The Weekend Begins…..will next week bring this?

by @ 10:13 pm. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

jaiandpat.bmp

Time for Final 4 Weekend, and two games that Kentucky fans have absolutely no interest in at this point. What they do care about is whether the above picture is foreshadowing of the future. A poster at WildcatManiacs.com (an underrated site) photoshopped this picture and I thought it was some good positivity to get you into the weekend. Stay here all weekend for any news as it may break…..

  1. Jeff Dahmler Says:

I am having the 3 of them over
    for dinner tonight.

  2. kwhdmd Says:

A guy can dream, can’t he!?

  3. catswin Says:

You need to remove the pic. It is illegal to post pictures of recruits in KY uniforms.

  4. Mark Slavoit Says:

According to ESPNEWS Report: Donovan to be offered UK job…………….Must be a slow night at the network.

  5. Matt Jones Says:

Is that in the US Code or the Kentucky Code?

  6. andrew hamlett Says:

That is a great picture. Whoever did it did a fantastic job. I tried making a youtube video kinda like this with jai and pat and billy with the song we belong by pat benator but it just didn’t work out. I couldn’t get the music to play. Just for the comedy.

  7. Harry Ballsonya Says:

they forget calathes, he goes where billy goes supposidly

  8. ChillPill Says:

Catswin, if that was put up by someone associated with the University, yes, it would violate NCAA rules. A private citizen or someone not associated with the University can do any damn thing they please. The relationship is the discriminator.
Matt is showing his barrister ways as to the question as to which code is violated? Nope, not a CFR or a KRS involved here. Freedom of speech.

  9. R. Smith Says:

    ahh…good times

at least for 59 posts anyways

  16. Mason Says:

You need to remove the pic. It is illegal to post pictures of recruits in KY uniforms.

  17. goonies24 Says:

that is an awesome sight….howd u do that…

  18. Han Says:

Mason, catswin already said that, Matt already asked if it’s US Code or KY code, and Chillpill already pointed out it’s not illegal/a violation because Matt is not an employee of UK.

There were only 15 comments before yours. Not hard to read them.

  19. Shagari Says:

    Sportscenter @ 11 PM. Billy
says he’s at Florida as long
    as they want him.

    Wanting him could mean they
    match or surpass Kentucky’s
    offer.

    Vitale screams he should stay
    put. Bilas gives reasons to
    go.

  20. Curtis Says:

Define Irony- I was just watching college game night and Steve Lavin said that there is no way Billy D will go to UK. His reason, because Florida would “open up Fort Knox” to get him to stay. So I ask, where is Fort Knox? Thats right it is in Kentucky.

  21. JKW1974 Says:

Baseball is a beautiful game, I am glad UK has found someone to really push the game to the forefront.

Baseball has to appreciated as to the method of how the game unfolds slowly with no clock. And, I think it is the only game where the defense controls the ball…Wish I lived closer, I would be at every game…..Go CAT’S!!!!!

  22. JKW1974 Says:

I was listening to ESPN Radio today. They said that Billy would not leave Florida because he has “hung his shingle” at the O-Dome.

My first thought was that they are correct about that, but at the end of the day it is still, like (you know)….the O-Dome. And they can’t even sell it out or even sell the tickets they get for the NCAA Regional……THAT is what would drive him to Lexington….

  23. Mattcat Says:

There’s something very odd in the article linked above by Jamie.

Here are some quotes from the article, I’m not sure what to make of the discrepancy.

“Former Kentucky basketball star Richie Farmer says he spoke with Billy Donovan”

“Farmer said he called his former assistant coach, and the conversation was mostly about the Final Four.”

“He was certainly aware of what was going on,” Farmer said Friday. “I think that he certainly is open to looking at the opportunity after the tournament.”

    And then Donovan adds this.

“I don’t even have my phone,” Donovan said. “I don’t talk to anybody. The minute I get on the road, I give my phone to my secretary. I’ve talked to nobody.

  24. barry Says:

    Billy D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. UKBALLA Says:

Mattcat, your reading way to far into that statement. First there is no doubt in my mind that Farmer has talked to Billy and this did come up. He definitly wouldnt lie about it. And for what Billy has said, hey its called being “savy” with the media. Kind of answering a question with an answer totally irrelevant. He didnt say he hasnt spoken with Farmer, all he has said is he hasnt spoken to anyone “with” the University which farmer is not. And that he doesnt have his phone on him while he is ON THE ROAD.It doesnt mean he has never got a call from Farmer, That means while hes in Florida he probably talked to Farmer before he left for atlanta. It a nice PR trick to diverting the question, richie isnt lying about talking to him and Billy isnt lying when he said he dont carry his phone on him while he’s on the road.

  26. john Says:

you should not be posting that picture before Billy the Kid accepts.

Nonetheless, appreciate all the work you put into keeping cats fans updated on events on daily basis. Here’s to hoping he accepts.

  27. barry Says:

    Quit stressing about the picture!!!

  28. Brad King Says:

#19, that was first reported earlier today. That is the most positive thing about Florida that he has said thus far, but it still comes short of anything definitive, as usual.

Just from mere speculation, I’m beginning to think Gillispie is the clear 2nd choice for Kentucky. The fact that he has not signed the extension and that A&M officials have said he is interested implies that UK or it’s representatives have indefinitely made contact of some kind. Texas on the other hand has made no attempt at extending Barnes salary and there is little news coming from Austin. Texas officials seem they are not worried…

It’s becoming a cliche lately, but where there is smoke, there is fire.

