The people over at Scout.com released their top 75 players for the class of 2010 this afternoon and, not surprisingly, UK found themselves on the lists of several of the top players. Here is the list (and videos) of the players considering Kentucky. Five-star players noted with asterisks.

8. Kyrie Irving (PG)*
9. Dominique Ferguson (PF)*
10. Will Barton (SG)*
12. CJ Leslie (PF)*
13. Adreine Payne (C)*
23. Phil Pressey (PG)*
24. Joe Jackson (PG)*
30. Jelan Kendrick (SF)
60. Casey Prather (SF)

Wow good list. Saw three play. UK needs at least that many.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
It is good to finally see UK on the list of big name recruits again. This is very encouraging.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Encouraging Indeed. The Tide is certainly turning in our favor.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
5 out of top 10 possibly to UK. Wow what a nice change
April 30th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Didn’t notice any names on there from Ky. Did I miss one?
April 30th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Not to mention Coach Cal mentioning all of those Juniors that contacted him about getting recruited by UK. Finally, recruits are calling us and we aren’t having to beg for scraps. (not all players were scraps…but a lot were)
April 30th, 2009 at 2:15 pm
6 - No names from Ky. The days of offereing crappy KY boys a scholly just to have KY boys on the team are gone, and good riddance.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
I thought that the 2 kids from Holmes would be on the list.

Can’t Believe his Twitter is already over 13,500…that’s just insane.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
To be honest if we get Barnes, Knight and Ferguson we will be in great shape with Miller, Hood, Dodson, Pilgrim, Orton, and possibly Bledson.
Now that is a solid team for 2010.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:26 pm
Where is Dakotah?
April 30th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
i know this is an old radio report from Mike & Mike, but it is still a good listen:

^ not to mention there’s a picture of PPatt w/ 2 other guys in the main picture

Here is how I break down that list from what I been hearing:
Very Optimistic:
Ferguson
Burton
Leslie
Optimistic:
Irving
Jackson
Too far away to tell right now:
Knight
Barnes
I do think we are about as good of shape as one can be right now with them
but this is going to drag out for awhile
Can’t get a good handle on right now but good be either way good or bad:
Payne
Not listed on Bisner’s list but names we should remember:
Very optimistic:
Roscoe Smith
Fab Melo
Optimistic
Doron Lamb
Josh Shelby
Other names to keep an eye and ear out for:
Don’t count out Elijah Pittman or Ricardo Johnson just yet. If Cal gets
enough early stud committments then he might fill out some “foundation” spots
with either one of them. Pittman for sure if his grades weren’t in question
Jared Sullinger is like Shelby, both committed but wouldn’t surprise me if
they opened it back up.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:31 pm
This is fantastic. When is the last time we’ve had this many elite players looking at us?
April 30th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Sullinger is NOT backing out of OSU. Guaranteed.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:33 pm
For once we have legit options, not just giving away schollies to be early, or giving them away to fill roster spots.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
We will get 3 out of the top 25 players next year along with what we will have back and now we’re rolling
April 30th, 2009 at 2:37 pm
16/18. I’ve seen Sullinger play in person at the Ohio High School State Final game and I will say I would NOT like to see him in a UK uniform. He is a good player but not the 3rd best player in the nation. He constantly trash talks his opponents throughout the entire game and flicked off the student section of the opposing school during the game. I’m glad he is staying in state and going to OSU rather than to Kentucky

#20 Just 3? LOL. I am guessing 4 by the end of the summer and 5 when it
is all said and done.
I predict by the end of the summer we will already have
Ferguson
Burton
Smith
Leslie
then we get either Knight, Jackson, Irving, or Pressey, maybe even get two
of out of that group.

April 30th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
I wouldn’t look at the Shelby committment to UT as a very solid committment
right now
April 30th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
7} Those are Jr’s…
April 30th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
Do you think John Calipari could sell Kentucky to recruits better than Billy Mays could sell Oxy-Clean on his infomercials?
April 30th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
Coach Cals hollywood pics are on the UK athletics website. For some reason I can’t post the link.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Go to Coach Cal’s twitter page for the hollywood link
April 30th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Florida will battle with us for certain players but so will a bunch of
elite schools for those same certain players.
Pearl is going to get some elite players but I don’t think he will
win an battles against UK in the 2010 class.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Sweet Tweet from Cal in LA…
Arrived in LA. Met w/ Nash. What a great guy. Went over some plays w/ him. Gave me some ideas on pick n roll that I’ll use w/ our bigs & PG. He also has pics posted!
April 30th, 2009 at 2:48 pm
Bozich on Fab Melo (6 days ago), UK not even listed. I hadn’t heard the Cats being in the running, I had read Lvl and UConn.
1. The kid — nicknamed Fab Melo — is an athletic freak, who can run, jump and move quickly. Unsure about his basketball skills, but the athletic tools are all there.
2. But this coach said he thought Richard Pitino’s move from Louisville to Florida would hurt the Cards and help the Gators in the recruitment of Fab Melo.
He said that the word he had gotten was that Louisville and Connecticut were the leaders — until Richard Pitino left. Now it’s UConn and Florida.

Oh no - terrible news —- we already know that madonna is single — now sean penn has filed for divorce — please oh please don’t let them be a couple again. - Now, back to basketball.
April 30th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
5 out of the top 25 players, that would be freaking awesome… We would definitely be rolling then…
April 30th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Haven’t we offered Doron Lamb?
April 30th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Great to hear Coach. Just don’t let Nash teach you about pick-n-roll defense. I live in AZ and it is non-existant.
April 30th, 2009 at 3:47 pm
I checked out the updated scout list.
The best name on the list - Fab Melo. Now that’s a cool name.
April 30th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
Two hours later and still no one has taken the time to watch all the videos of the prospects? That’s a little weak.
April 30th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
I really like Leslie maybe even better than Ferguson. I really think both could be beasts in this offense.
April 30th, 2009 at 4:51 pm
Ferguson would be huge if we can get him back his style of play is perfect for Cal
he needs Ferguson.
April 30th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
Kentucky Ink is reporting that after speaking with Barton and his coach today, that Barton may be on the verge of committing.
