Seriously, what IS that buzzing noise???
June 28th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
There is a swarm of angry bees circling the stadium.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
It is all mosquitos, DA, cause the foreign countries are to poor to buy bug spray
June 28th, 2009 at 2:41 pm
2-0!
June 28th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Is that one dude’s name kaka? Oh yeah, imagine the excitement in that city with the FIFA finals and a formula one race right next door. USA!
June 28th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
It’s like they’re playing on an interstate and every single semi truck is constantly honking their horns while one trillion bees are traveling with them.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Air horns. Tim Howard is owning the goal. Across this line…you do not!!!!!!!!!
June 28th, 2009 at 2:49 pm
if there ever were a time for a sunday afternoon live blog, this would have been it.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
Wow, so much for thinking you could DVR this game, avoid ESPN.com, and watch it spoiler free when you get home.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
It is bothersome that this would be the biggest upset we have seen since 1980 if the US holds on, and 90 percent don’t know or don’t give a crap.
This is the type of game that gets players murdered in Brazil.
Go Yanks!
June 28th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
this is what U.S. soccer needed last world cup…now i hope they are winning back all of those potential fans. this is too awesome!
June 28th, 2009 at 2:54 pm
Dude, if Lonas Sieber was playing for the US, we’d kick even more ass.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Alex Legion’s Mom forsaw a sea of blue horns like these in Commonwealth and Rupp.
June 28th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
This game needs that Terry Nate office linebacker dude.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Kaka is caca
June 28th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Its terry tate. And thats hillarious
June 28th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
matt jones tweeting about soccer=greatness.

In case you want to know about the buzzing sound. USA! USA!
June 28th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
Call this “MIRACLE ON GRASS”
Spain-#1 team in the world
Brasil-#5 team in the world
USA-#14 team in the world
USA- Beating Spain, and Brasil–PRICELESS
June 28th, 2009 at 3:08 pm
17- It was BTI…
11- Still don’t really care, is this the World Cup?
June 28th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Miracle on Grass = the 1950 World Cup win over England.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
USA!!!USA!!!USA!!!
Now, let’s close it out!!
June 28th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
17- Sorry misread, you said tweet, I’m still more impressed with BTI actually taking the time to write something positivish about soccer.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
Damn, does the USA have an offense?
June 28th, 2009 at 3:29 pm
20. this is the confederations cup…world cup starts next june!
June 28th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
#7 for Brazil = Tom Hanks
June 28th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
24) Not against Brazil. Our best offense is in transition.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
game… soccer is irrelevant again.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
JINX
June 28th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
They’re just too strong
June 28th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
Anderson Varejao is still a bitch.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
US soccer = UK football
June 28th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
“They are who we thought they were!”
June 28th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
Here is the halftime speech by Brazil’s coach:
“Score goals”
June 28th, 2009 at 4:05 pm
#32–You are correct. Their own worse enemy. I don’t watch a lot of soccer and never played BUT, how hard is to see a big yellow shirt within 3 feet of your teammate as you try to pass it 15 yards to him. How many times did we pass the ball to their player when we were driving?
June 28th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
32. Not really, otherwise how were we be able to compete with the world, and beat the number one team in the world
June 28th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
32. Not really, otherwise how were we be able to compete with the world, and beat the number one team in the world
June 28th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
I don’t mean to poop on the parade but I still can’t force myself to flip it over there. Soccer means nothing to me. I’d rather watch a state of the union speech by Obama or the PGA or a tennis match. LOL.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:09 pm
BTI is quite the sad person. He dislikes soccer so much that he is forced to cheer against his own country.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
38- I gave in and watched the gamecast on espn.com I still count that as a moral defeat.
37- UK beat LSU a couple years ago…
Can someone that watches soccer explain the reasoning behind the timing rules?
