You play the opposing team, right? You play to win, right? The game is just as much mental as it is physical, right? Stare him down and let him know what just happened. I love it.
Not his best but plenty wicked. Doesn’t hurt to be a little nasty on the court and Wiggins has a little streak in him so that will help him out. Intimidating!
Ok… In some of these articles on Wiggins they talk of how shy and backward he is .. And how he will go to Florida State because he hates attention and blah blah blah…. This dunk and massive stare down let me know… He does have a little swagger (as they say these days).. I think he will be a Kentucky Wildcat
The stare was a punk move! They say this kid is shy and doesn’t attention!? That’s B.S! If he doesn’t come to UK, it’s not because he doesn’t like spotlight and attention… believe that!
If he ends up at Kentucky and stares down a player like that, Doug Shows, Ted Valentine and/or Tony Greene will T him up *QUICK*! Shows, in particular, would probably give the Kentucky bench a T for good measure, too. A little swagger is all good but he’s got too much talent to let that kind of behavior get him in trouble which is exactly what’s going to happen in college.
If you dunk like that for UK you can bang your chest like King Kong for all I care…T or no T. Playing with no passion and aggression is the same thing many on hear complain about. Can’t have it both ways.
@11 – and what good would Wiggins do anybody sitting in the locker room after his second technical for “taunting”? People will argue that getting a technical foul called for staring at a player is silly but nevertheless, John Adams (the NCAA National Coordinator of Officials) instructed referees to “use preventative officiating…but also have very low tolerance for players who violate Article 1, especially when it comes to taunting, baiting, using profanity or threatening gestures towards opponents.”
Admit it, you liked it the other night when Willie got T’d up for pulling on the rim and smacking the backboard. This team more than anything needs an emotional leader and it looks like they are all coming around to it.
Who cares if he stares down some random dude in a high school game? I love how people take 3 seconds of a play and immediately make generalizations about a player. You don’t know what happened before this. Maybe the guy dunked on him. Maybe that guy was talking trash the whole time, and this was how Wiggins shut him up. That wasn’t even technical-worthy, so it clearly wasn’t an issue for people actually at the game.
I’m confused on 5 star recruit. If you can play anywhere in the country, you’re projected as the #1 Draft pick next year in the NBA draft and you don’t like media attention why do you wait until March, April or whenever to committ for next year? Sounds to me like all of the last Big 3 recruits have alot of Shabazz in them. IMO, don’t care if any of them join the BBN. We want 5 star recruits with a team attitude but don’t wanna kiss 5 star ass.
@16 – “That wasn’t even technical-worthy…” You could try arguing that to an NCAA referee as you’re getting assessed a technical but you’ll just end up with your second technical and a free trip to the locker room. Like it or not, there are rules about that kind of behavior and referees are increasingly being told to more diligently enforce them. Don’t believe me? Read “Memo from the National Coordinator – January 26, 2012″:
Love this kid’s game and would love to have him here. I don’t quite buy that he hates the spotlight though. If so, wouldn’t he quietly have chosen a school long ago? The longer he waits, the more attention he gets. He has to be aware of that, right?
18. I didn’t see any “jawing” in the video. Didn’t look like he said a word. He dunked on the guy and looked at him. I don’t think you get a T for making eye contact with an opponent.
bmt22033 has way too much time on his hands.. wow.. Just let Wiggins make his decision and it’s pretty crazy that you are this obsessed with the way a kid acted after a dunk. This is one play he stares at a player. That other guy could’ve been talking trash all game. You don’t know. Chill.

#7 I hate to say it but I think you’re right. He’s seems to be in that inexplicably foolish Royce White, Shabazz Muhammad, category.

Still think referees won’t enforce it? Ask Markel Brown how jawing after his big dunk worked out for him…
