Marc Maggard reports that Beas has now decided he wants to reclassify for 2007 if possible and Billy Clyde visited today in the late afternoon. Rob Gidel has confirmed it. News keeps coming…..
From a New Mexico Newspaper Blog:
Don’t count on highly touted center Beas Hamga to play in The Pit. Unless he’s visiting in a blue-and-white jersey, of course.
The 7-footer out of Decatur (Ill.) Christian School has decided not to play for New Mexico in favor of Kentucky, said Lobo signee Darrington Hobson, former teammates with Hamga at Decatur, on Monday.
Decatur coach Alan Huss said last week New Mexico was in Hamga’s top five. The Cameroon native is the fourth-best center in the class of 2008, according to Rivals.com. Recent reports stated Hamga would try to qualify for the class of 2007, but Hobson said that’s unlikely.

April 30th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
You go Billy!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:13 pm
anyways i would love to get him and PP or Sanchez because i think we could get Brandon Jennings or that Fortson guy for 08. we need help down low PRONTO!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:13 pm
DId anyone say
WOW!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:13 pm
Is that possible? I know BCG is a workhorse but being in Ga., WVa., and Illinois is pretty damn tough even with a private jet.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
okay so he was in ATL in the morning with singleton then with PP in the early afternoon and Beas in the late afternoon? how does this man do it?!?!??!?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
I just have to say that as good as the info was that I got from this site for recruiting. Adding Marc made the info (quantity and quality) a lot better. Not saying you guys don’t know what you’re talking about, but Marc goes to all the AAU stuff and seems to relate real well with the recruits.

9.
He is the Lizard king. He can do anything.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:17 pm
I heard that Billy Clyde actually cloned himself so he could recruit in multiple places at once. He keeps all the clones in the back room at Sal’s, which explains why he is seen eating there daily. It’s kind of like the movie “Multiplicity,” except none of the clones are retarded.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:17 pm
BEAS IS OURS!!! Next Year: PG- Bradley/Jasper SG- Crawford/Legion SF- Meeks/Jasper PF- Stevenson/Stewart C- Hamga/Carter

April 30th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
This guy looks to be a monster, a great late get! All late signees are not bad, let’s hope this one turns out well!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
I’ve come to realize that there’s really no such thing as a slow day when Billy Clyde Gillispie is your coach.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:21 pm
This recruiting info is amazing, if anyone forgets how it use to be, Check out what Tubby is doing in Minnesota.
Billy Clyde is a miracle worker.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
Thats what I am talking about. A kid who actually wants to come to KY. None of this keep people on hold for a year. It’s good to see a smart kid that knows a great program when he sees it!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
So what if Jai, PP and Hamga ALL sign with the Cats. That’s 5 guys when there was only 3 available scholarships.
Who leaves the program?
Who comes off scholarship?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
Sorry….that’s 4 guys counting Legion.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
We have 3 schols left. We had 5 total.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:23 pm
20 - Regarding that question, does anybody know the logisitics behind putting somebody on academic scholarship? Can you just up and do that or are there NCAA restrictions on how you make that play?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
I think they have to be enrolled for 2 years to go on academic ride
April 30th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
Play for the BEST … and that is UK Basketball … sorry Gator readers, your rein is over!!!!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:25 pm
This is starting to get better than a Johnsonville Braut. Heaven on a bun.
Let’s just hope those juicy brauts aren’t poked and turn out nicely.
Go Coach BCG!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:25 pm
22-are you sure?
All I’ve heard is that there were 3 available to give out.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
WOW! Absolutely awesome update.
And might I add, that the pay sites must absolutely hate Matt and MM’s guts.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
WHy is it so hard for everyone to figure out how many scholarships we have?
We had five available. ONe to Williams, one to Stewart and one to Legion.
That is three that are taken. Three from five means we have 2 left.
Also, Marc has said multiple times that if we get more players than available scholarships, that the problem will work itself out.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:26 pm
I think there is a plan or BG wouldn’t be offering. Don’t worry about the schollies. Coach will make it work. As of now we don’t even know about PP, JL or MS. It would be great to get Beas in the fold and let the chips fall where they may with the rest.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
27..you are right…I forgot about Legion. We have 2 left to give out.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:27 pm
Damn. That sounds pretty absolute if Hobson knows what he’s talking about. And I would imagine he does. But if this turns out to be true, folks, we’re back! We would be a very solid team next season if we can add Hamga/Legion to the rest of our class and returning players. We’d no longer depend on Patterson/Lucas for survival.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
Are we absolutely positive no one is transferring.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
#26, are you Dave Baker in disguise? The Johnsonville Brats thing gave you away (the commercials he did on WLAP). Hehe.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
did anybody see Hayes tonight? He took a charge and blocked a shot in the final seconds of the game. Go Big Blue!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
BuT Hobson said it is unlikely he can reclassify for 2007. Is this just him being angry or truth?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
33.
As of now? Yes.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
27) We currently have 2 open schollies. I have heard that Jared Carter is a really good student and may be able to switch over to a academic ride if need be. Im not use what the logistics are with how that all works but as long as Coach Clyde does thats all that matters
April 30th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
Sometimes the best source are player’s teammates and friends……..this is looking better and better….
April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Just heard new St. Louis coach Rick Majerus also visited Houston to get in touch with the Lucas family, but got side tracked and never made it, end up recruiting something else;

