[Moderated by Matt Jones]

We have been covering Patrick Patterson for a long, long time. And one of the days this recruitment will end…..maybe. According to Patrick in this new article, he is enjoying the attention that exists from being the highest rated recruit left in America. The article also states that Billy Clyde has made quite a move up Patrick’s list since he became the Kentucky coach.
We hope to have some updates on the big visits from the weekend tomorrow….check in as the day goes on…..

up late tonight matt? me too, but i have an organic chemistry final in about 36 hours
April 29th, 2007 at 2:31 am
These have been the slowest two news days in a long time for UK basketball.
The first few initial weeks of CBC have spoiled us with his fast and furious recruiting where something was happening every night.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:40 am
I can’t believe how we’ve been held hostage by this kid. No one recruit should ever have this much power over Kentucky again. At least Billy is casting a wide net for next year, a VAST improvement from the past several years.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:50 am
Glad to see he’s at least saying Kentucky is back up there where they were before Tubby left…
April 29th, 2007 at 2:51 am
J Love where are you from? Just curious
April 29th, 2007 at 3:02 am
Lexington, but I live in Louisville now (ugh).
April 29th, 2007 at 3:02 am
This may be a very stupid question, but, can Kentucky take a scholarship away ,because that player isn’t very good?
April 29th, 2007 at 3:02 am
Why do you ask?
April 29th, 2007 at 3:03 am
#9 Scholarships are given on a year to year basis. A player’s scholarship can be taken away, but usually the coach just has a private meeting and encourages the player to transfer to another school. The coach usually helps to facilitate that transfer.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:04 am
Yes, they can… But it would not look good as a potential recruit knowing they pull scholarships out from under players.
Scholarships are year to year, and it’s pretty much assumed that they’ll be renewed yearly.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:16 am
J Love I have a friend named John Love I thought you may be him but he is from Glasgow
April 29th, 2007 at 3:17 am
what ever happened to Perry’s cousin??Is he still on the team? And , Ramon Harris did he get red-shirted last year? And Coury ,he’s terrible,I hope he gets asked to transfer .
April 29th, 2007 at 3:17 am
so many questions?>
April 29th, 2007 at 3:18 am
did any one here know my Best friend Kuz???
April 29th, 2007 at 3:18 am
I can’t find the main message board I’m to drunk.Sorry
April 29th, 2007 at 3:20 am
Sleep it off You’ll feel better in the morning
April 29th, 2007 at 3:23 am
Thanks BCG.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:23 am
do you know the answer to my first group of questions?
April 29th, 2007 at 3:26 am
Perry’s cousin is a walk on Don’t know about Harris and Coury will probably be a walk on this year because ou’re right he is terrible
April 29th, 2007 at 3:27 am
How cool would it be if we got rid of coury and some other bad tubby recruit and we landed Sanchez, patterson, lucas, and Hamga! That would be a dream come true!!!!!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 3:28 am
Yeah almost too good to be true. We can all hope though
April 29th, 2007 at 3:28 am
harris was not red shirted and I think curry was a walk on along with perry
April 29th, 2007 at 3:29 am
if they took away his scholy that would give us 3 more for this class, right? And if harris gets his taken also that would give us 4?
April 29th, 2007 at 3:29 am
yeah I think you’re right barney
April 29th, 2007 at 3:30 am
that sucks Barney ! Ok then just walk on Harris!!!Then we can get 3 of the 4 for this year!!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 3:30 am
Oh how I hope Dreams can come true!!!Go UK
April 29th, 2007 at 3:31 am
I don’t think they will take Harris’s schollie I’ve heard he is actually pretty decent, Rumor is he turned down UCONN to be a cat. I think everyone will be really suprised next year some of the players we have will be so much better because BG will work with them and they will regain the confidence they lost with Tubby
April 29th, 2007 at 3:34 am
25) You can’t take away scholarships from walkons. It’s like car jacking a hobo. Physically not possible. Harris is a good player, but came in the middle of the season, so was really out of the rotation all year. He’s a better player than Porter.
And for all practicle causes, you can’t pull scholarships because the negative outways the positive.
And, our problem, roster wise, is 6 sophmores.
You apparently want us to add 7 freshman. That’s alot of the youngsters. We need to save up some roster spots for ‘08 and ‘09, cause 09 currently wont have any scholarships available, with 0 juniors.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:34 am
with tubby we were always held hostage by recruits (hansbrough, wright and a host of others) but with coach billy we’ll never be put into this situation again
April 29th, 2007 at 3:36 am
we have 0 scholys avail. for 09???
