Ready for your daily IULOL? Last night, Indiana celebrated its Senior Night by cutting down the nets…after losing to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes really spoiled Indiana’s plans to celebrate winning the regular season Big 10 Championship. After Ohio State beat Indiana by nine, the Hoosiers had a trophy presentation, received Big 10 Championship hats, and cut down the nets to commemorate what was now at least a share of the title. And no, to them that didn’t seem at the least bit odd:
Jordan Hulls: “We earned that right. Obviously we didn’t like to lose, but we earned the right to cut down the nuts.”
Tom Crean: “There’s no question we were going to do that. We’re gonna hang our own banner up there, and eventually we’re gonna individualize those banners that are up there now. That’s what we’re gonna do in this program. … Once Sunday night came, that was a given. Whether it’s shared, whether it’s not shared, they’ve earned that.”
In addition, the program’s seniors — Derek Elston, Jordan Hulls and Christian Watford — waited until after the game to go through their Senior Day ceremony, which included speeches to a disappointed Hoosier crowd.
Big 10 (Co-)Champions popcorn boxes and replica rings are currently being manufactured to further commemorate the occasion.

No. No! Is there no end to how inappropriate, on many different levels, IU’s celebration’s are?
March 6th, 2013 at 8:16 am
Cutting down the nuts seems like an odd way to celebrate to me.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:21 am
Just look at all the fans in the stands that stuck around to share in this momentous occasion… it almost brings a tear to one’s eye.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:22 am
Brings a smile to my face.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:26 am
BOO-HOO-HOO-SIERS!!!!!!!!! What a joke of a program.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:27 am
Oh that’s HILARIOUS…..Where’s Hoo Hoo Hoosier at….Hell with IU losing on senior night on their own court should make him feel right at home!!!!!!BWAAAAAAAAA
March 6th, 2013 at 8:27 am
Once you cut off the nuts there is no coming back.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:27 am
After reading this, my work desk/monitor has coffee everywhere….
March 6th, 2013 at 8:29 am
Cutting down nets are reserved for one thing. Well two. Final four and Championship. It makes you look worse than you are. STOP
March 6th, 2013 at 8:30 am
Boy thats a first class basketball program. BAHAHAHAHA!! WHAT A JOKE!! That will be the only nets they will be cutting down! Now the best team in the country can’t win at home or on the road! Makes me PROUD everyday of the coach we have! Crean is a joke! IN CAL WE TRUST!! GO CATS!!
March 6th, 2013 at 8:32 am
cutting down the nets after a lost??? only Indiana would do that.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:32 am
Who the hell cuts down nets for the regular season? They can’t possibly be that starved for positivity
March 6th, 2013 at 8:35 am
Which is more embarrasing, the celebration after the loss or Crean’s rather vociferous defense of the celebration? And honoring the seniors after the game, well that is just stupid.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:35 am
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I would pull for Pitino and the Cards against those losers. Duke???…I would refuse to watch.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:42 am
jesus. when did IU go full retard?
March 6th, 2013 at 8:43 am
Court storming, ring making, net cutting, red blob painting losers.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:43 am
When’s the last time UK cut down the nets after an SEC regular season title?
March 6th, 2013 at 8:44 am
This is why no one respects IU, they have 5 national championships but act like a mid major school. I dislike IU more than Duke, UofL, UCLA, UNC, ect.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:45 am
I can’t wait until those a-holes get bounced from the tournament. I don’t care if Crean is afriend of Cals,I can’t stand the guy.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:45 am
senior celebration After the game? sounds like they were a bit over confident that they would beat tosu and all the loosier faithful (who are not evident in the pic) would hang around to celebrate their conf title. that picture is great
March 6th, 2013 at 8:46 am
George Mason says “Act like u have been there before”.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:48 am
I could see if they tie for the Big 10 title putting up a banner since they have won 1 in 20 years, but cutting down the nets after losing your last home game is weird. IU is 10-4 their last 14 games. So, that may be the only nets they get.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:49 am
18. That’s what they are. They’ve been a mid major going on 25 yrs. Kudos to them for looking in the mirror and realizing they’re Nothing more than VCU with a more recognizable name.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:50 am
Why did they let the IU FFA chapter in to watch on the court?
