[Moderated by Matt Jones, Drew Franklin and Tyler Thompson]

Joe Lunardi updated his bracket projections to reflect Kentucky’s loss to Vanderbilt, and as expected, it’s not good. Lunardi says the loss moves Kentucky to the first four out, along with UVA, Maryland and Alabama.
If they don’t make the tournament, Jeff Goodman thinks Cal should decline an NIT invitation: “If I were Calipari, I’d decline the (NIT) invite and end this season with some semblance of dignity.”

Would absolutely decline the bid. Just bow out, the title defense is impossible, nothing to play for. Save the players the agony.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:43 pm
What des he know about dignity?
March 15th, 2013 at 10:44 pm
Let me begin by saying that I’m very glad that I have a wife, kids and a very beautiful and full life to come home to tonight after this national embarrassment at the hands of a 15-16 Vanderbilt team. All the jokes made at the expense of Kevin Stallings will be on us tonight in one of the most miserable performances in the history of UK basketball. Actually it is quite difficult to think of a more insipid performance in our history. So, now it comes time to write the epitaph on this excruciatingly painful and uninspiring season. What to say? NIT bid? Please, no, decline it so that this team can be no more and so that Cal can go to Gethsemani and take a week or two to meditate and reflect upon how the all-access circus mentality has destroyed our ability to build a fundamentally sound, hungry and determined basketball team less than one-year after we dominated the sport….how the “players first I’d never want to offend an aspiring 5-star basketball recruit” has decimated a coaches ability to mold “ballers” into real basketball players and men who have balls and know what it takes to win….and what an honor and privilege it is to wear the blue and white….etc.etc.etc…I sincerely hope that this is the last basketball game we’ll ever see this group play…not because I hate these kids or want to see them fail…but because they’re not ready for this stage, they never were ready for it, and the circus into which they we’re thrown never gave them a chance….it is time to scrap that script, close out this year, and begin again next year with the business-THE SOLE BUSINESS-of learning how to become a team and win basketball games.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:44 pm
This season needs to mercifully end. Now. It’s over. It’s either that or go lose to Eastern Michigan.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:45 pm
Decline. For sure.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:45 pm
No N.I.T
NO N I T
March 15th, 2013 at 10:46 pm
He’s an idiot! Wait the Nit championship game will be UK vs. UNC and the NCAA Will be “Wyoming vs. Butler”. What game are you watching?
March 15th, 2013 at 10:46 pm
Let me begin by saying that I am a complete jackass!!!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:47 pm
MISSISSIPPI LOSS
MARYLAND LOSS
ALABAMA LOSS
VANDY LOSS
=
UK @ DAYTON
March 15th, 2013 at 10:47 pm
I think when ole miss loses to missouri we move up one spot…it could go either way on sunday…i think they put us in play in game in dayton to draw big money…think it would be nice to get in, who knows maybe they win one and put a scare in someone…either way i’m not dissappointed…bbn is about championships and cal got us our first in 14 years last year…he will get us another in the next 4 years…i’ll take it any day
March 15th, 2013 at 10:47 pm
It’s (thankfully) over…NO NIT!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:47 pm
If I hear Joe Lunardi’s name one more time, I’m gonna f**king lose it!!! He’s a moron who probably still lives in his mom’s basement and has a bill due to Columbia House Records. What a lucky SOB!!!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
Please do NOT accept a NIT bid.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
Decline it this season needs to be over. Its best for everyone. An nit loss would just prolong the misery of this season. But stay positive people next year will be MUCH FUN FOR BIG CHIEF!!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
You’re faced with a situation in which you’re playing NIT in Memorial while the Big Dance plays out down the street in Rupp. I’m sure there are players with decisions to make, not NBA decisions either. It would be embarrassing to get an NIT 1 seed, blow it against a MAC or CUSA school in Memorial, set up an all around ugly situation. Title defense has ended, season ended.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
Could someone please delete boss hogs post.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