June 28th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
BTI- Best post edit ever.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:15 pm
I take back my previous statement about matt tweeting about soccer. “dave matthews” is perhaps the best player on our team. he was instrumental in so many big plays. to say he shouldn’t be on the field is completely ignorant.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
UKSoCal–I am like you when it comes to knowing about soccer but I can tell you that time is kept on the field so the final whistle is a guess as to when it is over.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
bti you are a piss poor american, i will never again read one of your lousy posts…show a little support for the team from your country.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
It’s hilarious because these other countries live and breathe soccer. In the US, nobody cares about soccer except kids from poor schools and immigrants. The US beating Major World Cup Soccer teams is like Mexico beating the United States in basketball.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
The loud buzzing sound are traditional S. African horns that are at all their games…if you noticed, there are also tribal dancers in the stands tha tnever stop dancing while the game is going on. Other countries and their teams have logged numerous protests with the Federation concerning the s. Africans use of the horns, but been shot down. Guess that’s their version of cow bells!
June 28th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
Meant to mention…the buzzing is so annoying I had to “mute” and lose the commentary…oh, well.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:19 pm
44) Yeah, I love it when our national team chokes up a chance for their greatest win ever. Sorry. My Bad. Good job losing guys.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
44) And by the way, I create this post as a way to SUPPORT the team when they were winning. It’s only fair to crticize when they blow it.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
BTI=douche =) I am not being mean if I put a smiley face behind it.
45) kidding me right. more kids play soccer than baseball and usually the best highschool teams are from more affluent areas, st.x’s, lex. cath., etc…
June 28th, 2009 at 4:24 pm
BTI i do take that back you are a complete douche, you reek of vagina and vinegar.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:25 pm
It’s hard to watch because it’s soccer.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:27 pm
y’know thats kinda bs BTI, we all know brazil is the superior team, we played pretty damn well and at one point were up 2-0 thats called playing well and losing to the better team, it happens man. would you say that about kentucky if say kentucky leads 14-0 at half time against florida but ends up losing 21-14? we DIDNT choke, they played REALLY well and just got out-played in the end by THE power country in soccer.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
53) Yeah, we are gonna disagree on this. And I remember Kentucky beating Florida 21-3 several years back in the 4th quarter and losing that game. And that was a choke too. In soccer, blowing a 2-0 lead is a choke.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:34 pm
Dude, I just saw Bomani Jones on a Micheal Jackson special
June 28th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
bti, but usa wasnt leading brazil 2-0 with 10 minutes left. brazil had scored a goal almost immediately in the second half. and half way through, so its like if kentucky and florida were tied going into the 4 quarter, NOT uk up 21-3 so its not really fair to use that example.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:37 pm
and i think we all agree if were tied with florida in the 4 quarter no matter the outcome were gonna go home not feeling all that bad when we lose
June 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
like you said, that was the 4th quarter. 2-0 is simply 2-0 with that much time left. They were outplayed and worn down, but it’s a pretty far stretch to say it’s a choke.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
IN addition brazil has freakin kaka, hes top 5 player in the world. dempsey and donovan are great players but theyre not even to 25 guys world wide, and altidor is gonna be great but hes still just 19. thats what the US was up against. give them some credit dude.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
BTI - Simply put, you’re a dick. Just keep your damn mouth shut about stuff you know little to nothing about. As much as you hate to admit it, you’re just gonna have to live with soccer being the world’s game whether you like it or not.
June 28th, 2009 at 4:58 pm
lol i wouldnt go as far as to call him a dick, lets just go with….misinformed
June 28th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
I’m completely behind BTI on this one, they choked, they were completely dominating the first half then fell flat, at least that’s what the live comment thing on ESPN.com said, so I’ll take.
June 28th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
they didnt fall flat though, brazil was just, brazil.
June 28th, 2009 at 5:17 pm
60) Easy there tiger. Take your blood pressure medicine and a deep breath. It’s your bedtime in 2 hours anyway.
June 28th, 2009 at 5:37 pm
Choke? Really? I don’t recall the same being said when Kenny Perry lost the Masters. Each team played a great half…Brazil’s was better.
June 28th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
they did lose. but BTI’s Hilltoppers losing to Gonzaga in the tourney earlier in the year was a bigger choke job
June 28th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
bti is an unintelligent redneck that has trouble putting words together to form sentences. I think he should be placed back in the who wants to be a blogger contest. I’ll give 20-1 odds on him winning.
June 28th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
All of you do realize the post was originally about how well the US was playing and it was only after his heart was ripped out by them failing that poor BTI was forced to put up this edit?
June 28th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
I’m sure there are many like me who don’t really like or watch soccer at all unless the U.S. is involved in a high profile international match(today, World Cup, etc). Then we become U.S. soccer fans because we enjoy rooting for OUR country.