April 29th, 2007 at 3:36 am
Coury is a WALKON people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s not gonna get kicked off because he won’t be occupying a scholarship anyway. Tubby only had him on one this past season because he was short of players and had a ride left open.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:36 am
I agree barney Coach billy is awesome. We will finally get the talent back that we deserve EVERY YEAR not just every now and then when someone is on his ass to do better
April 29th, 2007 at 3:36 am
just the one we used on Villarino
April 29th, 2007 at 3:37 am
correct. But I’ve never seen you here before. and the questions are kinda ridiculous, so you’re either messing with us, or REALLY far behinf. Either way, it’s late and i’m going to sleep. Good night.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:38 am
UKfan215 chill dude no one said he wasn’t
April 29th, 2007 at 3:38 am
I completely agree BCG and BArney!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 3:39 am
I guess I’m far behind.I just wasn’t sure who was walk-on and who had sholarships and how many were available.Sorry I didn’t realiize people were so touchy about that.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:39 am
35) No, ZERO. NONE. ZIP. Villarino has agrred in principle, but at the time being, we have no ‘09 scholarships available. not even for Villarino. 2009 is far off and we way get a scholly back with early entrents and transfers, but right now, 0 schoolies.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:41 am
Guys check this out about how fraudulent UCLA titles run is. Here’s a quote from Bill Walton - “UCLA players were so well taken care of — far beyond the ground rules of the NCAA — that even players from poor backgrounds never left UCLA prematurely (for pro basketball) during John Wooden’s championship years,” Walton said. “If the UCLA teams of the late 1960s and early 1970s were subjected to the kind of scrutiny Jerry Tarkanian and his players have been, UCLA would probably have to forfeit about eight national championships and be on probation for the next 100 years.”

April 29th, 2007 at 3:41 am
after this up coming season is over i think we will see boys leaving
April 29th, 2007 at 3:42 am
37) It was inferred that Courry scholarship should be pulled. That says he isn’t a walk on. UKfan was just saying, in a yelling fashion, that this isn’t the case.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:43 am
Jon why are you acting like I’m an idiot for not knowing as much about recruiting as you do?I love Uk basketball ,but up until recently I was not as involved with the entire recruiting process.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:43 am
Billy will work something out he will not let Vilarino not get a scholarship. After this year you may see some house cleaning. Example: Williams and Porter if they do not meet the expecations Maybe even Carter if he gets a really decent center like Beas who knows though
April 29th, 2007 at 3:45 am
Jon I know what he was saying I am not stupid he just didn’t have to be so damned rude.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:45 am
44) don’t know you from Adam, but honestly, just correcting you when you are wrong. I never said you were an idiot for being behind, and trust me, if you were an idiot, i’d let you know. Ask around, i let it fly. I really can’t get bated into an argument with you though my friend, i have to go to sleep. Goodnight.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:46 am
My questions were answered and I appreciate it.now I can act like an asshole to anyone who asks stupid questions.J/K You guys keep it real and lets look forward to many great seasons of UK ball here to come.Peace
April 29th, 2007 at 3:46 am
Night Jon Sleep tight
April 29th, 2007 at 3:47 am
Later JOn
April 29th, 2007 at 3:47 am
45 i agree with you porter could move on and also the alaskan assassin
April 29th, 2007 at 3:48 am
Goodnight blizair you need to sleep off your drinking. Good luck with the headache
April 29th, 2007 at 3:50 am
Yeah Barney I would say anyone who doen’t meet the expectations will be out. They will be replaced by the 5 stars that are interested in us now we are moving up.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:51 am
45) We wont run anyone off. They way MArc makes it sound, the rules have changed and good students can switch over to Academic schollies after a certain amount of years ( i think he said 2) Porter is a great student, he’ll switch if it’s allowed. Williams has a 3.2 in HS, so he may be up for that too. And, i didn’t act like you were stupid, and the reason people are rude is cause it’s 4 in the damn morning. The patience I have when i wake up (albeit low) is MUCH greater than when i’ve been awake for 16 hours. I assume UKfan is the same way, probably you too. Most of us arn’t at our best at extreme hours.
Seriously though, last comment, going to sleep, closing the site shutting down the computer.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:52 am
I’m not going to be so quick to write Harris off since he only got to play the tough part of the schedule and didn’t really get anytime to click with the team… Until we see what he can do over the course of a full season, I can’t say he’s not a good player… But I won’t say he is either.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:52 am
BCG I live in Texas and I have both my brother in law and sister in law go to A&M.They are both still pissed about the move.I am a true blue kentucky boy that grew up in Lexington and have been a fan of UK ball for as long as I can remember.I was there in 96 partying on Euclid Ave and in San Antonio in 98.I have never been this excited about Uk ball in my life.I find myself day in and day out obsessed with recruiting, and Billy G. I believe in my heart of hearts that he is Uk’s Savior. I loverd Tubby also and think he is a great coach but he was well overdue.I’m sure most fans have the same feelings as myself.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:53 am
Oeuh good point
April 29th, 2007 at 3:55 am
I hope HArris turns out to be a stud ,but did you watch him this season in the games he played in?He was BAD!