Ha,ha..I know “Bosshog,” the a%hole who keeps posting that same comment over and over….he’s doing an IRB approved experiment for a psychology class about fan behavior after a disappointing loss. He’s a psychology grad student and this is part of his work….so, be advised that if you’re taking the bait here you’re going to be featured in his research! LOL!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:50 pm
Why would anyone think we would give any more effort than we did tonite? Pleas NO N.I.T!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:50 pm
No Not Interest Tournament Bid Please. This has been the worst season since BCG last season. F**K the dumbs**t. Cal needs to do himself and all of Big Blue Nation a favor, decline bid and just close the book on this crappy season.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:50 pm
WTF, when did Lunardi come up with first 4 Byes? Have I been asleep or this new???
March 15th, 2013 at 10:52 pm
Lunardi and Goodman…u both rock….agree on both comments.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
No NIT and Cal should resign. If not we have this sheet to look forward to every other year.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
We absolutely DECLINE the NIT bid. Billy Clyde should have declined in 2009. WE ARE NOT AN NIT PROGRAM!!!!!!!!! (If I were Chane Behanan this is where I would say) POINT. BLANK. PERIOD!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
17.) Yeah, but other people are saying fake stuff, too. So what is his research on, fake comments?
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
12…thanks for lol on a bad night…columbia house records…that’s hilarious
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
I hope we decline the NIT. Losing In the NIT and we officially are no better than a BCG that had less talent than we do. Just end the season with some dignity and start preparing for next year.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:53 pm
This seaon? Ahhhhh hell….no comment.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
22 What the hell is wrong with u?
March 15th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
can’t spell..can’t think….ahhh hell
March 15th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
Why would they decline a bid? You want to play as much basketball as you possibly can, whether its in the NIT or NCAA. You can always choose to stop watching if you want the season to be over.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:55 pm
28, he’s a troll. The blog is and will be full of them for awhile.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:55 pm
Joe Lunardi is the most overrated human being on the planet, make it the galaxy. NOW that the Cats are out of the SECT, if I hear one more thing about Lunardi I might stop watching basketball for the remainder of this week. And I love tourney basketball, even w/o UK. Lunardi can go down to the nearest river and soak his head in it for all I care. Screw his bracketology, screw ESPN & Duke.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:56 pm
From this point forward Coach needs to put his energy into next years team. Nothing from this year helps next years team. Therefore, if any of the current players come back they need to focus on how they can help support the starters. If they have any attitude about that then they need to move on.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:57 pm
Cal has to accept the NIT invitation. He’s a player’s first coach and he owes it to these kids to get them back on the court and pad their stats for the NBA scouts. Remember – it’s not about the team, or the program – it’s about the players. It’s about that magical night in the middle of the summer when David Stearn calls out names.
Cal gets it!
March 15th, 2013 at 10:58 pm
#12 My mom said I could have a girl over if I ever find the right one on the Internet.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:59 pm
UK is the best NIT program around. We can beat Eastern Kentucky with ease.
March 15th, 2013 at 10:59 pm
NIT wins count toward our all-time winningest program total too you know. Bubble teams are dropping left and right, so we may be going to Dayton if we’re lucky.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:00 pm
I don’t understand la salle also lost to am even worse team but yet they are still there. Have they beat a team in the top 100
March 15th, 2013 at 11:01 pm
End the season with some semblance of dignity? LMFAO! What semblance? That we can keep it to within 20 against a sub .500 team? Oh, I’m sorry,I got the math wrong….Vandy got to .500 with their victory over us! Well, at least we’ve got Saturday clear tomorrow, I hope the weather is nice!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:01 pm
