she at the Florida game?
She’s not a fair weather fan, though she has maybe been a little less excited in recent years. You’d have to ask her.
And like 70 said, she has an acting career, as well as speaking engagements, etc, that take up a lot of time. When she does a movie, I doubt she gets much of a chance to come to Lexington what with the 14+ hr work days God knows where.
May 1st, 2007 at 7:23 am
i’ve prayed for years that we would get a coach that loved, lived, & eat basketball like we do here at kentucky……at one time in my younger years i thought the reason God put me on earth was to play basketball but i was wrong the lord new i would be a WILDCAT fan like him…….
May 1st, 2007 at 7:38 am
Gillispie lost his wife because of so much travel. Pity the poor pilot. Ha
May 1st, 2007 at 7:39 am
Unless he is a pilot himself.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:10 am
I seriously doubt UK already has a plane for Billy but I do think we’ve found some people who are letting us use their corporate/private jets to get around. No way Billy is dealing with airports and security bs. So that’s how he can get around so easily.
Just amazing the difference between the current and past staff in regards to recruiting. Can’t wait to see what he can for the players this year.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:24 am
Regarding Ashley, since CBC has no wife to sit with Ashley during the games, I have coaxed CBC to arrange for me to be her chaperon and security person at games
May 1st, 2007 at 9:05 am
fyi…. according to Mike Pegram, Beaz turns 19 years old at the end of July.
May 1st, 2007 at 9:07 am
I know where she been but I’m not one to kiss and tell.
May 1st, 2007 at 10:34 am
Do the people who write “First” or “Second” have nothing to say that anyone would care about?
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 1st, 2007 at 12:01 pm
80th!!!!!!!! YEEEAAAHHHH BOOOOOYYYYYYY
May 1st, 2007 at 2:03 pm
79–what do you have to say? I agree with you
May 1st, 2007 at 3:32 pm
CBG is all over it. I don’t think OTS even got out of bed before noon.