March 6th, 2013 at 8:50 am
17–When is the last time we hung a banner for an SEC regular season title? If we did that, we could paper the walls of Rupp.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:52 am
17) there would be a national net shortage if UK did that
March 6th, 2013 at 8:52 am
That was a eunuck celebration.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:53 am
Starving for attention like a little kid.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:54 am
Did IU do their Loo Loo Loosers cheer also?
March 6th, 2013 at 8:55 am
I’m surprised they didn’t cut down the nets after they lost in the Sweet Sixteen last year.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:55 am
I’m glad Indiana’s basketball program has become so mediocre….at everything.
March 6th, 2013 at 8:59 am
SMH…X2!
March 6th, 2013 at 9:00 am
Can’t wait until the commerative popcorn box comes out.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:02 am
I think I saw 3 people rush the court!
March 6th, 2013 at 9:02 am
what a bunch of douches!
March 6th, 2013 at 9:03 am
The link left out a few things. You forgot to mention IU getting their participation trophies for the 2012-2013 College Basketball Season. They also went out for a pizza afterwards though Hulls was a little disappointed, he though it would be snow cones(he was going get grape though cherry is good too).
March 6th, 2013 at 9:05 am
I think they cut down the nets after Tom Crean’s brother-in-law won the Super Bowl. Of course they did it the weekend before the Super Bowl because it was better than 50% chance they wouldn’t be wrong. Wink.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:06 am
After this crop of players is gone, and IU goes back to their losing tradition, I guess they’ll be hanging little green “participation” ribbons from the rafters after every loss, and having cupcakes and punch in the locker room.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:09 am
My God, this program is so desperate for recognition that they are making themselves look pathetic. Laughable
March 6th, 2013 at 9:10 am
@ 15 … “jesus. when did IU go full retard?”
I believe it was around this time….

March 6th, 2013 at 9:11 am
puts the IU in ridiculous
March 6th, 2013 at 9:11 am
Ring Pops and Fun Dip for everybody! Ok, but did he really say “nuts”?
March 6th, 2013 at 9:16 am
@ 42… He might not have said it, but you can bet that’s what was on his mind.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:18 am
Creen probally cuts down the nets every time his wife has a orgasism.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:22 am
44) I’ve never cut down that net.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:22 am
44, that’s why that basketball goal in their driveway is the original one….He’s owned that one since they’ve been married
March 6th, 2013 at 9:22 am
#44 BAHAHAHA.
I seriously don’t mind this. Were trying to send off Hulls and Oladipo and start a tradition of letting the seniors have part of the nets they played on for four years? I don’t see a problem.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:24 am
This has to be a joke. What a disgrace to a once proud program.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:31 am
Jordan Hulls loves to cut those nuts.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:32 am
Sounds like IU had a “Stuart Smalley” moment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVXISlYbeTE
March 6th, 2013 at 9:40 am
You stay classy Indiana. Even if Tom Creen smells like Sex Panther cologne.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:44 am
Let’s be honest, anybody but IU, KU, UNC, Duke, UCLA, Florida and UofL winning the title. If not us, go Miami and Gonzaga.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:51 am
Why do we waste our time following Indiana basketball and posting their stories? I could give 2 shits for anything IU related. Please stick to KY related topics. Anyone else feel this way?
March 6th, 2013 at 9:52 am
Not sure if it’s UL or IU who wins the propaganda award; both of these programs are good at keeping their delusional fans in a state of delusion.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:52 am
This is a program that wouldn’t recognize what is appropriate if appropriate walked up to it on the street and said “Hello, I’m appropriate, nice to meet you”
March 6th, 2013 at 9:53 am
If not us, go ZAGS or Michigan State. I really like Mark Few and Tom Izzo.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:53 am
iu is about as dull as john short
March 6th, 2013 at 9:55 am
40, he looks a lot like Zeller in that picture! #quasimodo
LOL – you just can’t make this stuff up! Comedy gold!