UK fans need to cheer for the Cards in the tournament! We will cheer for UK in the losers (NIT) tournament.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:02 pm
#22…In four seasons Cal has 2 final four appearances, 1 Elite Eight, 2 SEC Tourney championships, 2 SEC regular season championships and 1 off year and you want him gone? Not to mention the biggest accomplishment of all, the #8 banner we hung in RUPP just under a year ago. Go be a bandwagon fan somewhere else and don’t jump back on ours when we’re back on top next season.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:03 pm
Who can stand to watch this team anymore. cal takes the blame and rightfully so, I watched harrow just walk by cal when he was trying to tell him what to do, it was like cal didn’t exist. Cal lost control of this team a long tome ago, they have no respect for him or UK basketball, hope he gets rid of at least three Ap, Rh and AG. Un-coachable.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:03 pm
Please God just end the season, make this train wreck STOP !!
L1C4 you better when this year or you will never when again.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:03 pm
#40 Hell Hasn’t frozen over yet so there will be none of that….
March 15th, 2013 at 11:04 pm
I am a long time big blue fan and grad, but its over for me. I am officially a louisville fan now. I dont like the direction the program is going in.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:04 pm
I wonder who the third four out are?
March 15th, 2013 at 11:05 pm
Glad to see all the losers out tonight spewing their non sense. Especially that prick oldschool.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:06 pm
# 40, what is Lick4?
March 15th, 2013 at 11:06 pm
4 players(3 without Noel) that should be in the NBA next year and they can’t even win enough games to solidify and at large bid?
March 15th, 2013 at 11:06 pm
#41, don’t forget about the NIT bid this year, he ain’t god, he has blew his share of games at UK , remember west Virginia ?
March 15th, 2013 at 11:07 pm
Double Dropkick this season
March 15th, 2013 at 11:07 pm
We thought we were getting 4 Cal freshmen this year, and we wound up with 4 Pitino freshmen
March 15th, 2013 at 11:09 pm
#40 your team is playing on ESPN right now and you’d rather be on KSR? What kind of loyal fan are you? Remember last year when we beat you in the Final Four, hang a banner and you can come back and talk smack. How many championships have we won since the last time Loserville won a championship? At least 3! Enjoy talking smack while you can because we will destroy you in Rupp next season.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:11 pm
45. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
Seriously though, if one year makes a program or system in your eyes, we don’t want you. Just don’t come back when the Cards choke in the tournament. Them and IU can’t both win it, and both expect to. One will have a disappointment of a season.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:11 pm
49…What players are you watching? Poythress, Goodwyn, and harrow are not NBA players. AP and AG will get drafted but will spend their time playing in the D league. Mark it down, you will NEVER hear from those guys again after they leave here.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:12 pm
I’m a really unhappy person who spends all his time on a fan website while pretending to be a fan myself. I enjoy being negative in every post in order to try and make other feel as miserable as I do. The sky is falling and coach cal is the worst coach in all of basketball.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:13 pm
Like many have said I think the committee would put UK in over a team like MTSU or LaSalle just to sell tickets and get ratings. I hope that UK can make it in but I’m not sure they deserve to
March 15th, 2013 at 11:13 pm
#45, you gonna jump back on the UK bandwagon next year when UofL is losing and we’re back on top? This season was disappointing but it can only go up from here. That’s all right though. Come to Rupp next season when we play your new favorite team and walk out with your head down after we demolish them. True fans don’t just “decide” to root for the rival school.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:13 pm
50. All coaches have down years. Coach K lost to Lehigh. Roy Williams had an NIT year after their NC. Give Cal as much credit for wins as losses.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:14 pm
L1C4 aint that the gayest crap uve ever heard???? throw up those loser signs!!!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:15 pm
