Well that game was on BCG, don’t think he did a good job prepping his players, didn’t make the adjustments. Now I’m not one of those that have bad mouthed BCG before, and still think he’s a good coach, but I don’t think did well today. Now if this keeps up, we need to hold our collective breath for the rest of the season, we can’t really have more than 2 more regular season losses, absolute maximum!

86. The technical sparked a UK run. That didn’t lose the game for us. Turnovers, not blocking out (USC 10th in rebounding), second chance points, and bad clutch play lost the game for UK.

For all of you bashing Billy, shut the hell up. Cuz when we was on that winning streak you were kissin his ass. Billy didnt make Stevenson, Liggins, Porter, etc throw passes to no where and lose the ball when simply trying to dribble up the floor. Turnovers and 2nd chance points lost us this game. Even with Downey and Douglas hittin all those shots, they still wouldnt have won if it werent for those two stats. The upside to the game, Miller played really well.

Not being able to block out this team killed us. Stop and think what this team would be like without all the turnovers. Cut the turnovers in half today and you win by 10 points.

Once again, UK loses to a team with smaller, quicker and better guards. They are able to penetrate the lane and score, dish or make the defense collapse so that a missed shot turns into a weak side offensive rebound. Opposing teams’ guards are able to creat shots better than ours (excluding Jodie).

bottom line is where is our coach in this. What adjustments does he make? For 3 games in a row we cannot handle dribble penetration, go for the block and can’t get the defensive board. This is very discouraging. We lost at home as an 8.5 point favorite. We lose at home several games a year. So much for the Rupp home court advantage. There’s always football.

Liggins played very well and the South Carolina guards were awesome. I am very disappointed, but have not lost sight of the big picture. Tough break for Perry who is usually a good free throw shooter. Win the next two and you still control your destiny.

You can tell on Billy’s face that the pressure is getting to him. That response at halftime- and today- you can just tell- he can’t take it. You have to be a very special kind of individual to thrive here- and I’m not sold Billy is. I do believe he is a very good basketball coach- I just am not sure the pressure is helping him or the team. And you can’t really blame the fans or complain- because that is the way we are- always will be. We will never look at it as a casual game like other schools do- and I’m proud of that. I just wish Billy would feel comfortable in his skin- Take charge- stop acting wish washy and ahh gee shucks and make this his program.

#93 There is another shooter on the team and he is from our own back yard. Landon Slone!!! But he doesn’t have enough stars to be on the court with the rest of our players. Liggins tells this excuse for a coach that he wont go back into a game and since then his playing time has increased. Landon works his butt off 2 games in a row, is a good shooter and plays smarter than anyone on the team and this coach won’t put him back on the floor.

We just got beat by the two stats that has hampered us all season long…allowing too many offensive rebounds and too many unforced turnovers. We have a better record and more depth than last year so stop acting like this was a NCAA championship team. They are still young and they need to stop with the stupid stuff. Billy’s teams get better each year and that is obvious since we are not 6-7 at one point in the season. I’m mad we pissed away the game, but I feel like once they stop with the stupid stuff, this team will be hard to beat. I was going to get on here and complain, but looks like you guys have taken care of it for me. I’m frustrated to the point of “What the heck do I do now?” I’m so tired of the senseless turnovers, the lack of adjustments in game, and being at a point in the season where things should have “worked themselves out”. I just want to say…I am sick of This coach, his rationalizations for his decisions, his demeanor, his interviews, his decision to play porter and harris, his decision to not play galloway, his smirk, the way he has been out coached by Andy Kennedy, Darren Horn, Tom Creen and Kevin Stallings, that after 2 time outs meeks shooting a half court shot was the best play he could come up with, the fact that every shot the opponent takes 3 guys go for the block and when they miss they get the rebound and get 2nd chance points…THIS is ridiculous… Mitch Barnhardt should have pursued someone like Tom Creen who has a little pedigree to his name…I am so sick of Gillespie and his Antics.

At least this will silence all the idiots saying we were going to go 14-2 or 13-3 in the SEC. Perry…you killed me Perry. He was the key to the game up until those free throws (South Carolina immediately went on that 16-2 run when he left the game with his 4th foul; that’s when they started killing us on the boards). I gotta somewhat agree with 116 — can’t bash Gillespie; Perry is the one who decided to dribble up the court instead of getting the ball to Meeks. But still, at the end of the day, it’s the turnovers yet again. Mark it down: 10-6 SEC finish and sweating on Selection Sunday to get in. It will depend on if we ultimately finish ahead of South Carolina.

