Kentucky honored the legendary Taylor County today with the announcement that it will play the Campbellsville Tigers in a basketball exhibition next season. The Tigers have been attempting to get one of the two exhibition slots for a couple of years and this season finally pulled it off. They will travel to Rupp for the second exhibition game (the first being Calipari alma mater Clarion), and will join Georgetown and Northern Kentucky as non-Division I schools in state to play the Cats in exhibition season.
So I now say Coach…its time for Transylvania….the ghosts of Lee Rose, CM Newton and Don Lane say its time to stop ducking the Pioneers!

i would love to see UK and Transy get down and dirty in one of the exhibition games. just wish it would have happened when Don Lane was still there when they were the powerhouse of the NAIA
June 30th, 2009 at 5:09 pm

June 30th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
Didn’t UK play Pikeville College in an exhibition either Gillispe’s first year or Tubby’s last??
June 30th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
WuRd! Campbellsville is my alma mater!!
June 30th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
After Campbellsville faces John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, Darius Miller, DeMarcus Cousins, Patrick Patterson, Darnell Dodson, Jon Hood, Perry Stevenson, Ramon Harris, Daniel Orton, Josh Harrellson etc, they ought to be able to at least compete with their NAIA nemises.

If Kentucky steps on the throttle and doesn’t let up until very late in the game, here’s your final score:
Kentucky: 113
Campbellsville: 60

Here is what our new PG has been doing this summer here in Raleigh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3E2luHK954
June 30th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
11) you seriously think they’d score 60 against us??? I don’t know anything about them…only know about Mountain State U (hometown) and Westminster (PA-dad’s alma mater) in NAIA.
June 30th, 2009 at 5:32 pm
Does Campbellsville have anyone that could pose a matchup problem for Zah-vee-yay?
June 30th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
HeGetsIt, you’re in Raleigh right? I think I’m going down to the Chavis league game tonight to watch Wall put on a show.
June 30th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
New Rivals rankings for ‘11 are out. Gilchrist is #1 and Jerry Meyer just said he’d be very surprised if he didn’t end up in Lexington.
Teague is now #2.

Matt,
If and when UK plays Transy, what olor do you wear to the game?
MSU grad here, I’m UK all the way in those situations.

HEY MATT, ANY NEWS ON HENRY?
June 30th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
How about playing Murray State for once? Talk about ducking a team: more than 100 years of UK basketball and we still haven’t faced the Racers.
I keep secretly hoping the NCAA selection committee will pair us up one year to get it over with.

HeGetsIt: St. Augustine’s college, in a rough part of downtown. I was nervous at first, but my buddy has been going every year for the past 6 and hasn’t had any problems. I’ll try and get some pictures and see if any of the guys on here will post them tomorrow.
June 30th, 2009 at 6:44 pm
Evan Daniels from scout will be on WHAS with Drew Deener @ 7:20.
June 30th, 2009 at 6:50 pm
If the Vols ever played Transy, I’d pull for TU. Alma mater trumps the hometown alligence. Still Transy, as a D3 non-scholarship school, would be defeated by any decent D1 school. When we were in NAIA, I’d take our chances against some D1 teams.
Don Lane is still the best coach in Lexington.
June 30th, 2009 at 6:51 pm
Allegiance–they didn’t teach typing at Transy…..
June 30th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
If my two sons played for Ohio State against Kentucky, I’m rooting for Kentucky. Hell or high water, I don’t go against my Cats.
June 30th, 2009 at 6:57 pm
35. You’re badly mistaken if you think any of us on this message board caught your misspelling of allegiance.

Do any of you old farts remember a PF that played for Vandy named Bryan Milburn? He is now the assistant coach at Campbellsville University.
June 30th, 2009 at 10:34 pm
Question: As a proud Transylvania Pioneer 2 time basketball team Captain, member of the 1,000 point club, player for the honorable Coach Don Lane, and former teammate of Coach Brian Lane…how in the hell did Campbellsville ever beat out Transy for a shot to get paid to compete(at least for the firt 4 minutes) against UK? Bravo Sierra!
I concur with 4.
June 30th, 2009 at 10:39 pm
12 & 15, I live in Oxford, NC. When and where are the next games Wall will play in?
