Interesting game last night from Louisville as the Cats were able to pull out a win, barely, over the Iona Gaels. One has to give Iona and Coach Jeff Ruland a lot of credit as they hung with Kentucky, never letting the lead get out of hand and giving them the chance to make a run at the end. For a game that was fairly dreary throughout, the end of the game left some excitement on the table, as both teams made great plays. For Kentucky, the “Good Patrick, Bad Patrick” dichotomy was once again seen, as Sparks hit a crucial three pointer with a minute left to play, but also made two careless turnovers in the last thirty seconds to give the Gaels life.
A shout out also goes to my man Woo, who showed nerves of steel in hitting a jumper from the side late in the game which gave Kentucky a seven point lead and showcased some of the big man’s skill. Another solid game for the Polish sensation, and we wish him the best with his long trip to Poland (which I believe he is now on). All in all, a good win for Kentucky following the UL defeat and enough of a decent performance that no one’s Christmas is ruined.
