This is as much on Cal as the players he brought in. If we do not get Randle tomorrow then he should recruit his ass off and find some more players. Take the schollys from his friends son’s and give them to guys with talent. That way he can sit players when they aren’t performing. The cupboards were pretty bare this season.

Yes!!! I’m glad these kids went ahead and ended this season for us. Now they can either grow up and listen to their coach, transfer to another school or sit the bench and watch next year’s recruiting class show them how to play. This team will be known as the “Soon to be Forgottens”.

Please correct me if I’m wrong. But by my calculations, this is the earliest UK has been OUT of a tournament since the Probation Years. Wasn’t the last year we couldn’t do the SEC tourney was the 1990-1991 year? I mean, Billy Clyde and his Team Turmoil #3 lasted a little longer in the NIT.

I have to say, I am extremely happy that this pathetic season has come to an in. And, I’m EXTREMELY happy Weijter missed that three point and Robert Morris won because Robert Morris deserved to win and KY deserved to lose, and that wouldn’t have been right for KY to win because Robert Morris played their hearts out from start to finish. I am a UK Basketball fan, but GO ROBERT MORRIS. This was a team that play with heart, hustle, passion, and energy like UK should have played like all year long.

I hate to say it, but I called this one. You can’t turn down an NIT bid, but this is what I thought would happen. We went from a disappointing season to being able to make the case that this is the worst UK team of the 21st century. Gillespie’s NIT team was better than the one we witnessed tonight.Like many of you, I’m just glad it’s over. Here’s to snapping out of it tomorrow with a Julius Randle committment.

This has been the most frustrating team this year. Tonight was a prime example…three players showed up tonight to play…Jarrod Polson, Archie Goodwin and John Hood. Willie looked overwhelmed at times and the no shows were Wiltjer, Mays, Harrow and Poythress. Coach Cal has to be saying “Thank God this is over”

Polson, Hood, Harrow and Wiltjer aren’t athletic enough to play at this level and and Poythress just don’t want to be here. Got to find a scholarship for the kid from Madison Central as well as Randle and Wiggins. This crew is done except for Archie and Willie because they played there way out of the NBA consideration.

If cal cant coach without all 5 stars then what about umass and his early, his teams arent always up there with the best defensively because of talent that comes from COACHING! You cant always put it all on the coach he has some responsibility in missing on these guys but the reason they never reached their potential is because they refused to change.

Stop blaming Cal! You can recruit really good High school players, then they come in and the transition is overwhelming for them and they don’t adjust to the college level. When a young star comes in they’re used to dominating high school competition but when you some into college, you suddenly start competing against players who are just as good as you if not better. This happened to be one of those teams. However, I do agree that we need to clean house and recommend transfers and walking on. But Cal is not to blame, you can only do so much, the rest is up to the player. Here’s for getting next years roster right and having a great team next year!!! Go cats!!

This year’s team set the program back a couple of years. Cal will need to coach his arse off next year. I have complained against the one and dones for a couple of years….yeh, even when the Cats were winning. Can’t count on inexperienced freshmen and that is what we get again next year. No leadership from this year’s group (intentionally did not call them a team) to balance out the inexperience. Also, for all of the “Archie is our guy” commenters…..how quickly you forget his charging, falling down, out of control and hit the shot clock type plays. Still not buying into him. Cal had a 7 footer and didn’t even post him low or make him part of the game plan. Rough season but that’s why there is next year. Remember, this is just a game. The kids didn’t intentionally set out to do this bad, they just didn’t know any better.

If not be wouldn’t have had the success he has had. This was a bad year. We sucked. We also lost every starter from last year and also a great sixth man. It was ludicrous to assume this team would be anywhere near as successful. This team just did not work out. It happens. So please if your gonna hate on Cal or the players go put on an Indiana hat because you do not deserve to be a cat fan.

If Randle is sitting at home reading some of the crybaby posts from some of our own UK fans, THAT will be the reason he decides to play somewhere else. Why play for a bunch of fans who will throw you under the bus for “ONLY” having a 21-12 record (12-6 in Conference play). Seriously?
This ridiculous fanbase is undermining a UK dynasty that took over half a century to forge. Ease up on Cal. Two years ago he sold me on his coaching. He took guys like Jorts and Liggins and got them drafted. We beat WVA, UNC and Ohio St to get to the final 4. Man can coach. Just a bad year. If it’s a trend, I will worry. Next year we are fine.

Freakin’ idiots everywhere on here. Elite 8, Final 4, NC, NIT…I will take that four year run every time. Four #1 recruiting classes and possibly the best class ever assembled coming in next year. Anybody with an IQ of a potato can tell you that chemistry and point guard play did this team in. Put that on Cal if you want, but he plays a high risk, high reward game that has worked pretty damn good thus far. Same idiots calling for his head will be crowning him king again next year.

Archie is young but he’s showing some signs of getting it; I hope he stays and learns. I really wish we had another year with Julius; you can tell that he ran himself out of juice at the end of the season trying to put this team on his back. I suspect that Willie wants to come back, but he needs to grab the brass ring; his draft status this year is the highest it will ever get.
I don’t know what happened to Harrow, but I think he needs to transfer to an NAIA school or a D3 school. Poythress never checked in; I will consider us lucky if he shows up to class again after today.
The person I want to know about is Wiltjer. He was really coming into his own, and the wheels came off. I hope its just normal growing pains, and he will do what it takes to be the mature star we need next year. As glad as I am that Hood is getting playing time, Wiltjer should be deciding to never let it happen again.
I don’t know why this team gelled. I just hope that Cal learns from this one and does better with the next one.
