UK released a statement regarding the scheduling of the NIT games. Many have been wondering why Kentucky, a #1 seed, had to travel for the first round game to Robert Morris. Kentucky did not put a bid in to host the 1st round game due to limited staff availability to properly host a game at Memorial Coliseum.
If Kentucky wins on Tuesday, the Cats could host the 2nd round and quarterfinal in Rupp Arena.

I am sick to my stomach…….
March 17th, 2013 at 9:37 pm
How is there limited staff when NCAA doesn’t play until two more days??? Doesn’t make sense.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Can this season get any worse, what a disgrace , uk, have you no respect for the fans that support the program. UK should be ashamed
March 17th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
First the players don’t care now the university
March 17th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
The UK admin want this season to be over. We will lose on the road.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
Who gives a sh*t? Hopefully they put a Vandy style beat down on this group of losers.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
This is April Fool’s day , instead of St. Parry… Please say it is. DAMN.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
This team doesn’t deserve to play in Rupp or Memorial nor in front of BBN.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
And yet no one cares. These players (not all of them) haven’t shown they’ve cared all season. I’m not saying we won’t still pack it out or close to it- because we’re kentucky and awesome like that – but its way more than this team deserves. I know they’re young and mostly not from our great state but I hope they understand how much they let the fan base down.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:41 pm
no
March 17th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
#6 I agree…I hope they kill us…let that be the lasting memory of this group…let them tell their kids about that in ten years
March 17th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
who cares
March 17th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
do you all realize how much administrative staff it takes to run the NCAA tournament? It’s not an issue of incompetence or disinterest. It’s logistics. If UT beats Macon, Ga’s Mercer, Vols would travel for 2nd round due to NCAA women’s tourney at Thompson-Bowling. Same deal.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
I wanted to plug my new shirt. It’s a spin off of the no 1 greater shirt from last year but instead says no 1 cares and it has a picture of Poythress, Harrow, and Wiltjer on the back
March 17th, 2013 at 9:43 pm
dummies, did Vandy not teach you a lesson. Do not look ahead. BIG BIG chance they will not play a second game. The first one is away and do I have to remind you how they play away. I am A BBF but live in reality. They have broken my heart numerous times this year, thank goodness there is only one heart break to go. Get it over with on the road and lets head to next year.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
How exciting. I spent 1,200 on tickets and hotel for Nashville. Don’t think I want to make an NIT investment.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
#14….very funny..They should hand those out
March 17th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
#7 Unfortunately………No, it’s real.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
LOL..staff issues. Truth is UK did not the game in memorial while UL playing their in BIG house
March 17th, 2013 at 9:45 pm
I just took a $5000 bet that’ve lose 1st game to Rob Mo. I am taking up to $20,000 in bets I will write again after I cash in.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:46 pm
Further indication of the complete incompetence of Mitch Barnhart. Go roll out the red carpet for the dad gum Cards and for get about your own team. He could get volunteers for the game in Memorial. What about the Committee of 101? They are far more competent than our idiot athletic director. He can blow Tom Jurich–again!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:46 pm
From #3 preseason to #1 NIT…u gotta luv it….2012 Cats continue to lower the bar.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:46 pm
no thanks…i’ll pass
March 17th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
Breaking News: Doug Shows has been assigned to the Ky-Robert Morris game on Tuesday night.
Shows says, “He’ll do this one by himself and for free.”
Wonder what that means?