March 6th, 2013 at 9:57 am
These boys aren’t going to have enough fingers for all the rings IU will give them… Big 10 Co-champions ring, Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals ring, Beat the Number One team in December 2011 Ring, 2012 Sweet 16 Ring, IU Basketball Participation Ring, Only Team in NCAA With a Player Who’s Name means to Masturbate Ring…and so on….
March 6th, 2013 at 10:04 am
I never thought I’d say this but I believe I would actually pull for UofL or even DUKE to win the title this year over IU. I dislike those programs as much as everyone else but atleast UofL has a couple players who deserve to be in the title game and if DUKE won it at least they would act like they have been there before. If IU wins it the rest of the world will have to hear about it for the next 30 years…That fan base “and coach & team” have become more annoying than any team in recent history. Think about it, the only SEC team to win it all “other than UK” in recent times was Florida, in all reality we didn’t have to hear about it THAT much when they won it and they are in our league…When KU, UNC or DUKE wins it all it doesn’t blow back on us that much to where they rub it in our face for years, why? because they are not SEC teams and they have a little pride…If IU wins it all this year we will hear about it for ever!!! They will act like it’s something UK has never done before…IU is the most classless attention whores in the NCAA.
March 6th, 2013 at 10:04 am
At least we know what to expect when they lose in the NCAA’s.
March 6th, 2013 at 10:05 am
We should all thank IU for making it SOOOOOO easy to make fun of them! Keep the ammunition coming, guys
March 6th, 2013 at 10:08 am
Hey IU, what’s it like to be constant punchline?
March 6th, 2013 at 10:09 am
This is what Crean wanted when they beat us last year. To make them relevant on a national stage he had to get under Kentucky’s skin to create a rivalry vibe that really doesn’t exist. Why would he do that? Hmmm. It gives them a false sense of accomplishment and also puts their name in the discussion since they were so irrelevant. Now everytime we talk about IU like we care, he wins. Until they actually win something, they’re no better than Butler to me. Same for all this Big 10 love. 1 championship since 1990. When the conference wins something I’ll buy in that they’re the best conference. Plus there is no rivalry with IU yet as we have dominated the series over the past quarter century. It will take time, not words on their part to create a rivaly that may have existed in the 80s
March 6th, 2013 at 10:12 am
No question I would root for UofL and Duke or anyone for that matter over Indiana.. Living in Southern Indiana this year has been a living nightmare. IU fans are the most ignorant people.
March 6th, 2013 at 10:15 am
Yeap, gone full Retard, dats what dem boys have gone and dun!!! Tom Crean!!!!, what a damn joke!!!!
March 6th, 2013 at 10:18 am
Has IU forgotten that they are a top 5 program?? This is completely rediculous, I know there program has come on some hard times over the past 5 years, but cutting down the nets for a regular season Big 10 championship??? Joke!!
March 6th, 2013 at 10:18 am
Listened to Mike and Mike this morning (I know, gag), but they talked about this a lot. Greeny said he didn’t like it, while Golek defended it. One of their reporters, who happens to be a huge IU fan, admitted she turned it off after the loss, but later regretted it. There you go IU, even your BIGGEST fans were turning it off. Time to find a better solution. But cutting the nets down doesn’t make any sense. The nets signify having a remembrance of that particular game. It just doesn’t make sense.
March 6th, 2013 at 10:18 am
It’s funny how IU and Crean celebrates everything they do. Win or lose they want to hang up banners, popcorn boxes, game ball after beating Kentucky. No other IU team has hung a banner they are added to the banner already hanging, but no Crean wants his own. Funny. They will be selling T-shirts today with a net on them saying we lost the game but we have the nets!
March 6th, 2013 at 10:27 am
69, are you sure there won’t be a nutsac on that T-shirt?
