Well let’s hope Coach takes this group to school early and often. I think a lot of the UK staff, players and everyone around the program took a little time off this year and didn’t really see what was happening before it was too late.
It’s an odd thing to see and read with UK fans this year considering last year was a “return to glory” kind of season. The very worse is coming out now and it’s just odd. I understand the disappointment, heck I am too but it is what it is and they earned what they got. All of them including the staff.
Looking forward to see if this group can pull it together so they are at least remembered for something better than what is out there now. This next group…take a good look and see what can happen when you think the name on the front determines your success. It’s only a part of it, you still have to work hard!
Add those 6 to the right group of returning players, plus add 1 or 2 to the list of six, what do you got…. 2013/2014 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!! Add Randle to the list of six! GO CATS!!
This is seriously a great article that some writer from Duke or Louisville will re-publish. How nice that this years NIT is better than the NIT in 2009. What about 2010 and 2011 and 2012 or 1925 or 1853. Stupid article!
I’m a loser I’m a loser And I’m not what I appear to be
Of all the love I have won or have lost There is one love I should never have crossed She was a girl in a million, my friend I should have known she would win in the end
I’m a loser And I lost someone who’s near to me I’m a loser And I’m not what I appear to be
Although I laugh and I act like a clown Beneath this mask I am wearing a frown My tears are falling like rain from the sky Is it for her or myself that I cry
I’m a loser And I lost someone who’s near to me I’m a loser And I’m not what I appear to be
What have I done to deserve such a fate I realize I have left it too late And so it’s true, pride comes before a fall I’m telling you so that you won’t lose all
I’m a loser And I lost someone who’s near to me I’m a loser And I’m not what I appear to be
I’m continuing to take reason number #4 as my man for next year. James Young is getting lost to some extent in the hoopla and debates about Wiggins and Randle. The guy is a dynamic scorer and a lefty, and with the talent and scoring pop in the backcourt I think he is going to be great on the wing. I just hope that we get Randle to help anchor the inside game.
I remember in the good old days of Rupp. He wouldn’t allow no sissy players on his team.
I’m a UK fan and I’m always pis sed off. Someone took the last Pepsi at work, now I’m mad.
GRRRR
UK didn’t go 40-0 with the #1-10 Draft picks and the whole All american High school team as recruits. Cal didn’t loss 25 Lbs and looks like a fat asZ. Rupp arena wasn’t remodeled with gold floors and diamond door handles all paid by not the Tax payers but TinkerBell and the Fairy dust Queen.
ESPN didn’t show all UK all day every day…The FOOLS!!!!
Everyone in the country doesn’t like UK Now I’m really Ticked off.
This is the third time in six years that the defending champ didn’t make the tourney. In other words, in the current era, it’s happened half the time. This is just the way things are now in college basketball. As often as not, the defending champ won’t dance the next year. For better or worse, it’s reality.
#6 I concurr!!!! I’ve watched willis play 3 times this year, and i like the other kid on his team better than him, (#5, Droughtman?). Willis reminds me of Rob Locke. as for Dominique Hawkins, I had to watch his games online, never got to see him play live, From what i saw, i think he would be a great addition and push the point guards in practice, maybe even earn some time. I would much rather have Hawkins than Harrow.
#20 – Actually Corey messed this one up to…if you are counting reasons, it should have been in the form of a count down (i.e. Letterman’s Top 10), so the best reasons should be at the top…instead, Corey slotted the 2 best reasons at #5 and #6 and is essentially the Harrison twins are the least best reasons this year NIT is better than 2009 NIT and ; get it? So, Corey is still working toward that magical “somewhat relevant post” day of his journalism career.
I’ve been watching YouTube highlight videos all night long. So happy to see a elite point guard again. That’s what we lacked most of all. Also besides wiltjer there was not one person on this team that took or made mid range jump shots. Did Julias Mays make a drive to the basket all year? I can’t recall this ever happening.
Listening to Leach talking to Mike DeCourcey on the radio right now, and DeCourcey says that Teague staying another year would have cured all of UK’s problems this year. Also, Lamb made a dumb move going to the NBA last year. He could be leading this team in the NCAA Tourney this year and looking forward to a possible lottery pick this year.
Please let all of this team declare for the NBA. I could not stand to watch another year of these guys. As for the NIT, why would we expect for this team to all of a sudden start to listen and get better for the NIT? If you added up the basketball IQ of this team, you wouldn’t get a total of 50.
#22 – and it’s the 20th time overall it’s happened. Not exactly surprising watching how our season progressed, or lack thereof. As someone mentioned earlier if you told me in 2009 our next four seasons would include elite 8, final 4, hanging #8, and an NIT birth I would have been thrilled… people forget we’re one of, if not the best, program ever and we still only have 8 Titles… lots of time not winning titles… one year ain’t gonna kill us.
Also one more thing regarding or point guard situation. YouTube Ryan Harrow highlights. He’s jumping out of the gym throwing down dunks. Why did he not have a single dunk ALL YEAR??
I know this isn’t the reason for him not being or leader, but he always laid it in on fast breaks. Interesting I think. Any ideas???
This post seems a little irrelevant, don’t ya think? Considering we had Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe, and the rest of those guys after the 2009 NIT team. Same kind of thing here
Just to play devil’s advocate: of the above 5 players, I only see 3 who I think will make immediate impacts… So if we whiff on Randle, Gordon, and Wiggins, and some of this year’s players go pro, what makes y’all think we’re a lock for 2014 National Champions? Under these very possible circumstances, we could very well have a season similar to this one…
Crap, twins confusion. Of the 6 players above, I only see 4 who could have immediate impacts. If one or two of them end up being a Poythress type bust, and some of the above rings true, we could be just as bad as this team or mediocre.
i’m with you bojangles, unless we get Randle, Wiggins, or Gordon, and some of these guys come back for leadership and depth purposes, we could have the same type of season next year. Although, i think Cal and staff learned a lot this year, what not to do with elite talent. having Lamb, Jones, Miller last year with experience was the difference in these two teams. Also, Davis didn’t get hurt like Noel. i still love my team, will never quit defending and supporting them. Is it Football season yet???
So many Debbie Downer here. I believe Jerry Tipton said it the best, at least now Kentucky will be undefeated in the NCAA tournament for two straight years and possibly three.
34 – I wondered the same thing every time he got loose on a breakaway, which wasn’t often. “Let’s see this jumping and dunking ability we’ve been reading about.” Never happened. I really hope the bunch coming in next year are much more physically and psychologically tougher than the team we had this year. These guys were good losers, and moped and whined too much, and that’s not good. I hope we see some guys next year that get mad after a bad game and say “THAT is not going to happen again!”
There are no guarantees that this group of Freshmen will fall in line. What if we get two seasons in a row of bad basketball? Do we start looking at 2015?
Granted, I hope this year is nothing but a fluke, maybe these recruits will get the message…..maybe.

Cal needs to start wearing a TIE again.

I can’t believe I am participating in a NIT bracket challenge at work.. I work with a Florida State and Maryland grad.

I swear to God 5 and 6 look like twins!!!
March 18th, 2013 at 9:08 am
This might be the best post you’ve ever done.
2. If our team cared a bit I’d put down UK vs. FSU in the battle for Andrew Wiggins.