BCG drew up that play we useed against Georgia in the SEC tourny last year at the very end. Meeks did seem to do it right plus the defender didn’t slide with Patterson when he ran the baseline.

We are a good point guard away from being a really good team. The problem is that one isn’t on our roster or coming next year either. If Porter could walk and chew gum we would have been up 15 or 16 early in the second half, and Liggins is just an athlete with no basetball savvy at all.

I absolutely hate ESPN!!! Why you might ask? Well, I was keeping up with the game on the internet when my internet froze with two minutes left in the game. Therefore, I got on the internet via my cellphone. By the time I got to the score ESPN said UK was winning 79-74 with 33 seconds left. I was relieved to see that we were going to pull this one out! What a relief. I proceeded to refresh the page to see what our final margin of victory would be. Lo and behold UK was losing 78-77 with 3 seconds left. I was like “WHAT!!! How in the world did USC score four points and UK LOSE two point in 30 seconds?!?!?!” I was so mad. I will never use ESPN again!!!! I have never had my heart crushed so hard.

It took Pitino awhile to fix UK just like it is gonna take another year or two to fix UK. Dont you all realize how down we were on talent? This team is young and think about how many were returning players. Crakaveli - you think playing zone is going to make a difference? There are so many that think a zone defense is the answer. One problem with a zone defense is defensive rebounding assignments. Take a look at the stats and notice how many offensive rebounds SC had. You play zone that number will be much higher. This team is built to play m2m.

Without Stevenson, we lose. not even close. We built our second half lead with him on the floor. After his 4th foul he sat and we lost the lead. He returned an we reclaimed the lead. The missed free throws hurt but in a close game each turnover hurts as much. Porter and Harris are struggling on offense and handling the ball. We make no adjustments. We play man to man exclusively but can’t stop dribble penetration. No conference championship at this point and we are now a bubble team.
Not Stevenson’s fault though. he did have a double double and numerous blocks.

Can’t we just give BCG some time to get his players in here? In three classes, he’s brought in Patterson and Legion, Liggins and Miller, and Orton and Hood. I’ll take 2 players of that caliber per year. Let’s assume a few are guided by prophet moms and go the way of Legion, or are cousins of Carruth / Rhodes, or go to the NBA early. That’ll leave us with 5 or so highly talented players. Throw in a few athletic role players that fit his system and I’d say we should be top ten most years. But give the man a few years. It always takes time to get a team to a top ten level.
Does anyone remember the criticism of Pitino when he was here? “Pitino will never win a championship because he plays too many players. Pitino should play a smaller rotation like Crum, Coach K, and Dean Smith.” That was absurdly wrong. It’s one of those baseless things that fans say with zero proof behind it. Today’s version is “Billy won’t get recruits with that boot camp mentality” (Already proven WRONG). “Billy tires them out too much on game day” (I know I’ve never seen a tougher team than BCG’s). Beyond the first senior class, Tubby left Billy: Meeks, a star; Jasper, decent but with flaws; Stevenson, decent but with flaws; - one star, two role players and the rest nearly unplayable is not good enough.

Biggest problem with this team? Wrong players on the court at the wrong time. Mark Coury started every game last year and yes he was only in for like 2 minutes but, whats he doin starting ballgames. If anyone should have stayed for this year it was Mark Coury. Harris and Porter can contribute at times but they can not consistently make open 3’s. Teams have figured out that if you stop Meeks the other players can’t beat you from outside and as a result Patterson usually has 2 or 3 defenders around him. To beat good teams you must have more shooters on the court. If coach Clyde would just look over his shoulder and grab the 1st red head he sees and put him in we would be better off.

I will agree with one point on here. Although Harris appears to have the desire, he lack offensive skills and I have never agreed with the lock down defender he is claimed to be. Miller and Liggins are looking much better and that will have a greater impact on how we do the remainder of the season.

Agreed, the supporting cast that has the talent needs to step up. Which to me is kinda happening with Miller and IMO, Galloway needs to see the floor more. I mean Porter is a good passer, but he’s a liability with the ball. When these NBA type players have the Jon Hood, 4 year type players to help out, then UK will be good again.

Turnovers cost us the Miami game, the Louisville and almost lost us other games if it werent for free throws. That has nothin to do with the coach, that’s the player. Last thing I will say…I support my team and I see the potential. I see that if they quit with the stupid stuff and I will say that Billy G needs to rethink who is playing, and when all this happens, this UK team will take off. I am being patient with this team because I see what they can and will be. They are still young and learning…just think…everyone returns next year, but Carter but who cares, all these players are more experienced, our new talent comes in that will start stealing some of our lesser talents minutes and this team will be good. 305 - I agree, the loss certainly hurt. But I thought South Carolina was a much better team than Ole Miss. Our offense was very effective today. We lost due to turnovers and poor defensive rebounding.
Meeks and Harris are the only upperclassmen to see any real time. BCG is just getting started. Personally, last season was one of my favorite teams ever. They played with so much heart every game - it made me proud to watch.