March 6th, 2013 at 10:27 am
You UK fans are jealous because we have been relevent this year and you have not!! I want UK and U of L in our NCAA bracket in the worst possible way!! IU Players are all fine outstanding young men full of intelligence and integrity. UK and U of L players are morons, rednecks, or thugs who can’t put an intelligent sentence together to save their lives.
We will destroy both teams just by the fact that our guys are superior human beings!! The entire state of Kentucky has the collective IQ of a rock!!!
March 6th, 2013 at 10:29 am
#69, You joke, but I do look for a banner in the Assembly Hall rafters signifying “Best Popcorn in the Big 10, Leaders Division, 2102 – 13″
March 6th, 2013 at 10:34 am
Butler says act like you’ve been there before. You know, the program in your state that beat you this year and has more success this century than you.
March 6th, 2013 at 10:36 am
or 2012
March 6th, 2013 at 10:43 am
So let me get this straight
LAst year: phone book cover of the shot, popcorn bucket of the shot, display case of the shot, rings for beating #1 UK and losing in the sweet 16
This year: trophy, cutting down the nets, hats for winning a SHARE of the big ten regular season title.
By golly I do believe Indiana has done more celebrating for winning nothing than Kentucky did for winning the national championship!
March 6th, 2013 at 10:56 am
Folks relax, we needed to hang another banner, the one from ’87 is tattered and smells like moth balls.
March 6th, 2013 at 11:04 am
Now ain’t that cute. Next thing you know they will be wantng to NOT keep score. You know, that way there are no losers in life.
March 6th, 2013 at 11:10 am
Wow. They traded in the candy striper pants for matching khakis and bowling shoes. Can it get any more lame?
March 6th, 2013 at 11:40 am
The players should have refused, this is embarrassing.
March 6th, 2013 at 12:05 pm
Mr. creaM and IU are Pathetic. He probaly celebrates when he and hiw wife …You know.. But I beat she isn’t wearing the shirt though
March 6th, 2013 at 12:06 pm
why not put up banners for +.500 winning seasons…B1G tournament runner-ups…regular season win against UK…fill the rafters!
March 6th, 2013 at 12:20 pm
15. You never go full retard!
March 6th, 2013 at 12:20 pm
Hey # 71 IU FAN, You call U of L and UK Players “morons, rednecks and thugs”, but correct me if im wrong, I do NOT recall either school’s players ever cutting down the nets after LOSING a game!!! Now, who looks like MORONS??
I swear IU Fans are the worse!!
March 6th, 2013 at 12:22 pm
Can we cut the nets down and hang a banner if we finish 2nd in SEC? OBetter yet, maybe have a Brian Long bobble head night fothe first SEC tourney game?
March 6th, 2013 at 12:35 pm
#34, no, those were the ladder men rushing the court.
Is it true that during a game timeout they had the net cutting ladder carriers form the I?
March 6th, 2013 at 1:23 pm
Anyone else think Mrs TT is a brown-nosing, material stealing suck-up, who enjoys moderating a members-only club in the comments and the live blogs?
March 6th, 2013 at 1:25 pm
86- What is your problem? Did I diss you in high school or something?
March 6th, 2013 at 1:31 pm
I guess all of you Kentucky fans forget that UK retired the jerseys of The Unforgettables. They never won an outright regular season SEC title or an NCAA championship. They were simply celebrated for bringing UK back from a dark period in its history, the same thing that IU’s players are now being celebrated for doing.
March 6th, 2013 at 1:32 pm
Hey #71 IU Fan… IS THAT ASS HURT!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHA! *large gasp of air* HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!
March 6th, 2013 at 1:42 pm
TT – haters gonna hate! Don’t even pay attention to the nonsense. Some are intimidated by a nice looking female that knows sports and has the intelligence to verbally spar with any man. So chalk it up to hate, intimidation, and jealousy. FranktheTank says you can roll with his army anytime!
March 6th, 2013 at 1:44 pm
88. It was at least the end of the season. And we knew where they ended up at the end of the year. If IU flames out in the round of 32, these celebrations will look silly.