March 17th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
This is pitiful, uk should have declined this invitation. This team doesn’t deserve to play another game in a uk uniform.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
How long before Pitino makes some smart ass comments or jabs…I hate this
March 17th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
If you gamble on NIT games then you have a serious problem. Please get help.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
I hate KY anyways. I hope Robert Morris kicks some Kitty cat pus__!!! Hahahaha. Ky couldn’t even get a home game. First they get their bubble busted now their going to get humiliated by getting beat in the Nit. Ky sucks and so do their fans that whine and complain all the time. Go U of L!!! The real Ky team in this state is UofL. Go Cards. Ky can go to H___!! Bye bye ky punk fans!! Hahaaaaa
March 17th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
When you cannot come up with enough staff to host a game, that is a clasic case of not being able to guard your yard!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Doug Shows and the refs for the game with all tech fouls the other day should ref the game
March 17th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Will be a moot point. The real season is over and this group will drop a bigger turd in that high school crackerbox than they did in Nashville with the real season still on the line. Time to care is long gone. Cal, this season you did indeed poop, but is sure as hell wasn’t ice cream.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
#28, Holman…Kiss the championship ring, we still hold it!!!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
When you don’t compete as hard as you can this is what you get.. back to a High School gym in the NIT!!
Leave everything you have on the floor. Treat it like you did a high school game well you get the NIT. I hope they show up with some pride and win an away game, Robert Morris is gonna be ready to play. I still support this team and I am not quitting on them. YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE CATS
March 17th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
@24 – LOL
March 17th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
You are not a true fan if you say I want the boys to lose to get the season over. You are fair weather cheese balls that need to burn all your UK gear. When you want back on the bandwagon next year, you all can blow me! Go Cats, win the NIT, and hang another banner next year. If your on board, shut the hell up !!!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
How can I buy tickets?
March 17th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
lol you people are pathetic fair weather fans, i dont want to see a single one of you back next year when we start winning everygame. a true fan supports the lows and the highs. What about the Eddie Sutton years? People bashing 18 and 19 year olds are scum.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
So, looking at the bracket, UK could host Baylor for the second time this season if both teams make it to the third round. That was one of our bad losses this season.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
#24: FRIGGIN HILARIOUS!! LOL
March 17th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
Aw Mitch, and things were looking up just a week ago. Sad for the team, sadder for the fans who were so revved up fot this season. If we can’t swim in the ocean, let’s own the pond, but I would like to see another game or two in Rupp.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
@14 – roflmao! I’d buy one of those!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
I mean lets be real, we’re gonna beat Robert Morris because we are still UK and we have more talent. I’m not predicting a blowout though. What scares me is the rest of the field who are all better than most of the SEC teams we lost to. Providence has a guy that led the big east in scoring and we know how well we fared against Baylor when we had Noel and were technically playing better basketball. I don’t think there is enough heart or will from both the players and coaches to win say…three NIT games, especially after the deflation of not makin the NCAA. But WE WILL BEAT ROBERT MORRIS in front of 2500 people!! Oh and cal gets to go home to his Yankee state!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
Me need to worry about the second round. Let me guess were young,we had a great practice, I love my team, Iam teaching them life lessons, ummmm life isn’t about basketball great job coach they listened to the basketball part. What a goof
March 17th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
For one, it won’t matter. UK probably loses the first game. On a positive note, doesn’t UK play the same time as a play-in game? If they do, at least most of the country would be watching that instead of the beat down UK is about to get. UK losing to RoMo wouldn’t even be on the minds of most people outside of Kentucky.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
The real KY Jelly team!!! FO’ SHO’ ESPN talkin about L’ville being in trouble by 2nd round LOLOLOLOLOL CHOKE ARTISTS – PAINT US A PICTURE.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
#32 that was last year you asssore!!! He’ll our coach has won of the rings from 96 with you bunch of cry babies. That’s why he left BC of you fair weather fans. Go UofL all the way in the real NCAA tourney.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
Not only did this team take years off of Cal’s life, they also cost him his bonus for making the tournament. But at least he still likes them…
March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
Well, it’s officially the offseason. KSR, let’s get some posts up on who we think is leaving early for the draft and some spring football news
March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
I hope we win so when Ryan Harrows pitiful self , Alex Poythress’s self and Julius “I never deserved a scholarship” Mays win and celebrate, we can hand them the trophy on their way out. Good riddance!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
We will beat Robert Morris, even in his gym. Kyle can’t guard him but the other four can and we’ll have Kyle stay down on the offensive end. We’ll win 53-51.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
They’ll host a second round game…well that’s assuming they show up, decide to play and actually win.