We need to stick with this guy and give his system a chance. The last two programs he took over got a lot better under him. Two years is just not enough to get rid of this guy. I read something that showed it took Donovan 2 years to get Florida going, Bill Self 2 years to get Kansas going and Ben Howland 2 years to get UCLA going. I’ll give him one more full year and then we should be good. His recruits coming next year along with Ferguson in a year or 2 (can’t remember right now) there’s a lot of potential. I’m just bummed today.

The overall talent level of this team is no where close to the dominating teams of the 90’s and it took Pitino four years before he put a final four team on the floor and seven years before he built a championship caliber team. BCG will never call a timeout to stop a run or to make sure Meeks (90% FT shoort) has the damn ball in his hands to ice the game! Who the hell does this shit??? No top coach would EVER not call a timeout with under a minute to go (especially when you had 2 to use) and not reinforce what needs to take place over the next 30 seconds. Come up with a play to get the damn ball to Meeks. This game came down to BAD COACHING. I like BCG, but he doesn’t do what he is paying paid to do: COACH. Very frustrated with him and he needs to come out and flat out apologize for the shitty job he did today.

Boy, we’ve got some real fans. Nature of the UK beast I guess.
Not everything is BCGs fault. You forget that South Carolina was playing too. Their players were trying to foil the most likely plays on those last two inbounds plays.
We only had 3.2 seconds on that last play. What sort of play would you have liked BCG to draw up. Perhaps an inbounds pass that swished through the net? BRILLIANT!!!
It sucks. Losing sucks. But as we all know, we’ve got less than perfect talent. I think BCG is doing ok with what he’s got. It takes more than 1.5 years to build a good team. All you cry babies who want a new coach just want to set us back another couple of years. BCG worked wonders at UTEP and A&M and don’t give us the BS that they’re not in the same leagye as UK. No one else had done it, and he did it. He couldn’t have done it if it didn’t know shit about basketball. All you BCG haters should get the Louisville shirts and hats out of the closet and get back to where you belong and stop calling yourselves UK fans.

Wake Forest lost today to GA Tech. Hell, it happens to the best. And when you’re nowhere near the best, well, what you see is what you get. When Meeks and Patterson are on, we win, if one or both are off, we loose. The focus on Meeks as hurt us.

438…if he cant coach then how did he take a 0-16 conference team in Texas A&M the year before he got there, to a top 5 team his 3rd year of being there and beating Louisville in the tourney? Or did you never notice that Illinois players Luther Head, Deron Williams, Dee Brown were his recruits when Self coached there? People like you obviously dont follow basketball very well. I agree, he doesnt play the right players in certain situations sometimes, but if he couldnt coach, then he wouldnt be at UK.

People: BCG should have had a timeout on the possession that Perry got fouled on! GET THE BALL TO MEEKS (he goes to the line, game over)–something even an 8th grade coach could do! I hate the fact he doesn’t play Liggins/Galloway/Miller and keeps putting in Harris & Porter. I hate it! I hate his way of playing the best PRACTICE PLAYERS in game situations. He is not getting it done here at KY; I don’t care what any of you people say. I wanted to trust him, believe in him, but every damn time he pulls another bizarre move. Even if we find a good combination in the first half he resorts back to the awful starting line-up in the 2nd half!!! What do Porter & Harris have on this guy to continue down this path to losing???

I never liked BCG from the word go. And when G Webb kept running the same plays over and over for layups or threes and no adjustments made ( just like every game ) is when I realized he has no clue what he is doing.

The only joke from today is the incompetence of some of our fans who are calling for Coach’s head.
BCG is a top 20 coach, we’re still a top 20 program but we won’t have top 20 talent for another 2-3 yrs (unless Meeks returns next year which is unlikely).
Look at the past 20 national champs and tell me how important their PG was to their run in the tourney. That is our obvious gap on both ends of the court and teams with good guard play will exploit it every time.
It truly is an embarrasment to the program to read many of these emotional posts.

448 NO BCG is not a top 20 coach, and no UK is not a top 20 team, and as far as PG play, the PG for Ole Miss just started playing PG the Wednesday before they beat UK. Why wouldn’t any halfass coach pressure a guy who just started playing the week before ?