April 30th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Not to name any names….but some of the returning Tubby recruits are going to have to RAISE their games substantially if they want to get any playing time next season. Billy G is doing a remarkable job….
April 30th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
I owe Matt and Marc a beer each. Remind me one day.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Do you really think Coach was in three different places today.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
lets see… hmmm.. New Mexico, Kentucky, Nex Mexico, Kentucky… I guess I would have to think about 5 seconds on that one!
April 30th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
36 - More likely than either of those is that he just doesn’t know.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Beas Hamga…..if UK can suddenly find a fax that made Randolph Morris eligible to return to school, I am sure the folks over there can find a way to make this young man eligible to play next year. Would this give us 3, 7 footers? So, 3, 7 footers and a bunch of short guys……..again, just a 6′ 8″ swing player that can play inside and hit a 3 away from being ready to go.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
haha if Tubby can pull off the amazing fax on a cluttered desk, anything is possible.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
One other thing……..look there is talent on the current squad. As you can see from watching Texas A&M, besides their unbelievably good looking cheerleaders, that BCG got the absolute MOST out of his players…..I don’t think Tubby did. I think you will see a vastly improved energy level, teamwork and leadership on this team…plus improved fundamentals…..part of Jasper’s issues were lack of fundamental dribbling and passing (one handed passes that got picked off) not to mention a “low confidence” jump shot. No national championship of course, but you will see one of the biggest stories in college basketball next year……again, BCG is not God…..but the players will love him after they hate him for working them out so hard……they will run through a wall for him by the time the season starts….heck you will see a difference at Midnight Madness…..just wait and see….sit back and watch a fun season….win or lose, you will love the product on the floor.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
Who is Beas Hamga?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:41 pm
^More than a man.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
How do you pronounce his name?
April 30th, 2007 at 10:43 pm
No 44 It has been said that he visited Chris Singleton and Patrick patterson also today. I do not know where Singleton is from.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:48 pm
BEE-ASS HAHM-GA
April 30th, 2007 at 10:48 pm
52.
ATL. Singleton is from ATL.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
53. I thought it was Bee-azz
April 30th, 2007 at 10:50 pm
#51, it’s pronounced as Bee-Az (like Cameron DIAZ). Apparently his friends call him “Big Ass Hamga” though. Hehe.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I don’t think we get Sanchez and Patterson, so I don’t think the scholly thing will be a problem.
Well.. we have 2 left, so there’s no way we can take all four (even if you think it will work out some how) but filling the last 2 and taking 1 extra player might be possible…. it would take some finagling… but Patterson probably isn’t coming anyway. We can probably get Hamga and Lucas…. then maybe one of the other two. Sanchez loves Arkansas, and Patterson is probably leaning towards Florida… we’ll see though.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:56 pm
I hope we get Hagma and Sanchez that way I don’t have to listen to Patrick Patterson/Lucas bull**** anymore. They both seem to be enjoying being the center of attention a little too much for me.
April 30th, 2007 at 10:57 pm
“One Riot. One Ranger!” Ole Billy G is bringing order to these parts and we town folk are simply amazed….
April 30th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
BCG has a plan…..he seems to be recruiting as if Lucas and Patterson are not coming…which is actually fine with me. You have to….however, if he does get one or both of them, you want to have more players than scholarships…..it will work out one way or the other…don’t worry about the # of scholarships available…just sit back and watch.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
Now, by golly, this is news worthy! A player that can make a freaking decision!
April 30th, 2007 at 11:03 pm
I have no true opinion on whether or not JL or PP will go to UK but taking their egos/personalities into consideration, I believe Saturday at the Derby on national TV would be the perfect platform for them to reveal that they bleed blue.
April 30th, 2007 at 11:32 pm
62) That would be awesome! Remind the whole (wide) world (of sports) why Kentucky rules! Since ESPN is covering the Derby, it would just be that much sweeter! In your face Vitale! Dickie V needs to be put in his place. Wonder if that’s a legal place for them to sign an LOI? Or, could it be considered a recruiting gift?
April 30th, 2007 at 11:57 pm
Acording to TCP Hamga is going to try and go for 2007, and he said Kentucky is the FAVORITE….
April 30th, 2007 at 11:58 pm
64) So Hamga (specifically) said that UK is his favorite?
May 1st, 2007 at 8:03 am
I just read on a site from New Mexico State that Hamga was coming to Kentucky. Also that Alford had signed and is trying to sign some JC players. I have come to a conclusion that if Gillispie did not know that Hamga and Lucas was coming to Kentucky that he would be busy trying to sign these players. One that signed with NMS is 6-10. Maybe he is not good enough to play at Kentucky but he would have two years experience anyway.
I have a feeling that Gillispie already knows more than us fans.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:11 am
I agree with Chuch Alexinis. I think that Gillispie can and will get the utmost results from the talent that Kentucky has in these freshmen to be sophomores and seniors.
Gillispie had only one star on the entire A&M team. AC Law. And they beat Kansas and Texas once I think.
He did say that they were better than he thought that they were before he saw them live and up close.
May 1st, 2007 at 8:13 am
Good coaches can make very good players out of players with not a great lot of talent. Roy Williams can mess up great talent though.
May 2nd, 2007 at 6:15 pm
I suck balls like the L’ville cardinals
May 7th, 2007 at 9:37 pm