June 28th, 2009 at 7:13 pm
68) Thanks for defending me, but the ship has already sailed on this. They are gonna hate no matter what is said. But at least you know the truth
June 28th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
@68 - i was already on an emotional low as it was. thanks for clarifying. my apologies to BTI
June 28th, 2009 at 7:48 pm
# 45 is clueless…..
You said no one cares about soccer in America, but poor kids and immigrants. Last time I checked the best soccer is played in the upper class suburbs of our nations big cities. You are one of the ones that give kentucky a bad rep with a name like fyrebird 86. That’s probably the car you still drive redneck.
June 28th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
That buzzing was terrible!
June 28th, 2009 at 8:35 pm
68) 70) Bingo.
June 28th, 2009 at 11:14 pm
anybody who calls that a choke is ignorant and really doesnt know what there talking about.
June 29th, 2009 at 12:16 am
CHOKE Bryan??? You are an idiot and need to know what the hell’s going on before you say stupid shit like that. The U.S. just beat Spain and just about beat Brazil and all you can say is choke. Give a little bit of respect to a group of guys that just sent notice to the world that the Americans can play soccer too. I’m tired of amateur writers on this website not giving them any respect. Bryan, ur the last person that needs to be taking shots at people if that is ur pic with the santa hat below.
June 29th, 2009 at 8:47 am
Two things kyballer: By definition bloggers would not be professional writers, still they do a pretty good job. “Professional” sportswriters are also pretty much saying the same thing, the USA played hard, but Brazil just had more talent. So you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Secondly: I’m a fan of USA soccer and I have no real love for the Brazilians, but blowing a 2-0 lead is a choke job, don’t care who you are. It only showcases the fact that the Brazilians weren’t playing all that hard in the first half. USA soccer is getting better, but the plane hasn’t landed, it was definitely not the second best team in the Confederations Cup, but they played hard.
June 29th, 2009 at 8:54 am
PS. Brazil out-shot the US 31-9 in the second half.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:13 am
BTI, nothing but class. Way to support your country. By far the most ignorant poster on here.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:21 am
I don’t care if it originally was supposed to show support, you show support whether win or lose.
June 29th, 2009 at 10:21 am
Played soccer my whole life, at WKU and in Europe….Brazil is the benchmark
for soccer always. I realized Spain is ranked #1…but Brazil is elite!
That being said, what happened to USA was a shame and poor coaching, give me a 2 goal spot
and you should always always win…..not saying they choked, but they
CAN NOT POSSIBLEY LOSE THAT GAME TO ANYONE….and they found a way to hand it to Brazil!!!
Creidit to the coach for getting them in the final….but to lose with a 2 game lead with 45 minutes….unthinkable!!!
June 29th, 2009 at 10:41 am
78.byron- you are an idiot. spain got way more shot then usa did so whats your point. bryan the intern is just another shitty writer that doesnt care about soccer, this game means nothing to him so why would he watch what he says. and usa didnt choke, brazil is far superior and was able to take the game back from them. probably because they have been in these situations thousands of time more then we have. call it unexperince, or out mtached but not choke. BTI is a fagg, so is byron, probly together
June 29th, 2009 at 11:41 am
Catsfan, at least I can spell and write past a middle school level. You should probably run a spell and grammar check on your posts before you call someone a shitty writer.
By your argument you’re saying the USA was far outclassed and shouldn’t have been playing Brazil, so it’s not a choke they’re just bad? I guess that’s showing support.
In the final game of a major international tourney with a 2-0 lead, all you have to do is defend, and somehow your defense allows 3 goals and 31 to 9 shots in the second half. That’s poor coaching, strategy, conditioning…take your pick, calling it a choke is fair. Maybe you should have payed more attention when you played in your U-12 LYSA League.
June 29th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
your own biggest fan. why would you say that i said were outclassed i never said that. and my writing skills arent that great but atleast i can give an original oppinion. rather then saying soccers a kids sport, we choked. and what is u-12 lysa i bet you know more about that. yeah, so go listen to dave mathews or something. we were giving up shots all tournament it was a matter of time before we started giving up goals fluently, we had a lot of luck getting there. so to call it a choke is just as naive as usa is with a 2 goal lead.