And besides, that was their excuse for all the celebrations LAST year. How many more times are they going to celebrate being brought out of a dark period? We retired their jerseys and left it at that. They keep looking for ways to celebrate being brought out of a dark time. Will they create a state holiday for it next year, celebrating being B1G runners up after a “dark period?”
March 6th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
Sorry TT, I meant 89.
March 6th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
I guess when I need a good laugh Hoosiers never seem to let me down.
March 6th, 2013 at 1:57 pm
By the reasoning on this board, the unforgettables accomplishments were not worthy of celebration, yet they are permanently celebrated. Can you not see the hipocrisy? By the way, Indiana will at the very least share the Big Ten regular season title, they cannot be runner-up.
March 6th, 2013 at 2:03 pm
As an IU fan I would rather not have had them cut down the nets for commemoration purposes, although I get why they felt they wanted to do it as a group. To those who want to give the program grief for having their senior night after the game here’s an fyi…it’s always been that way not just last night.
As my girlfriend is a UK grad she enjoys coming to this site for her UK sports news. As an IU grad I enjoy going to InsideTheHall. My girlfriend recently pointed out to me that the posters on here are so much more vile towards IU fans than IU fans are towards UK fans. I point to all the name calling and vile things said towards IU on this post as proof alone. And IU has had nothing to do with UK this season! I can only laugh when she says she’s embarrassed by the comments by UK fans. In your own words, “Act like you’ve been there before”.
March 6th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
Why does anyone seem suprised at this? For such a long time IU has had nothing to celebrate so they started celebrating everything……including moral victories. When they beat my beloved Wildcats last year on their home court, they rushed the floor. When such a thing happens at Rupp, as it often does, the court remains clear. It has been done before, we are winners here and we are used to it. I expect nothing less of IU, they celebrated a monster on the bench for 30 years.
March 6th, 2013 at 2:07 pm
The Unforgettables brought the program back and went to the elite 8. If this was last year I’d understand, except for sr celebration AFTER the game. That is dumb. But IU was in the elite 8 last year and should be beyond this mid major celebration stuff. Shoot UK didn’t even cut down the nets a few years ago after winning the conference tournament. Don’t ever think they have done it during the regular season, not even when we got win #2000!!!! And Creans freeness of it makes it even worse…if possible
March 6th, 2013 at 2:10 pm
IU is really making it easy for me to hate them more than UL and thats saying something.
March 6th, 2013 at 3:05 pm
Honoring seniors after the game is a tradition at IU, regardless of the game outcome. It is nothing new. UK was mediocre for about two seasons with the unforgettables and they retired ther jerseys. IU has struggled for 10 years and we are not allowed to honor these kids? UK struggles for two years and makes their players lifelong heroes, IU struggles for 10 years and UK fans have a problem with their celebrations? I will say it again, it is hipocrisy!
March 6th, 2013 at 3:06 pm
#1 thing I’m most thankful for: I didn’t get that job in Indiana!
March 6th, 2013 at 3:22 pm
I take it up and the ass and IU will not get past the Sweet Sixteen
March 6th, 2013 at 3:30 pm
99 I think everyone just thinks it is foolish to cut down the nets after a loss on Senior night. However, if IU goes to Michigan and wins the Big10 outright, you will have the last laugh.
March 6th, 2013 at 3:53 pm
95 we really don’t care if your girlfriend is embarrassed by comments on here. We do act like we’ve been there before…when we’ve actually been there. We don’t rush the court when we beat a team in Dec, bc we’ve been there before. And we don’t cut down nets after possibly sharing the conference title bc we’ve been there before. We laugh at IU when they cut down nets for a regular season…bc we haven’t been there before.