Goodman needs to wash his mouth out with a revolver. He’s probably right, but that makes him no less of a douche bag
March 15th, 2013 at 11:16 pm
Just let this season be over. I am not so sure I want this team to go to the dance as they will most likely embarrASS UK and themselves.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:17 pm
WOAH… Joe Lunardi has Duke falling ALL the way the the LAST # 1 seed with their first round humiliating loss in the ACC tournament
March 15th, 2013 at 11:18 pm
He has us in the first four out and is loving every minute of it. He always tries to pit the selection committee against UK.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:18 pm
Lunardi is correct in my opinion.
End this season, see who is returning next year (because they aren’t getting drafted…) and basically tell them, “you’ll buy in or you won’t get off the bench and will never see the NBA unless you buy a ticket to a game…”
Mark Liptak
March 15th, 2013 at 11:18 pm
55, The latest draft projections I saw had all 4 of those guys being drafted. I certainly wasn’t including Harrow in that mix but was talking about AP, Goodwin, Noel and WCS. I think everyone except for Noel will end up in the D-league. But even with that said, they should certainly have won more games this year against teams that were way less talented.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:18 pm
I almost drove 6 hours to see this game. I am sooooo glad that I didn’t. I don’t have a good feeling about this Team and really haven’t from the begining. I agree with 62, let it be over.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:20 pm
If you put this entire team together you wouldn’t get one good NBA player.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:20 pm
Just say no to the NIT.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:21 pm
45 @millertime, then you never really were a UK fan… sorry.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:22 pm
Wouldn’t want this team to go to the NIT as they don’t have any pride and would totally screw up even that opportunity.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:23 pm
Glad there are so many quiters in this fan base! You all are r bunch of losers with no pride or respect for your school! Rollover and run like the bunch of biotches you are! Grow up…….
March 15th, 2013 at 11:25 pm
Considering how money hungry the NCAA is, I think UK still gets an invite. If it comes down to Lasalle or UK, I think I know who will sell more tickets. If an NIT invite is the only option, UK has to go. The NIT is ran by the NCAA. To turn down the invite would be like begging for the NCAA to rule a player ineligible or some other bogus action. Just a thought from a UK viewer by marriage (not a hater but a Cards fan).
March 15th, 2013 at 11:25 pm
Agree with not going to the NIT. The sooner this season is over the better for all involved.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:26 pm
Hey #72, our problem is not that we quit on this team, our problem is that this team quit a long time ago and we just keep hanging on like a battered spouse. We really should seek help.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:27 pm
45 – So that National Championship last year didn’t do it for you? You’re an idiot troll!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:27 pm
With the quit in this team they will probably quit going to class, not finish the semester and then drag down our “graduation” rate. They will be practicing for the NBA.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:28 pm
Has football spring practice started yet?
March 15th, 2013 at 11:33 pm
Decline it, agree with Goodman for once. Go get Wiggins.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:34 pm
You walk into that locker room and tell a bunch of young men you are done with them…… Sad! You start something you finish no matter how bad it might be! I saw this team at Rupp beat uf and mizz and on those days they could play with any team in the country, so the majority of you can rollover and take your ball and go go home but I’m sticking next to the CATS!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:37 pm
77. I would hope Cal threatens them with bad reviews to NBA scouts. If a guy is uncoachable, Cal might not want to say so, but if a guy stops going to class he could let a few words slip into the wrong ear and kill a guy’s career.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:39 pm
Stooooooooooooooooops!!!!!!!!!!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:42 pm