April 29th, 2007 at 3:57 am
Coury bad! What about this walk-on that decided last week to come to UK?Does anyone know much about him?I’m not sure his name right now.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:59 am
i know that we can’t have all 4 and 5 star players, but i’m looking forward to not seeing ttr(typical tubby recruits)that never develop
April 29th, 2007 at 4:01 am
Blizair here is our walk on
http://www.kentucky.com/276/story/49731.html
April 29th, 2007 at 4:04 am
IT seems that this recruiting class and 05’s class have been the worst by Tubby.06 wasn’t horrible,we have the potential with Stevenson, and Meeks and Jasper are both good and will be transformed into studs by BCG.We just invested to much time and interest with one year wonder Brandon Wright.05’s class was pitiful!
April 29th, 2007 at 4:05 am
Barney,I’ve read that and some other articles on him just haven’t seen him in action.
April 29th, 2007 at 4:29 am
jon needs to take care of business…because he is a lil uptight…and a lildowntight
April 29th, 2007 at 4:36 am
http://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=668431
Look at this!
April 29th, 2007 at 5:50 am
Could someone feel me in on what the heck you are referring to when you the initials “CBC?” Such as in reply #4.
I can’t think of anything that would seem obvious enough to think using those initials gets your point across. But maybe I’m just a moron.
April 29th, 2007 at 6:11 am
Harris should have been redshirted. A whole year wasted for 47 seconds of time on the court.
The better he is, the more angry we’ll be with the former coach.
Hand to mouth mastermind.
April 29th, 2007 at 6:31 am
Jon, have you seen both Porter and Harris play very much? How do you know that Harris is a better player than Porter? I saw all the games last year and I never saw either one of the play enough to know if one could play better than the other. Just curious.
April 29th, 2007 at 6:34 am
Aminu has already been offered a scholarship by NC. Fact. Although he has not acceptedd it yet.
April 29th, 2007 at 8:19 am
66, Clyde Billy Clyde
April 29th, 2007 at 8:33 am
Well that cleared it up
April 29th, 2007 at 9:04 am
well, about patrick patterson. i know everyone’s fed up with him, but why would you sign early when you can wait around and get the red carpet rolled, the best treatment and offers from big time schools. i dont know a high school kid or even a grown adult who wouldn’t love that.
April 29th, 2007 at 9:24 am
cbc= coach billy clyde
April 29th, 2007 at 9:24 am
what a primadonna….
April 29th, 2007 at 9:56 am
One thing is for sure with Patrick P… after all of this crap he has set the bar so.o.o high on expectation that he better come out shooting and playing like a beast, NO MATTER WHICH SCHOOL HE PICKS, because the media and fans of that school are going to EXPECT it from him. And, if he doesn’t, he is probably going to be bashed big time… especially by the fan base from the schools he doesn’tt choose.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:04 am
Jon is a Bitch and should not be allowed to post! He can’t spell, he is dumber than a stack of s–t, and he thinks he knows it all!! I wished I could meet him in person and laugh my ass off at his dumbass!!
April 29th, 2007 at 10:10 am
Very, VERY tired of PP. I hope he plays in the ACC and we never hear from him again.
Oh, and we need more football posts.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:23 am
#75 You’re absolutely right. Patterson has put himself in the position of pretty much having to become a college superstar - or he is going to have to take a lot of heat. It is never a done deal for a high schooler to transfer his HS greatness to college/pro greatness.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:46 am
Cut ties with pompous kid….We are afterall, The University of Kentucky Wildcats
April 29th, 2007 at 11:12 am
I think Patterson will eventually be a great player, but there are tons of these guys that don’t produce quite up to expectations every year even with all the hype. Korvotney Barber is a good example. Good player and has the potential to be great in the future. Not an impact guy his first year. Damion James is also a fine player and will have a chance to be very good, but he didn’t quite have the hands that he was billed with. Is there a chance that Patterson is setting himself up for some pretty hefty pressure no matter where he goes? I think so. There are too many reports of his offensive game being limited for me to believe he will come in a run stuff like Amare Stoudemire. Just something to think about here….
April 29th, 2007 at 11:13 am
Let’s just have some patience, dang least we are on the right track now!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 11:32 am
I think Patterson will be a star NEXT SEASOn at the right school.
April 29th, 2007 at 11:43 am
Looks like Sanchez is coming for a visit to Kentucky next week
http://wildcatsthunder.blogspot.com/2007/04/uks-2007-recruiting-class- going-down.html
April 29th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
I am new to this site! What radio station in Louisville carries this show? What are the day’s and times of the show? Go Big Blue!
April 29th, 2007 at 12:38 pm
Wherever Patterson and Lucas ultimately go, they had better be the real deal once they get their or people are going to remember what prima donnas they acted like in their recruitment. I think both are vastly underestimating the resentment they are potentially causing for coaches, fans, and even their own future teammates.
