Good morning, ladies and gents and welcome to yet another “most important game of the season” Saturday. Today, our beloved Cats will do their best to protect the sacred home court of Rupp Arena against LSU and Trent Johnson’s super deep voice. Here are a couple of stories to get you geared up for this afternoon’s festivities:
- John Clay says in his column that LSU is Gillispie’s biggest test yet as coach of the Cats.
- Jerry Tipton writes that the “Tigers are a nightmare matchup for Cats” and says UK is looking to pound it inside today.
- Rick Bozich gives you a primer for this afternoon’s game.
- Brett Dawson writes that UK is going to dish out a heavy dose of Patrick Patterson, who finally looks to be at 100%.
- LSU has won nine straight games this season, but has lost their last 11 at Rupp Arena. Something has to give today.
- LSU coach Trent Johnson is turning to Garrett Temple to try to contain Jodie Meeks. A Defensive All-American from a year ago, Temple has had some success in shutting down big-time players in SEC play.
- The Shreveport Times says LSU is trying to make history today. Now, their “history” is that they’ve never clinched the SEC title by winning at Rupp, which seems to me like a Uecker “he’s 5-0 with a 1.42 ERA in games played on Tuesday, in a dome, west of Arkansas, when the opponent’s batting coach is named ‘Ted’” stat, but I guess history is history.
- Well, Coach Kige got ‘em all fired up last Saturday in “the most important game of the season” part one and the Cats knocked off a first place (at the time) Tennessee team. Hopefully, the Rupp of Russellville can do the same this week. Here’s what he wants to see today.
Go Cats.

February 28th, 2009 at 10:19 am
Now we know where BCG gets his plays!!!
February 28th, 2009 at 10:37 am
After getting raped Weds.Night, this is a chance for Clyde to prove that he can coach, and, or adjust as the case may be. If we run the same defense as we did Weds, it won’t be pretty.
February 28th, 2009 at 10:42 am
LSU 80
CATS 62
LSU is a good team and very quick and smart. i doubt we’ll show up ready to play; as if that’s anything new.
February 28th, 2009 at 10:44 am

February 28th, 2009 at 10:49 am

Cards play Sunday.
February 28th, 2009 at 10:51 am
15) Thanks! I just hate the Cards.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:03 am
14) i’m not a card fan moron. i just don’t wear the blue glasses like you do. in other words, i see reality and don’t live in fantasy land like you most likely do…wake up.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:11 am
LSU 78

February 28th, 2009 at 11:17 am
#17 Good to see a fan who
sees things like they really
are not like bitch #19.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:19 am
I love UK but Vegas giving 4.5 points is STUPID! I hope I am DEADWRONG but LSU potentially can whip our A$$’s if we come out flat. They can knock us out in the first 5 minutes like USC did.
Hopefully Billy G is having Coach Kige draw him up some plays!
February 28th, 2009 at 11:23 am
This all access is going to be gold…just makes the USC game sting all over again.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:25 am
Gillispie to Harrellson” You honestly don’t know who to pass the ball to?” great.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:31 am
that was so painful to watch…
February 28th, 2009 at 11:31 am
now you know espn has footage of the aj stewart blow up. cmon espn, show us the real footage. can someone from youtube make an offer for the stuff that was not shown?
February 28th, 2009 at 11:34 am
Anybody else tv saying that CBS is showing the Notre Dame vs. UCONN?
February 28th, 2009 at 11:35 am
uh yeah, at 1:00, uk-lsu is 3:00
February 28th, 2009 at 11:41 am
19, 20 ) idiots. i know you have your thick blue goggles on so i hope you are ready i guess.
geez. so many people like you can’t simply see the facts…you are sheep that follow the herd!
have a good time living in la la land. espn all access was quite humorous as we knew it would be….repeat of the ass whippin we took…lovely.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:54 am
By far the best Kige video yet!!! That was classic.
February 28th, 2009 at 11:59 am
If Meeks gets 40 we win. Simple as that and he’s due!
February 28th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
I think the team might respond well after the ass beating they took.
They should be focused now. Go CATS
February 28th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
LSU is a good team, but they aren’t nearly as quick as SC and I am not sure their intelligence has anything to do on how well we will be prepared for the game. Either way this game is going to be close and will probably be decided on the last possession.
February 28th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
#31, I dont know, cause he never goes off at home, has he even gotten more then 30 at home? Other then VMI.
February 28th, 2009 at 12:26 pm
Good play, Kige.
February 28th, 2009 at 12:28 pm
Can someone here on KSR post the footage here once it becomes available online? I missed it when it aired. That would be super!
February 28th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
I don’t think Temple has to shut down Meeks, I think some of his own players are doing that pretty well all by them selves, by not setting screens, not passing the ball at the right moment, and sometimes not even letting him touch the ball.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Amazing Kige Video! Loved it, although I always feel a little bit uneasy watching them.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:08 pm
LSU is the best team in the SEC and South Carolina is second. I t doesn’t look good today. But I do think AJ will get his career highin minutes played.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
So we’ve got that going for us.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:21 pm
I am as real as real can be. So with that in mind, my prediction is that I’ll be rooting for the Cats to win as always.
PS, please, everyone tune into 630 WLAP’s online stream after the postgame show with Tom and BCG. Its a beautiful thing as Cutler would say.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
9.. S Carolina was favored Wed, albeit by only 1 pt, but favored none the less.
As bad of a play Kige drew up, at least it would be the 1st play we would run all season specifically for Meeks. I say we try it.
February 28th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
Oh, KIGE! You just inadverantly let Bruce Pearl’s Meekswilizer defense out of the bag!!!
February 28th, 2009 at 1:37 pm
I predict Galloway won’t play today because he wasn’t “tough enough” against South Carolina.
February 28th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
I bet Jodie scores more points than Porter’s minutes played
February 28th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
I very happy Gillispie is our coach and not Kige.
Good effort though Kige.
February 28th, 2009 at 2:10 pm
Was Gillispie once an assistant to Kige?
