I think just about everyone feels the way this guy does. Kentucky showed no life for the first 30 minutes, but hung around just enough to hold out hope for a while. After building a lead of 10 points, Georgia let Kentucky get back into the game with a couple of turnovers and wild shots. A Kyle Wiltjer three-point shot capped off a 7-0 run that brought the Cats within 3 points with just under 7:00 to go, but that run was followed by a 12-0 Georgia run which was simply too much to overcome. We’ll have plenty more to follow.

Ya’ll see Cal laughing at the end of the game. Cal gets it. He knows the season is all about draft night. He knows Noel, Poythree, Cauley-Stein and maybe another kid or two will be playing for money next season – and that’s what COLLEGE basketball is all about. Remember – Players First.

Gave call a pass until tonight. This team was not prepared to play tonight in any way, shape, or form. It was a must win against an inferior opponent. He is paid VERY well to win games like this, or at least have the team ready to compete. Inexcusable.

I really hope WCS comes back next year. We could use the depth at the 5 and he Is the only player who has gotten any better since the start of the season. Wiltjer Is In danger of being the next Jon Hood. Harrow will be back but he hasnt gotten much better and wont play much next year. Archie hasnt gotten any better at all, he needs to go, he also wont play much If he stays. Poythress will get out hustled by everyone so he might as well go as well. One thing Is for sure, If Poythress comes back he better be ready to go or he will not see the floor next year.

We’re just a really bad team. We don’t deserve to be in the tournament. I really hope at the end of the year, many of these players leave for the nba. I think next years class will be great, and if we clear up some scholarships we will have room to possibly get one if not two of the big 3. If we don’t have players leave, then I think transfers, walk ons and cuts should be recommended to make room for the new class. This year’s team just wasn’t the right mix and they haven’t meshed well. Here’s for a better next year!

Horrible “fan” comments generally. I think they are trying, but unfortunately, they just aren’t talented or experienced enough as mostly FRESHMAN to do much better. They frustrate the heck out of me too. But they chose to come to UK and they have my respect for winning as many games as they have. Losing Nerlens was just too much. These are young kids being criticized by adults who haven’t – for the most part – played any competitive bb since junior high! They are trying but it is just overwhelming in my opinion to transition from high school adulation to the pressure cooker of UK. Give them a break – and some respect if not love.

Poythress needs to stay for 4 years honestly. Goodwin I want to come back, atleast he tries. Harrow is just frustrating and Kyle wijlter needs better guard play to be effective at all. What a disappointing season I did not see this coming at all. I don’t hate this team because they are good kids, it’s just they get rattled just from the other team scoring. The main problem with this team is the point guard play. Harrow just isn’t physical or confident enough and he doesn’t have any court vision. GOD IM GONNA MISS NERLENS.

I have been watching or listening to UK basketball for over 60 years and I must say that this is the worst team that I have seen take the floor in a long time. They just seem to be overwhelmed when on the floor. They play with a lack of spirt,defense and hustle. They do not seem to have any flow or rythem out on the floor. What happened to the pride and love of putting on the most beloved uniform in college sports? I will continue to root for them because I am and forever will be a Kentucky fan. The big thing is with this team their is defintly an I in it.

UK needs to turn this team over 100% at end of season. Poythress needs to be arrested for impersonating a 5* BB player and should have LOSER on front of jersey…the uncle has turned out to be a debaucle as well….Wusstjer will hopefully return to Portland…Goodwin will take a “how to play under control” course…and Harrow will continue to be the shrinking violet that he has been all year. Willie double-doubled again, did his job. Archie has gotten it and shown intensity. Ryan had spurts. Where was Alex? Julius got shut down by bigger guards. Hood contributed.
What’s wrong with this team is with the exception of Willie it DOES NOT DO ANY OF THE LITTLE THINGS YOU HAVE TO DO TO WIN. None. Blockouts, tips, charges, stopping the driver, hitting free throws…If it wasn’t UK and you didn’t get the other teams’ best shots very night they’d have 4-5 more wins, but they are UK.

I am the always-hopeful, always-positive super-fan, but this team is awful. Offensive troubles are understandable, but the lack of defense and effort this year are unexcusable! Lets keep our heads up for next year- unless our commits decide to go elsewhere. And, lets not forget the last 3 yrs. Go Cats 2013-14

Goodwin and Cauley stein are the two last hopes of this team and hopefully they’ll return. Alex needs a couple years and its mainly because of his mindset and inexperience. What is the most frustrating part of this team is that they honestly looked 20 times better at the beginning of the year.. Poythress was dominating, Goodwin was considered one of the top freshmen and we were playing teams like duke and louisville closely. I thought at the time “well it’s early and they’re inexperienced, just wait till match”. That is not the case whatsoever.

As for Cal, at the start of halves this team has played well, usually comes out and gets a lead and then his coaching wears off, and the other team shoots ahead. You can’t call it a great coaching job, obviously, but he hasn’t stopped trying. There will be some shakeup barring a major change Sat. and in the SEC tourney, and it won’t be the coaching staff.