Please just get this misery over with. Cal clean house this year n start over next year. This is the most embarrassing team that’s ever set foot on the Rupp Arena floor. Sad really sad. Encourage all of em to enter the draft or transfer. Start with a clean slate next year. No returning players next year cud make things better. Kick em all out n keep recruiting.
March 15th, 2013 at 11:44 pm
It’s time to turn the “AIR RAID” sirens on——-STOOPS TROOPS!!!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:50 pm
As bad as I want this season to be over,I believe there has never been an SEC team with 12 conference wins, not make the tourney… This could be the 1st…
March 15th, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Folks, we just shit the bed!
March 15th, 2013 at 11:54 pm
We go to the NIT. We get more money for our university and conference to play in the post season, no way we pass up a bid. It is interesting that the past five years we have two final fours and a national championship to go along with 2 NIT appearances. If we don’t make the NCAA this year, Tubby Smith will be our only coach that has not missed the NCAA.
March 16th, 2013 at 12:02 am
even if we make the tournament who are we going to beat? this team has absolutly no fight or heart. last years team would beat this one by a hundred points. no one on this team desearves to wear the kentucky uniform because they are not playing for the school or the program, they are all concerned only about theirselves. please no more games, let this season die a merciful death
March 16th, 2013 at 12:12 am
Well I really hate to see us not get in the Tourney it really kills me that like many fans I give up a lot to make sure I dont miss a game, and I agree with some posts about us being talented, well young or not if your 5* freshman you should be a really great basketball player and we have 5 of them and 2 Mr. Kentucky`s and got smoked by a vandy team with a couple 3 * players that also were young, just shows if you cant play as a Team you wont be a good team they all need to return to help the next class then will be back in top 5……GO CATS………… Come back freshman
March 16th, 2013 at 12:14 am
If they play, I’ll watch. I’m addicted. But that said, it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they didn’t play another game.
March 16th, 2013 at 12:16 am
Decline. Who really wants to watch this group anymore.
March 16th, 2013 at 12:29 am
As for the NIT Hell No if we dont make the tourney we need to start working on players for next yr and Cal needs to talk with Poythress,Cauley-stein harrow they need to come back as for Goodwin I think him and Poythress could be 2 of the best players in college basketball if they came back and learned to play as a unit
March 16th, 2013 at 12:39 am
Welcome back to earth lol
March 16th, 2013 at 12:50 am
First, we have to accept a bid to the NIT as per what #87 mentioned. I agree with this. As we have been saying, it is what it is. This team we have right now is just over-rated and under-achieving at best. I also agree with #92′s post about the players needing to come back. We should have at least four back, not including Polson and Hood. In some ways this team kinda reminds me of the 1978-79 team that followed the championship team in 78. We lost Chuck Alexinas to transfer after christmas, and Dwight Anderson to injury during the SEC tourney, but that team never quit and really hustled. I don’t agree with some of the coaching tactics and strategy about Joe B, but he did keep a full bench. Now we just wait and see. Really depressing.
March 16th, 2013 at 12:58 am
I am disappointed this year but fully support Cal. He has done phenomenal these last few years. However, the last time I heard he makes over 4 million a year. Making that type of money does not mean NIT bids. The criticism is deserved, but he will bounce back.
March 16th, 2013 at 1:22 am
The team should be permitted to vote if they would prefer to play in NIT.
March 16th, 2013 at 1:22 am
Those of you saying decline the Nit heck Cal, made a living off the Nit before Douglas Roberts, Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans. Memphis was like the NIT champs back to back under Cal.
We Uk, nuts will be at Memorial packed to the rafters saying we are going too win the nit championship gurantee it we are nutcases.
March 16th, 2013 at 1:25 am
@59 this team has 4 nba first rounders , even after one going down 3 were still playing so know Cal, doesn’t get any slack in my eyes!!!!!!
March 16th, 2013 at 1:33 am
May still get in, if not I hope NIT is accepted; I love UK bball
March 16th, 2013 at 1:52 am
I THINK TOO MUCH EMPHASIS IS BEING PUT ON LUNARDI AND HIS PICKS, IF YOU LOOK BACK AT LAST
YEARS BRACKETS HE MISSED QUITE A FEW, AND MISSED TEAMS THAT WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN GOT