Mark LIptak
March 17th, 2013 at 9:57 pm
25… They should put a sign up sheet up at the Johnson Center and the first 9 people to sign get to go play the bob morris squad. Those other clowns clearly demonstrated that they don’t want to play anymore.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:57 pm
46- Haha…still bandwagoning your cards…LOL…where were you last year, and the one before, and before, and before, and before, and before, and before, and before, etc, etc, etc…………… ……….. …………..and before, and before
Oh, you weren’t even WATCHING basketball till this week at the local ghey sports bar
March 17th, 2013 at 9:57 pm
Never fails to amaze me…. Its proven again and again that the biggest group of losers are some of the posters on this site. Not all of you… but a bunch of you.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
COME ON GUYS!! THIS IS STILL THE OFFSEASON!! WE STILL HAVE TO GET BEHIND OUR TEAM!! LET’S GO BIG BLUE!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
#46, you are correct, that was a ring from last year…not 1986.
And, when the tourney ends the last ring that UL will have willo still be from 1986.
Glad you are enjoying our hand me down coach.
You and he had your 15 seconds of glory tonight….sorry, that is Pitino’s 2nd 15 min utes of glory.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
Well, it looks like we may get to hang number 9 this year after all. Go Cats!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Could someone please explain this for me. If UK goes to the NCAA and wins one or maybe two and gets beat, or they go to the NIT and possible win it all really why would that not be acceptable? I know it is not the NCAA, but maybe this way they can play a few more games. Just Saying!!
March 17th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
Just get that barn in downtown called Corrupt Area ready biatches. Kentucky’s team (The LOUISVILLE CARDINALS) are coming to town.
March 17th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
ould have said 15 second of glory!Shp
March 17th, 2013 at 10:01 pm
These Loserville fans are hilarious. They have not won a thing since 1986 and they are making fun of us. Did they forget that we were 8 time National Champions just last year.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
Agree with #25
March 17th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
61: they were doing what they were used to – not winning. We were too busy listening to the IU fans talk about dominating us …..sigh
March 17th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Old quick Pri** Rick and the boys will soon be home with their season over as well!!!
March 17th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
I am down in the dumps, but you know your Wildcats are still King when Louisville is the #1 overall seed and all they fans are on a UK website. Enjoy it now Cards fan cause 2014 banner will hang in Rupp soon.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
Who wants to bet we end up with Doug Shows calling the damn game! UK administration just sucks no way we should be on the road! DISGRACE!
March 17th, 2013 at 10:07 pm
Maybe Georgia Tech’s arena is available and we can play in it.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:07 pm
@20- I doubt you can count to 5,000 so you’re going to lose either way but be very wary of those exiled Nigeran princes on 4th Street who ask for a good faith deposit on your wager.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:08 pm
Truely “The Gold Standard” A 3000 seat nit gym. you can forget about wiggins or any other top recruit left out there coming to UK. It sucks
March 17th, 2013 at 10:08 pm
Really uk!!!!! If you can pay for staff for other functions, you can pay for this event. What’s different from this tuesday to next tuesday.Don’t accept the bid if you don’t want this team to play in NIT tournament. To play at Robert Morris is a slap in the face to the true supporters of the program.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:13 pm
I say…fill up rupp and cheer for whoever is playing the card.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:13 pm
To be fair, I imagine that hosting an NIT game was an after thought to the UK Athletics Dept staff when they had to decide whether or not to host. #3 preseason, probably never dreamed they would actually need to think about hosting an NIT game. Now, having siad that, I bet they offer to host each year in the future.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
NIT stands for not in the tournament. Do you think people will still party and burn couches if we win? Go Cats.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:19 pm
#59. At least our downtown “barn” doesn’t look like an over-sized Airstream trailer. Not to mention, our “barn” has 8 championship banners hanging in it. The KFC Chum Bucket has 2, the newest one being >25 years old.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:19 pm
The UK Administration thinks it will take the sting off their pride to leave the girls gym (Memorial) and play out of town while Louisville is in town playing in the men’s gym (Corrupt Arena). lol
March 17th, 2013 at 10:20 pm
What a shame that so called Cat fans turn tail and run on one bad season. Agreed it seems uncalled for that we make this a road game. UK administration gave up to easy on this but BBN supports the Cats instead of looking like a bunch of “giveups”. Hoping we lose? Only a loser would say that! What a shame we have fans like this. National Championship last year, maybe a National Championship next year, whats wrong with that? And we cannot decline the NIT invitation by rule. If one more person writes that we should not accept the bid I will scream! I hope the team represents us better than this fan base does! Go Cats!