  29. Mattcat Says:

Balla, you’re reading too much into what I posted. Obviously, Farmer is not lying, and I’m not suggesting that he is. The reason I stated that I wasn’t sure what to make of it, well, obviously Donovan is talking to people. People from his UK past. Very interesting, but I’m not sure how significant.

  30. Steven Leffler Says:

Nice #20, I appreciated it even though nobody else may have. Gotta love irony.

  31. brink Says:

28 Maybe (hopefully) UK isnt really interested in Barns I hope I hope I hope. There is another part of Texas that they can keep an eye on though!!!!

  32. A UK Fan says... Says:

Shouldn’t we be pitching the great things that happended during the years that Mr. Donovan was here,.. instead of being convinced that he will come for the money, or just the conceitedness that we feel like we deserve him.

  33. A UK Fan says... Says:

the mob found a new target…….

watch out Dickie V. the Giant Double D’s are coming after you. Just like Tubby they will make you go from one 7 figure job to another.

  34. A UK Fan says... Says:

    no more…..

    …unless you pay me!

  35. Smart guy Says:

  36. bored guy Says:

  37. Confused guy Says:

  41. Dr. Bob Says:

Can’t build your own program? Need to take your BIG BROTHER’S?

  42. Commen Sense Says:

    YOUR ON THE WRONG TEAMS’ SITE, when you say;

“Can’t build your own program? Need to take your BIG BROTHER’S?”

  43. dgillespie Says:

Read the spectre post on WilcatsManiacs.com.
One of the best posts and replies to the national media that I have ever heard.
Maybe us delusional fans are just like fans at the other monster basketball schools.
Why can’t the media get that?

  44. catswin Says:

The pic is illegal, just ask Sandy Bell. It puts our recruitment of these two kids at risk and is a violation.

  45. Anonymous Says:

Catswin, read post 8. If those who run this site do not have a relationship with the University, there is no NCAA violation. Sandy Bell may object for the sake of appearance, but she and the rest of the Athletics Assn do not have any purview over what a member of the public does. This is a member of the public exercising free speech–not NCAA turf. If it is a violation as you state, who is the offender? Matt Jones? I am sure Matt is not fearful of Miles Brand coming knocking on his door.

  46. The Inside Scoop Says:

This just in from ESPN…Dick Vitale, Seth Davis and Billy Packer may be ACC homers.
And…Bobby Petrino may be staying in Atlanta.

  47. Papel_Hygenico Says:

Billy D is in a similar situation as Napoleon. Billy D rules France, but it’s only France. Moving to UK would be like ruling all of Europe, but he has to risk having his own personal Waterloo.

So it all comes down to whether he has enough competitive drive to want to be the best of the best, and not just the best of Florida.

  48. no discrepancy Says:

23 Billy D said he didn’t take his phone with him on the road. The gators left Thursday I’m sure he took a few calls of congrats Mon-Wed.

  49. Tom Crean Says:

    Remember me?

  52. Dr. Bob Says:

The question remains: You need to buy your Big Bro’s program? Can’t build and retain your own?

You will not get BD. You will lose 20 games next season. And UF will give you THREE of those losses.

  53. lexslamman Says:

    52.

Its really starting to look that way, isn’t it?

  54. Yuch!!! Says:

Pathetic Openly coveting thy neighbors coach and committed players - during the final 4? Ought to be a commandmant against that one.

  55. luke spears Says:

dick vitale was just on college gameday shooting bullets at the kentucky job in regaurds to BD leaving. he was about to have a stroke he was yelling so loud. i hope im not the only one here that HATES this man, seriously, hes the most annoying man on the planet.

  56. genuine realist Says:

Yawn. Poor Dr. Bob. No blogs by UF fans? Sez it all.

  57. Matt S Says:

What are everyones’ thoughts about the way Kentucky looks if Donovan rejects the job? Also, Tubby is already starting to surround himself with Sub-par basketball minds (Saul Smith) like he did at UK.

  58. catswin Says:

Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it. Its about NCAA regulations and potential eligibility issues. They can post what they want but it is still a violation for KY and presents a need for an investigation. Sad but true. It won’t hurt anybody that post it but the NCAA can and possible would rule that this represented an illegal recruiting advantage and rule that neither player could play for KY. I know this from experience and Sandy Bell would tell you the same thing but since neither is coming to Ky anyway I guess it doesn’t matter.

  59. losinluv4tubby Says:

That’s a nice picture and it’s good to dream. But let’s keep it real. Tubby left this program in shambles and if we don’t get Donovan, we’re in trouble. He drove the bus to the edge of the cliff and jumped off a yard from the plummet to save himself.

  60. Tom Seaver Says:

Dr. Bob needs to go to the proctologist and get his UK envy removed from his butt. Otherwise, it might start to fester and he will become a run-of-the-mill fans that Florida will have once Donovan leaves for UK or the pros or somebody, wailing and sniping at the all time winningest program in college basketball. We have weathered down times in the past. We don’t know how Florida will handle being one of the top programs in the country because they have not been here before. Go visit the doctor, Bob.

  61. Anonymous Says:

    58 is lame.

  62. Boggie Says:

I like Dick - but not Vitale.

  63. Amos Bullocks Says:

Y’all make fun of West Virgina (sic) but Scout.com in its Kentucky Sports Report is showcasing — The Tub and ‘The End of an Era’. Shouldn’t that read The End of an Error? #59 is right he left the program in shambles. He took big money and ran. He knew how bare the cupboard was. A real class act. Good thing Pitino didn’t so that to him or his ‘Error’ would have lasted four years.