IN THE TOURNEY. EARLIER THERE WAS AN ARTICLE IN KSR ON HOW GOOD HIS PER CENTS WERE OF THE PICKS AND IT WAS NOT THAT GOOD. IF YOU LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF TEAMS LOSING AND HOW CLOSE KY
IS TO THEM ,THEN LOOK AT THE CROWD KY BRINGS I BELIEVE IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND KY WILL
GET IN. ALSO THE FACT OF LAST YEARS CHAMPIONSHIP, AND THE TV CROWD AND HOW MUCH THEY MAKE OF
MATCH-UPS BETWEEN TEAMS KY WOULD BE A BETTER DRAW THAN ANY ONE ELSE ON THE BUBBLE. OTHER THAN
THAT I WOULD SAY NO TO THE N I T…
March 16th, 2013 at 1:57 am
They should take the NIT invitation if that’s all that’s available for the money. Also, hopefully, it will take the one-and-doners (like Goodwin/Poythress) down a peg and show them just how overrated they are. Maybe they’ll be humbled into realizing their real worth instead of their “NBA potential” and stay another year. I am a real fan and will root for them, even in the losers’ tournament.
March 16th, 2013 at 3:26 am
Last years TEAM brought me so much enjoyment, as a UK fan I was proud and bragged about them, and they had my back and no one could talk smack about my Cats, accept for those darn Hoosiers, that is until my Cats pimp slapped that Hoosier @$$ out on the NCAA Tournament!
This years squad has been like a roller coster up and down and Out, the only consistently bright spot was the center position even after Noel went down big Willie stepped up, unfortunately there’s 4 more positions to fill, a floor leader, a defensive stopper, a clutch shooter and a rebounding beast, a sixth man would have been nice too.
Next years hopefully Team looks very promising can’t wait to see how the roster fills out?
March 16th, 2013 at 3:32 am
Vanderbilt a team that lost as many players as we did from last year, but did not reload as we thought we did, did Vandy even have a top 100 player?????
March 16th, 2013 at 3:45 am
how in the hell are Cal and Oklahoma in? look at their resume and then someone explain it to me. not saying UK deserves to be in because we haven’t done anything to help our own cause but Oklahoma and Cal suck and have identical resume’s to ours.
March 16th, 2013 at 4:54 am
I don’t like the idea of being in the NIT, but then again, I also like watching UK play and the players are on the team because they like playing basketball. If they will put in the effort (unlike in that last game), I say take the bid. They will certainly still get fan support based on the last time we were in the NIT – packed house.
However, if they play like they just did with Vandy it doesn’t matter if it is the NCAA or the NIT tournament, it will be a disaster. If they can play with heart and effort, I would enjoy getting to watch them play if the NIT is the only way for that to happen. That’s entirely up to them and their own attitude. If we can advance at least a few games in that tournament it adds to our overall total in the win columns – those games count on the record just like any other official game.
March 16th, 2013 at 6:23 am
UK SHOULD accept an NIT bid. They are not better than the NIT that is for sure. Cal should force these kids to play in the NIT. First and formost, Cal should be forced to play in the NIT. This is Cals team with all freshman. He needs to learn he needs players who stay longer than 5 months at UK. He does not recruit them now and the experienced players have all graduated.
Second, he needs to force these freshman premonis that he does recruit that life will not be given to you. If these guys have a hard time with Vandy, Tennessee and Arkansas, please explain the Lakers and Spurs to me next year?
Play in the NIT and maybe Cal will learn something he does not have. Humility. I hope he has the courage to play the NIT because if they chose not to play the NIT, it will should the players and fans that Calipari thinks he is too good for it. Clearly he isnt. Only 2 UK coaches have never been to the NIT. Pitino and Smith. Both of them won NC as well. So Cal is not special.
March 16th, 2013 at 6:27 am
The hell with letting the team vote. They already think its a players program. THIS IS KENTUCKYS PROGRAM. It is not the Univerisity of Goodwin or Stein or Harrow or Proythress. When you were in college, did your History teacher let you chose the questions to the exam? WTF is going on now at UK with basketball then? These are 18 yr olds. Adults lead, kids follow, not the other way around.
Play in the NIT……because you deserve to and to act like we are better than that makes UK look like a bunch of people who think these deserve something because they are at UK….which sadly I think is what we have now at UK.