April 29th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
^their=there brainfart.
April 29th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Good. I thought it was going to turn out to be something obvious to the average Joe.
9 out of 10 people are going to miss your point when you use CBC to refer to Billy Clyde Gillispie.
April 29th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
HANDS DOWN, the most arrogant kid I’ve seen in over 30 years of following college basketball. I hope we drop him like a bad habit and go with Hamga or Sanchez.
April 29th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
Depends on your audience Valupix. Here on this board I would think it is more likely 9 out of 10 do know what it means and probably more. Always helps to remind people from time to time though.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
88- Hard to disagree with you at this point. I don’t care either way at this point. Where ever he goes- he better put up 15/10 every single night to justify acting like such a primadonna.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
76) Come and get me bud. I aint hard to find. I got finals this week I have to dedicate my time to, but if you wanna come after me, E-mail me and you can go to a sparring session with me next Tuesday at my gym. Look forward to meeting you.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
media whore
April 29th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
I’ve only watch PP play in a couple of the games on ESPN and noticed that he got this pissed off look on his face a number of times… could be a positive thing as in working harder and moving to perfection at his game, OR, it may lead to him getting pissed off at his fellow team mates if he feels he isn’t gettting the ball enough. If he looks at himself as the “only” star, I’m not sure I want this kid. I’m not saying I know, because I definetly don’t.
April 29th, 2007 at 2:43 pm
everyone is wondering where CBC is gonna get all these scholarships since he seems to be offering everyone and their mother in the ‘08 class and we obviously dont have the scholarships for all those people…but this is an absolutely brilliant move…by doing this he is no longer subjecting us to Tubby-style recruiting…this is gonna make us never have to go through this PP and Lucas fiasco again…these recruits will know that if they wanna play for the Cats then they need to get their ass in gear and sign with us cause if they dont then someone is gonna take their spot…Clyde is just doin work right now and its fantastic
April 29th, 2007 at 2:58 pm
Looks like middle school finals have gotten a little tougher and more stressful since the 80’s. Like mom always said: “Hells bells, if you’re going to pull a stunt like that, go clean your room then take a nap.” Solid advice.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
The way he talked about Tubby’s leaving Kentucky, it really sounds like he was headed to UK before Tubby left.
April 29th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
I keep telling people that Tubby was going to land Patterson, no one wants to listen to it. More than likely he would have gotten Jai Lucas also, no doubt in my mind. Now I will get ripped on here for saying that, but the truth my UK brethren is the truth!!!
April 29th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
So what.
April 29th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
97- But what was his backup plan if he didnt get Patterson?
April 29th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
99) Patterson was the backup plan. Gary Johnson and Anthony Randolph were the guys he wanted most, but they comited to Texas and LSU.
April 29th, 2007 at 5:53 pm
#97:
Please, if it weren’t for Patrick and Jai jerking OTS along for nearly THREE years he may still be the coach at UK. Patrick is just trying to draw more attention, ONCE again to himself. I think he will EXPECT and LITERALLY DEMAND to be the MAN on the team, he’s not. Joe, Jodie, Ramel and others for that matter will carry the torch for us, not Patrick.
April 29th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
I think you’re only fooling yourself on that one KyCat.
There are 10 times more readers here than there are posters.
April 29th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
All the trash talk will not help us land Patterson. He said he reads board comments. I would…you would… they certainly do. I think fans have a fear that he will turn us down and are only protecting themselves. We can use him. He lived under the shadow of Mayo. I think he is just trying to get his now. But he is a good kid and I would be proud to see him in blue.
April 29th, 2007 at 8:05 pm
#96 and #97 that’s correct BUT UK will still get both.
They like UK best, pure and simple.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Like I’ve said previously, this kid is just dragging out his recruitment because he enjoys the attention. There’s absolutely no reason for him to wait at this point. If he was waiting to find out who UK’s new coach would be, that was decided weeks ago. He’s being very immature about it and is starting to come across as a primadonna.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
88) I agree 100 percent…I would much rather have Sanchez and/or Hamga at this point. To hell with this immature West Vagina kid.
April 29th, 2007 at 10:57 pm
Can we stop saying “CBC” now? That’s stupid as hell. The coach’s name and what he prefers is Billy Gillispie.
April 29th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
By the way…. http://www.myspace.com/ballerbeans
He hasn’t been on it for two weeks though.
April 30th, 2007 at 12:09 am
Like I told you on Thursday, it’s Lucas to UK on Tuesday … Patterson to follow. Just watch and enjoy.
April 30th, 2007 at 3:26 am
Kind of makes you wonder why he would choose a school (UF) that is second to football seeing how he likes all this attention. Wouldn’t he get that and MORE being a UK wildcat???