In all honesty, I don’t give this team much shot at a deep run in the NIT. It just doesn’t seem like they care much…

I said before the season started that Wiltjer was the key to the season. He has been a major disappointment. The other guys have not done anything spectacular either but Wiltjer has not done anything beyond a couple of games.

I have learned in life it is hard to help someone when you care more about them and their situation than they do. This team of young men have had a whole season to adapt to the big stage which is what they want or else they would be playing at western or murry instead of uk. If the pressure is too much for them they shouldnt have been recruited for ky. Thats on Cal. He is supposed to be able to read these young men and no matter how good they are in hs he is the one to determine if they can be that good or better in college. This team just dont care. They are here to put their time in, get drafted and get a check. They dont seem to understand the way they play will effect their position in the draft. As I said earlier its hard to care more than they do. With that said, I am done with this team. I have not given up, I have not turned my back. I am simply caring to the same degree as the players are. That would be, lets get this season out of the way so I can get on with whats really important to me. All people may not be able to verbalize it the best, but our fans have turned on this team because of their attitude and lack of heart, desire, and pride. They lack effort. We could take a bad team, or an inexperienced team, that TRIED and FOUGHT. That is the difference. These guys don’t deserve to wear that “Kentucky” across their chest. I’ll take Polson all day, hustling and losing games, than Poythress out there mailing it in.

NIT game in Lex… By the Way Cal, I am glad you could find a way to Laugh at the end of the game. Making $3.5 million a year, I could laugh as well. You should be able to recruit 12-13 studs who can play. Just having 5-6 guys gives no room for error. Our bench is a high school team. This has to change. We need 12-13 scholarship basketball players, not a half dozen. At times tonight, we had 4 white guys in the game playing significant minutes. Rupp would have been proud. That was back in the days. That is not going to win in this era. Frustrating.

They will miss the majority of their free throws
In the end, they will shake the hand of the team that just showed them their ass and they are OK with it

Cal may strike out every now and then, but everyone better suck it up unless you want to go back to being an 8 seed every 3 years in the dance. He gets the top talent and if you haven’t noticed you can’t win it all without it. BCG got Patterson just because he was already coming. And other than that who did he get?? Derrick jasper. And what happened to him?? Tubby won with Pitino’s team everyone knows that. So lets all suck it up and move to next year. If a few of these players stay then we will have an even better chance of a championship. Either way we are in the talk for he championship even if no one stays. So who is to thank for that?? Coach Cal. We have the perfect coach for UK and while his type of play is basically street ball he is the best recruiter in the nation. If you get the best talent then talent will prevail. Next year everyone will see. Even if we don’t win it all we will be a great team. So don’t act like your pride in this program didn’t grow when cal came in with John wall. I’m proud to bleed blue and I know everyone else in here is too. So lets just chalk this one up and get ready for next year. Go Big Blue!!!!!!

Cal has brought UK an ELITE 8, FINAL 4, and a NATIONAL TITLE in 3 years. Not to mention made dreams come true more than any other college coach in the last 3 years. He’s raised money for charity’s and relief funds, and he wears the UK colors proudly! 1 down year (college basketball as a whole is awful this year) is not a bad thing. It brings us true fans back to reality. I love how all these other fans hate on us because we are the alpha and the omega, the Goliath vs. David. Facts are that we as UK are still the greatest tradition/program in college basketball and Coach Cal is doin it for us. EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT HATERS!

I couldn’t even watch the last 5 minutes of the game and I’ve never given up on any game before. This team does not show the will to win and I think they’re as ready for this season to be over as the fans. It can’t be April 9th soon enough so this season can be over and we can look forward to next. I don’t think this season would feel so disappointing if our team was at least giving their best every time out on the floor.

Cal has said that if he wins a championship and no one gets drafted, it would be a disappointment. 150 ha we got beat by baylor, texas am, and alabama with nerlens. All teams which arnt very good. And with nerlens we were still giving up a god awful amount of second chance points with him. Now im not bashing nerlens he is a very good player but we were still not a good team

Not throwing the team or coach under the bus. However, it was evident minutes into the game there was a definite lack of effort. At this point in the season with so much at stake to not bring your “A” game. Too many of the same mistakes being made this far into the season. We all were not surprised when BCG’s 2nd team did mot make the big dance. If they miss out this year- it will be a big time disappointed. When does football start. Never though I would say this in early March.

#28 people! #28 says it all. The field is so weak that if UK beats Florida they’re in. 21-10 with no bad losses, a win over a top 10ish team late in the season, finishing 2nd in your conference and the fact that your team will bring more money to the tourney city equals UK gets in with a win on Saturday. And I think deep down UK knew they still had one more chance to make the tourney. Problem is if they’re not up for the Ark or Ga game then they don’t deserve the NCAA tourney.