I say decline the NIT, start working for next year. Go back to 5th grade basketball and teach fundamentals like passing the ball, 3 on 2, 2 on 1 fastbreaks, etc. these kids have dunking down pat, but nothing else.
Be respectful, just recognize this is not a good team. They are not the defending champions. I like Saban’s approach at Alabama. We are not the defending champions, last years team was national champions, this team has not won anything yet, do not permit the words defending champions to be used by the media, or fans.
Next years team are not losers, just like this team was not national champions. We have to wait and see what they are, but its exciting to think what they can be.

Nick Saban gets it… Doesn’t have to use “players always right” approach either
I heard him make those comments and thought
how well spoken they were.. I’m for sure not even close to giving up on Cal. I hope he retires
Here many years from now…we will get there

One of the best post of the night #108. Well said. Cal will correct the mistakes made this year and we will be back on top next year. Until then, I agree, be respectful to the kids and the program. Nothing but good things ahead for our Cats!!!

The entire season was as predictable and redundant.

You can’t tell me we aren’t in the top 64 teams in the country. Forget Lunardi! Get rid of the conference tournaments and make it a wide open NCAA for all teams. Get rid of the subjective crap from clowns like Lunardi.

guys, that other post isnt me. This is me right here.

112- did you watch the game bro? This UK team got pounded like a drunk slut at a frat party by Georgia, Atkansas, Tennessee, and now Vandy. I’m not one to take pot shots at our kids but this is the worst “team” we have had for a long long time.
They held their own destiny in their hands. Then they took a big sh.t on it.

The only reason I would consider the NIT would be the public relations ramifications of not accepting the invitation. Will it come off as elitist? Will it give other programs fuel in recruiting against us? I’m sure I echo the sentiments of many in saying, “We’ve seen enough.” We do not have a very good team and I think most of us have realized it and have come to accept it. Quite honestly, I think we would get bounced in the first round of the NIT anyway, which will just make us all even more bitter.

115. U are correct!
March 16th, 2013 at 9:44 am
If these guys are going pro, then NO to the NIT.
March 16th, 2013 at 10:03 am
Let me start by saying I am giving myself the ol double knuckle right now…
March 16th, 2013 at 10:14 am
I get paid by the game…he better not decline a NIT bid! I’ve been eyeing a new Swiss Timepiece from Genesis!
March 16th, 2013 at 10:20 am
This is a very disappointing season for Wildcat fans everywhere and needs to be over soon. Not accepting a N.I.T. bid would be counter productive for the program as it would mean less revenue for the program, a public relations nightmare, and ammunition for other programs to use against us in future recruiting as has already been pointed out. The best thing we can do for the program is to accept whatever bid comes our way and continue to be the best fanbase in college basketball. Fill the arenas with blue and hope we win. If we lose its over and we have still supported our team and added revenue to the AD coffers for coming seasons. If we win then its a good thing no matter the tournament.

It is all speculation from the Talking Heads at this point. Everyone touting potential brackets is only speculating. This includes Joey Brackets. Sunday will tell the tale. Everyone is in a hurry to jump ship. Given the season, I understand. Maybe if playing for your season to continue isnt enough; maybe redemption is.
March 16th, 2013 at 10:23 am
Just get this misreable season over with. This team has not a clue of how to play as a team. I just wish they knew how to make free throws.
March 16th, 2013 at 10:47 am
Jeff Goodman should marry Pat Forde as they are equally pathetic.

Absolutely NO to NIT! Worst group of UK players I have witnessed in my over 55 year of being a big blue crazy. There is no I in team and this group had a couple of cancerous players that destroyed the locker room and ultimately broke the heart of BBN. The fan base gives so much emotional energy and financial capital to this program it is unconscionable that we could be asked to invest more this season. I wonder if this will impact Randell decision next week? Any and all recruits have to be embarrassed beyond belief.
March 16th, 2013 at 11:20 am
if we don’t make the biggen then i hope we decline the nit. i know we wouldn’t do that because of $$, but i don’t see any other purpose. i don’t think the players would want to play in it, especially the 3(?) who are going pro, and would guess most fans don’t want it either.
March 16th, 2013 at 11:40 am
We need to play in the NIT if for no other reason but potential wins. Kansas is getting too close to us in total wins.
March 16th, 2013 at 12:23 pm
Im just ready to end the season tired of watchn this team. #45 you need to take your loser ass over to the lville bandwagon! They been waiting decades to accomplish what we did last year
March 16th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
Meet with the guys, if they want to continue to play, go to the NIT, if they don’t. End it. Mercy kill.
March 16th, 2013 at 4:14 pm
1. Cal can’t coach
2. Our team is full of prima-donnas
3. UofL is really good this year
4. WKU is dancing and we are not
5. Cal can’t coach
March 17th, 2013 at 12:36 am
Shouldn’t go to the NIT. Take the video games and the headsets during basketball season and maybe the players would get the message and concentrate on the job at hand.
