Don’t worry, Vandy is as awkward as ever.
Tomorrow night, the Cats will face Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament. The ‘Dores just beat Arkansas in what may have been one of the more frustratingly bad SEC games ever. For the first 30 minutes of the game, Vandy was well in control, hitting it form the outside and having their way with the Razorbacks. Kedren Johnson left the game momentarily with a shoulder injury, but returned. In the last five minutes, Arkansas found a new life and tried to make a game of it before falling 75-72.
After the game, Stallings said this about his squad’s chances against the Cats: “Well, they’re a very good team, and I kind of laugh at all of this bubble talk with them. I haven’t studied them much, but they look like a NCAA Tournament team to me. …I’m sure tomorrow will be very competitive.”
Kentucky is 2-0 vs. the ‘Dores this season, but as we all know, it’s hard to beat a team three times, especially when it’s Vandy and especially in the SEC Tournament. However, neither Vandy nor Arkansas looked impressive tonight, and if the Kentucky team that beat Florida comes out to play, they should handle them easily. If not…well, we’ll get there when we get there.
Go Cats.

You nailed it, Ms T. Terrible game! Both teams sucked the place up.

I think Madison Central could have beat either team tonight. Not a stretch.

And cue the whining from Stallings about UK not having to play a game tonight…
March 14th, 2013 at 10:11 pm
On a side note… It kinda boggles the mind how bad the pigs are outside of bud walton arena. Someone correct me, but that dates back to like when Pelphrey was there to if I remember correctly.
Anyway…

What are tickets going for?

UK should handle Vandy if they play focused and confident. This game tonight just looked downright bad. Both teams look pretty unfocused and Vandy could only make threes. Lessgo Cats!

It sounds like Stallings is trying to get the UK players to think they don’t need to beat Vandy, they do. Cal should show the UK team the intro video they used for the last home game before the rest of their games.

10, that’s certainly….shall we say, different.

Would have rather played Arkansas. I feel confidently about our cats chances against either team, but the hogs are just horrible away from Bud Walton. They will be a contender in the SEC next year. It’ll be close tomorrow. Cats by 11. Free throws late

I would love a blow-out tomorrow, but I will take a 1pt victory.

7)That is exactly what I was coming on here to say. Stallings thinks that UK players will read that and not play with the one and done mentality that they need to be playing with tomorrow night. With Goodwin making the comment after that Florida game that “they better let us in” does not sound like some of the players believe we have to win this game to be in. If we lose we are NIT bound. Write it down.
March 14th, 2013 at 10:55 pm
I’m goofy…write it down!
March 14th, 2013 at 11:04 pm
I would rather have faced Hogs than C’dores, but I expected V to win tonight. I think we win over either opponent, but as usual for this season nothing will be easy. Hope our team’s feeling good tomorrow. All you fans and KSR writers, enjoy Nashville and get back home safe. Thanks for the post MTT. GO CATS!

What happened to Matt,Drew,and Tyler?
March 15th, 2013 at 12:14 am
Should handle them easily….Yea right. We should have handled Tex AM, Baylor, UGA and Bama easily as well. I agree both teams sucked but these are same teams that A. Beat us while they played poorly….see Ark and B. we barely beat twice including one time with Nerlens playing. I take nothing as easy with this group.

I trust the Vegas boys
But they have been wrong
All season

Ugly game. Glad Vandy hung on after that furious foul fest rally by Arkansas. I doubt Vandy will miss that many shots tonight. Go Cats!
March 15th, 2013 at 7:39 am
Kentucky’s worst fear has come true…you know the old saying : “it’s tough to beat a good team thrice in one year” !…..oh wait, Vandy is NOT a GOOD team !! LOL
March 15th, 2013 at 7:41 am
Dude looks like he’s saying “Don’t touch me! I’m telling Mom!”
Expect Vandy to be hyped tonight and bringing their A-game. This is survival mode for them, and they want to be able to hang their hats on knocking off the defending national champs. Also, even if Vandy’s fans didn’t show up for this game, since they won a lot of them will be coming out of the woodwork and snapping up left over tickets. I still expect BBN to outnumber them, but there will be enough of them there to make some noise if Vandy gets on a run. It will be UK’s job to snuff any such runs early to prevent them from getting a lot of confidence, much like they did when we played them in Nashville.

9: So far no SEC coverage on Directv, BUT they have just about every other tournament on. That is crazy. Rumor has it UK game will be on Wave 3 tonight. I’ll believe it when I see it.