March 17th, 2013 at 10:22 pm
The Lexghanistan area Walmarts are having a special on Lawn Furniture. This way if the UKAY MILDCATS win the NIT (snickering), the UKAY fans won’t have to carry their fine furniture out of their mobile homes to burn in the streets.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:26 pm
Hey Cheatapari, if the UKAY program is the Needle; the needle is reading “Champs to CHUMPS”.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
We should not accept a bid to the NIT.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
@59 – We’re ready. Just refurbished the Bill & Monica + Rick & Karen table for four VIP room with disposable tablecloths and 10% discount coupons from Discreet Drycleaners R’Us. Enjoy your brief visit. Tips may be forwarded to the Yum Center Save The Taxpayer fund.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:45 pm
I bet the Corbin arena would have been glad to host that game and holds more fans.
March 17th, 2013 at 10:49 pm
KSR is retarded. Go cats
March 17th, 2013 at 10:51 pm
I hope Louisville gets beat
March 17th, 2013 at 10:51 pm
Ky is gonna go all the way. Go cats
March 18th, 2013 at 12:35 am
I have been a True Blue fan for 40+ years and it sickens me to read some of the comments above putting down these 18-20 year old kids that chose to wear the Blue and White for our great state! Unlike some of the “Fair Weather” fans commenting on this blog, I Do Not miss a UK game unless I have no other choice, and saying you hope UK loses or wishing these young players gone just proves to me that you are not true Kentucky fans! Anyone who can take making it to the Elite Eight, Final Four, National Champion, and then stumbling the next year don’t deserve to be a part of the BBN! I hope these kids go into the NIT and show the kind of fight and talent that we know they possess and reach the championship! I will support these young kids playing for the CATS for as long as I live, and any other “so called” fan that doesn’t, well quite frankly, is not a true fan!
March 18th, 2013 at 1:28 am
I am a huge UK FAN, and was a huge fan of Pitino at UK. It sucks that our boys did not play with the heart of many teams of UK over the years, but i sure as heck take a Louisville Championships over rat face Duke any date. I root for the state of Kentucky and sure as heck not for the state of North Carolina. Go Big Blue and we hang another in 2014. I hope Louisville takes down those cry babies in booington, IN.
March 18th, 2013 at 8:56 am
I’m with you #85/Catfan61. Many are trolls and posers but some are alledged UK fans. Not surprising but definitely disappointing. Go Cats!!!!!!
March 18th, 2013 at 9:04 am
UL fans suck.
March 18th, 2013 at 9:43 am
UK not hosting, pathetic!
March 18th, 2013 at 10:49 am
What an embarassment. Maybe Cal could invite Wiggins, Randle and Gordon to Pittsburg for anoher unofficial visit for the NIT “home” game where we play the #8 seed in their gym as our reward for such a great season. We could show them how Mitch rolls. Buy your tickets and come on down. Go Big Blue. SMH
