    first?

  2. Knowledge Says:

    SECOND!

  3. Kyle Heine Says:

Congrats to the Toppers for getting a winner!

  4. Dherb Says:

Pettigrew will be a great player for WKU. Im glad that we passed tho. He was to much
of a risk for us to take.

  5. Dherb Says:

Congrats to Pettigrew and WKU. Goodluck.

  6. Drake Says:

I know that Western sure is out-recruiting Murray State for
in-state talent! They got Ty Rogers, A.J. Slaughter, and now
Pettigrew, all within the last few years. MSU needs to step it up!

  7. matt colvin Says:

Great for Stephon! Good luck with the Hilltoppers!

  8. universityofkentuckywildcats Says:

I have heard some Hilltopper fans say they hope he isn’t using WKU as a Juco type stop.

  9. Bearcat24 Says:

MSU is a hard sell considering the location/size of the town. BG has more to offer IMO. A friend of mine played pick up games with Pettigrew at E-town Sunday and Dennis Felton came up to watch him and afterwards shook Pettigrew’s hand and offered him good luck at WKU. He called Horn that night and committed apparantly.

  10. loukat Says:

Glad he didn’t go to an SEC rival. Takes away some of the risk for CBC of having another Lofton situation if Pettigrew turns out to be a D-1 stud.

  11. uk7spd Says:

Good luck Pettigrew…the kid has heart and I wish him all the best (he will star at WKU).

  12. Gerry DiNardo Says:

good point loukat, this is another win for BG

  13. bthendren Says:

Did the Xavier offer fall through? I can’t imagine someone choosing WKU over Xavier. Oh well, good luck to him.

  14. darth vader Says:

I wish him only the best. If i were in charge up at UK, he may very well have come here…

  15. Drake Says:

I think Murray has just as much to offer as WKU. Just my opinion
    though.
Could S.P. be another Patrick Sparks, were if he turns out to be a good
player for WKU, he could transfer to UK if we have a need?

  16. JKW1974 Says:

He will be a good fit at Western. So far as MSU goes, I don’t see Coach Kennedy as being the recruiter his predecessors were. MSU is now in decline, and won’t return to their glory until they get a new coach.

  17. Just for the record Says:

15 - If he turend out to be another Patrick Sparks, then he’d be in great shape and tear it up at Western and then gain twenty pounds and a bad attitude at UK.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Sparks and I love seeing homegrown talent succeed at UK, I was just disappointed with him after his awesome career as a Topper. Just didn’t seem consistently inspired with Tubby.

  18. DocKat Says:

WKU does have a rich history - it is 16th in all time wins as of 2004 (ahead of Louisville - #23, Arizona - #21, Ohio St. - #27, and UConn - #33). Good get for the Tops.

  19. Drake Says:

I don’t know why you’d say that about Kennedy at MSU. He was
left with a bare cupboard by Cronin. He had to clean up some of
the mess that had been left by Cronin as well (Trey Pearson). I think he deserves more time to get it turned back around before you just write him off, I
was just stating how I think the program could be better if in-state
    recruiting were stepped up.

  20. Jon Says:

    13) I never thought Xavier was that seious an option, regardless of what was being said. He wouldn’t have evr played for Xavier, coming in behind Dante jackson. Good luck to him at Western. He probably wont get many minutes as a Frosh Coutney Lee, Boris Siakam, Ty rogers, but minutes should really pick up his somhmore season.

  21. Anonymous Says:

That will great for him to go against Courney Lee everyday, he should gain alot from that.

  22. Daniel Says:

    Steffphon, darn it

  23. Jon Says:

I’ve seen enough of this Steffphon business. From now on, I’m just gonna call him Steven

  24. Knowledge Says:

So let me get this straight, this lame ass Talk Southern Sports site has now copied you guys and opened up The Sports Mafia?

    Lame

  25. BDinSC Says:

bthendren is a Looserville fan…….he’s pissed that S.P. is wearing the other red and black.

  26. Rabid Cat Says:

Pettigrew said that Xavier could not give him playing time right away. WKU can. Thats why he didnt go there even though they are a better basketball team.

  27. -HAZELSMACK- Says:

…on why he chose WKU over Xavier…

S.P. will be close to home and be the man at a great school. Etown is less than an hour from Bowling Green. Go Toppers!

  28. THAT SUCKS! Says:

PETTIGREW SUCKS STARTING TODAY FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS….GO EKU WOO WOO !!!!!!!

  29. Rabid Cat Says:

Pettigrew gave an interview in the local news paper and said that the coach at Xavier could not gaurantee much playing time in the upcoming season. Thats the main reason chosing WKU.

  30. Seymour Says:

Pettigrew will be better off playing at Western. If at UK, he would not get as much PT as he would have gotten at X. I hope that he will get into a field where he can get a good degree as he will go pro in something other than sports. Good luck to you SP.

  31. UKisforreal Says:

  32. Yoda Says:

He who has many “F” sounds in his name, basketball he will play well. Fun to say it is.

  33. Jesse Sharpton Says:

He will play 2 years at WKU,
maybe even 1 and then transfer
to play for his dream coach at
    Minnesota.