March 6th, 2013 at 3:57 pm
also, 95 your story doesn’t make sense…how would your gf know that UK fans are more “vile” towards IU fans than IU fans are towards UK unless she’s going on IUs site? Why would she be reading an IU site? My parents raised me better than to date a Hoosier, but even if I stooped that low I would not go anywhere near my boyfriend’s team’s site (yes, I’m a female)
March 6th, 2013 at 3:59 pm
99 – I thought last years team brought you out of the struggle. Now it’s this years team? So when this team gets bounced from the tourney before the EE like last year, does that make next years team the team that brought you out of struggles? How many years can you use that excuse? And the Unforgetables went to the Elite 8, farther than your candy stripers will make it.
March 6th, 2013 at 5:14 pm
Being a diehard UK fan who now lives 30 miles North of Bloomington I can tell you that IU fans can be vile and harsh. I can’t go to the grocery store without some old man in a red sweater giving me grief over my UK sweatshirt. I usually just tell him that he doesn’t know me and to turn around and pay for his depends. In all serious all my best friends are IU fans and when I texted them this morning how embarrassing it was of IU cutting down the nets last night everyone of them(all 11 of them) agreed. IU has always celebrated senior night after the game which I don;t have any probelm with but cutting down the nets might have been the stupidest things I have seen in my 30 years of watching college B ball
March 6th, 2013 at 5:14 pm
Hoosier Nation’s girlfriend tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios.
March 6th, 2013 at 5:20 pm
I also wanted to say that I had no problem with IU fans rushing the court last year when Watford hit the shot. To me that is one of the things that makes college ball great. No matter how sick it made me. I can honestly say, even though I’m sure I will hear about it, that I wish that the Cats played in a smaller, on campus arena where the crowd is off the hook instead of the Colossal snooze fest that Rupp has become. I cant tell you how many times in the last 4-5 years even in the midst of the great teams we have had that I have heard the announcers comment on how quiet 23,000 are.
March 6th, 2013 at 6:20 pm
I’m surprised that no one has pointed out that ESPN broadcasted the senior night “festivities” on espn3.com. I guess ESPN has decided they should get it broadcasted because they’re so special, when in fact, who outside of the state of Indiana wants to watch that sad excuse for “festivities?” The fans in the arena didn’t even want to watch it.
March 6th, 2013 at 6:36 pm
@104 – is it that hard to figure out that we talk basketball together? If I must I will explain it to you. She sees what is on UK sites, including this one. I see what is on IU sites. We talk about it because we love basketball. She likes to point out all IU things that appear on this site to me. She comments to me on what people are saying in the comment section. I would do the same in pointing out UK stories on IU sites but truth be told there just aren’t any. If IU isn’t playing UK then the writers just aren’t doing stories on them. Was that so hard to figure out? The rest of your comment just proves UK wants a rivalry with IU more than IU wants one with UK. You seem to detest IU way more than IU does UK.
March 6th, 2013 at 9:15 pm
HoosierNation, I am following what you are saying, and it mostly makes perfect sense to me. The only part I don’t understand is this: If you read the IU site and your girlfriend reads the UK site, then why are you the one posting on the UK site? Shouldn’t this post here be by your girfriend and not you?
March 6th, 2013 at 9:16 pm
HoosierNation, you’ve obviously never been to Peegs…
March 7th, 2013 at 12:04 am
What’s the big deal? At least he didn’t decide to play dodgeball and wiffle ball with his players like Calapari did LMFAO . BTW the place was packed during the senior night festivities . Cutting the nets down did not happen till 1230. Quit being bitter about IU because you guys suck this year. Even with Noel. Kentucky scaredy cats. To afraid to continue the 44 year rivalry. We offered 2 neutral sites(cal wanted) and 1 at Rupp and 1 at assembly hall. It’s so obvious that he ducked us. And then you guys sign with UNC….,, gee I wonder if its because they suck to and u guys have a chance of winning. Keep it classy Uk.
March 7th, 2013 at 6:49 pm
I would assume that all of you UK fans that think it was embarrassing for IU to cut down the nets, for a championship that they did win, are embarrassed by Calipari giving Drake, a rapper who did not play for UK, a championship ring last year, right?