Maybe Wiltjer needs to do another Rap Video and post online. Remember those ones during the summer that we all laughed at during the summer on KSR. I wished he had been in the gym shooting and running. This team thought they were good from the start and have not bought into hustle, teamwork and brotherhood. Remember Cal can’t make these kids play with pride and give great effort. It’s up to them. They’ll realize that they ruined an opportunity of a lifetime one day. Basically pointing at Poythress. All the God given talent in the world and the drive of a person that has given up before they even get to the challenge. I hate it for him, because I thought a kid that worked at Wendy’s would want more for himself than to flip burgers. I still support Kentucky. I dont hate this team, I dont hate these players. I wont bail on them because of some bad games. The chemistry isnt there with this team, but they are still Kentucky and I still bleed blue. I cant believe the comments by some of you. Go cheer on another team if this is your attitude when they’re down. They need our support now more than ever. We’re basically comprised of rookies and they’re struggling out there for various reasons, I still think they’re capable and will always wish the best for them. Guys things are going according to plan, right? Archie, Nerlens, Willie and Alex are all still projected in the 1st round of the draft, right? This is a players first university. We shouldn’t be complaining about the performances, we should be celebrating changing these young men’s lives. As long as they get paid,we should pat ourselves on our backs. We play for the name on the back of the jersey, not the front. We pay Cal a boatload of money to bring in the top players, provide top of the line facilites, let them do their thing without me getting in the way by coaching, rinse and repeat. Guys/Gals- no bigger UK fan here. I am heading to Nashville and I am a big fan of Cal. I do blame Cal and the coaches for our troubles this year. They are tentative and they warm up that way. They warm up before the game as individuals. No high fives, no encouraging other team mates, no running on the floor. No energy. They cannot shoot foul shots and can you tell me how many plays we’re called tonight. I can only remember the first one which was a call to go inside to Willie. We just throw the ball around the circle and shoot. Who’s fault is all of this. You are right, we have one in the past. What we are doing this year is not working. You can’t compare this team with the 2011 team. They had Brandon Knight (who is having a better pro career than Wall). We have no leader, especially in the backcourt. Plus they had hard nose defenders and scrapers lke Liggons and Jorts. We had a great shot blocker until he got hurt and some average talent.

As much as I enjoy reading KSR articles and listening to the radio show, I am equally disappointed by some of the posts that folks place hear. I agree with most of us that this has been one of the most frustrating teams to watch, but I will never as a UK Fan write a post that personally attacks or makes fun of a player. It is ugly to know that so many so called members of the BBN can so easily attack 18 to 20 year olds fresh out of high school. Make a comment, but keep it general to the play of the team. I can only hope that our current players and the kids we’re recruiting don’t read these blogs, as it casts a shadow on some UK fans when the team struggles. Will follow and support this team til the end…as tough as it is at times… Go Cats!

Something seriously wrong with this team…..personalities, chemistry, or uncoachable….they just do not play to win …..I have not seen one of them get into defensive position on the ball….they stand straight up….the offense looks worse every game….we looked better against Duke than we do now….was this team over exposed to early?…..this team plays hard against good teams…Duke, Louisville, Missouri, Ole Miss….but just mails it in against teams they should beat…hard to watch.

Meeks54…you make no sense. I agree we have had success the past years. I had a great time in Houston and last year in New Orleans. Was hoping to have a great time in Atlanta as well. My point is the past and it is Cal’s job to mAke it happen. This year it has not happened. Don’t get pissy with me about that. He is responsible and I don’t agree with how he has handled the team this year. He is a great coach, this year not do much. I get evaluated every year at my job and they sure in the hell don’t look at the previous years results when I get my review score and bonus. my point is Cal has to change some things and learn from his mistakes this year. I did not enjoy seeing him laugh it up at the end of the game. He shows he has given up in this team. Put the bench in and let them play. Hood should have started the second half. He played with more energy. No, we play the ones who continue to show no energy and blaming everyone else. How about we all be accountable for actions this ball year.

If these guys cant score against Tennessee, Georgia and Texas AM, how in the he_l can they score against the Lakers, the Spurs and the Pacers.
The only UK player who can play in the NBA next year and actually see the court in Noel. The rest play with the intensity of someone who simply is buying their time. I have never been so disappointed in a team in my life. Losing is one thing, losing with no effort is another. I think we need more Kentucky kids and fewer pople who care about their last name.

Agree with you 225, along with Noel’s injury, no veteran leadership to bring them back to reality after the ALL ACCESS hype, lack of consistent team effort…the list goes on and on…been one heck of a roller coaster ride as a fan this year.

Poythress needs to stay, he reminds me a little of Terrance. Jone’s second year solidified him. I honestly think, with the one’s coming in , we have better practices and Poythress will blossum. I haven’t given up on him.

Give me four three and four star recruits to go along with a five star point guard any day (the one exception being next years team.) The point guard will lead and bring the others along. The three and four star players have everything to prove, whereas the five star players just go through the motions. One way to eliminate what we’ve seen this year is to either allow the high school players to go straight to the NBA, or require them to stay at least two years in college.