  34. blue blinders Says:

Good luck SP. As for MSU. Murray is a long way from anywhere. Middle of nowhere. Very pretty country. 2.5 hours from Memphis. 3 hours from Louisville, 2.5 Nashville, and 2.5 St. Louis. go big blue

  35. TubbyCAT Says:

CONGRATS to Mr. Basketball, good choice, good school!

  36. Knowledge Says:

So he thought he might get more time next year at UK than at Xavier? Is this kid delusional?

  37. V-in-K Says:

Glad he still has Kentucky on his shirt(just Western not UofK)

  38. 69'Z Says:

Good move for SP. He’ll do well at WKU.

  39. Rabid Cat Says:

UK would be worth sitting the bench for a season

  40. V-in-K Says:

(I think UK will be loaded soon enough) ;)

  41. Jon Says:

    36) No, he would have been willing to give up minutes to play at UK, like carrier was willing to give up minutes when he could have been a star at Western. When it comes to the second tier schools, then he was looking for minutes. And it’s not just about this year. Pettigrew is not gonna get many minutes this year, WKU is to good 2-4 with Rogers,Lee and Siakam, But at Xavier, he would’ve never played. He was recruited over alredy just looking at Jackson coming in this year, Frease next, etc. etc.

  42. Anonymous Says:

JON, on the previous thread, thanks for pointing out my grammar error and then turning around and making one yourself..
    LMAO….brilliant….

I’ll clean up my grammar and proofread, however u NEED to do the same, HYPOCRITE!!!

  43. Anonymous Says:

    41) please use “too” as opposed to “to”

LMAO, still laughing about your hiprocracy!!!!!
proofread Jon, u want to point out everyone else’s grammar!!!!

  44. Dave G. Says:

    17) Would you have been with the clown OTS?

  45. Tom Crean Says:

Shut up already. Just speak to the story at hand and worry about yourself.

  46. Bobby Says:

Good job for Western. As an EKU student I’m looking forward to seeing him play here in Richmond next season.

  47. Dave G. Says:

45 WHO WAS THAT AIMED AT?

  48. Jon Says:

    43) too means in addition to. or aswell. or in excess, like too much. The only to that I missed is off the curser, when I can’t see what I’m writing, it becomes much more difficult to correct it. Not sure what you’re talking about on the last thread, already moved on to this one. If you are the same Anony. who things it’s dirty for florida to move up their visit, but completley kosher for UK to move up their visit, quite honestly, you are the hypocrite. No time for you.

  49. Jon Says:

Everyone glad that Tom Crean coaches Marquette instead of UK say I

  50. Rabid Cat Says:

There appears to be a lot of county school grads in this here forum.

  51. 69'Z Says:

    aye

  52. Jon Says:

    50) You mean forum only has one U? You learn something everyday. ;) Coulda sworn it ws fourum when i was in school.

  53. Big Ass Beas Says:

    IIIII

  54. Jon Says:

    53) They say it’s his name is pronounced BEE-AZ, but i gotta say, I hope we get him cause I know I’ll pronounce it BYAH!

I’ve never been more excited about a player, mostly because of the name.

  55. Anonymous Says:

Jon. let me quote u in 41) tough guy…

“WKU is to good 2-4 with” (would u not say u were saying excessive there “too”)

again, u started the grammar knit picking and turned around and made 2 stupid errors!!
i’m saying dont criticize unless your grammar is perfect…HYPROCITE..

also, check yourself in 48 (If you are the same Anony. who things it’s dirty for florida)
things???? your an idiot Jon….u meant “thinks” right….see how easy it is to make error..
    LOSER

  56. Rabid Cat Says:

    Forum is correct.

  57. killerthrees Says:

He was never really truly interested in Murray , To good a player to go down a notch. Billy Kennedy is going to be a winner at Murray. Racers are in a rebuilding era. I’m happy Cronin is gone!

    http://racerinsider.com/new/

  58. Jon Says:

55.) I can’t fix what I can’t see. When the text goes off the page, I can’t see it’s wrong untill after it’s posted. Pointed it out before, and same thing happened again in 48. If i could see what i was typing, it’d be different. If this is really something you wanna start a fight over, use a name and come talk to me. This issue got started when you stated Donovan was dirty for getting his visit moved back, but thought it very different when gillispie moved his visit back.

    56) I was saying fourum tongue-in-cheek. I know forum is right. I was trying to joke around a bit with you.

  59. Burly Says:

WKU is the hot College in Kentucky right now. They are the fastest growing University in the Commonwealth and with them going D-1 in Football I see great things in the future for WKU. This was a great choice for S.P.

  60. David Says:

I am an alumni of WKU and native of BG - and a UK season ticket holder! I’m thrilled for Western and SP. He will help them. I’m glad he is staying in-state. Go Toppers!

  61. Jon Says:

    60) And, BG is a beautiful city. If they had a Pharm Program, that’s were i’d be instead of UK. Good Fishing, Mammoth Cave, and the campus is really nice. Plus Corvette plant. God I wish I decided to major communications everytime I talk about the city. Really great school, and all sporting events are free for students (atleast when i was looking to pick a school a few years ago)

  62. Ransmith Says:

Good move - it should be a great fit!
