According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Patrick Patterson has been traded to the Sacramento Kings, along with Cole Aldrich and Toney Douglas. In return, the Rockets will receive Thomas Robinson.
Patterson AND Boogie AND Chuck Hayes?? You now have a new favorite NBA team.

Thomas Robinson and what? That’s quite a bit of money for Sacramento to take on. Nice trade for both teams though.

Poor Patrick, I hate that for him! He had become a starter at Houston, now he’ll be back on the bench until he gets used to his new team, & it’s never good to be all of a sudden uprooted & have to move. Bless his heart! I do think that he’ll be a calming force for Big Cuz. Wish him the very best!

@3 Thats not as much money as you would think.

What is Houston doing with their roster? They have made some odd decisions. Why trade one of their 7 PF’s for another PF?

8 – Because, if you add more POWER forwards to your team, then you will inherently be more POWERFUL. duh

On ESPN during halftime of the Cavs/NO game, they said Houston “Gave up the poo poo platter! They gave up nothing!”
Like most UK fans, I’d take PPat over TRob any day.

They traded two PF’s for one. Now they only have four. Morris and Patterson don’t have the upside that Robinson does. It is to be determined how good Robinson is, but Houston won this trade. They got a guy that could turn into an All Star in a few years..
Robinson and Cousins were cut from the same cloth and probably weren’t going to work together. The Kings decided to try to put good character guys around Cousins. It is similar to what the Wizards did in trading Javale McGee, Nick Young, and amnestying Andray Blatche. You can only have so many guys that are malcontents. You need to surround guys like that with high character players, and we all know Patterson meets that description.
Guys like Morris and Cousins might could have blended in with a Veteran group that was winning, but they aren’t able to play to their potential along side someone young who they don’t respect and think they are better than. You have to have a hierarchy on an NBA team or you get teams like the Kings that don’t maximize their potential. Playing along Patterson will give Cousins a better chance to maximize his potential.

If you count Chandler Parsons as a PF, they have 5… And then, if you want to count Royce White as an NBA player that is 6… I don’t think Royce is ever going to play in the league though.

Weird trade, word was earlier that Rockets wanted a first round pick in any deal. This might open it up a little bit for T. Jones, but Robinson is better than him. Maybe he goes later for the pick Houston is wanting.

Why do these 2 teams stock so many power forwards?
February 20th, 2013 at 9:56 pm
#14 see #9

Good trade. The Rockets get a guy with good upside who hasn’t had the best run in SAC, and the Kings get a team-oriented guy who is not only a solid contributor but may be a big pacifying presence for the best player on their team in Cousins. Nothing but upside here, although Patterson will have to fight his way back into the starting lineup. P-Patt is essentially an insurance policy for Boogie-his part in this acquisition is Sacramento’s last effort to rein in Cousins. I’m excited to see how this works out.

KING ME !

Good point 16. I see you 9 (14). When will the KSR shop have Kings swag?
February 20th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
Hope Jones can also find him a home, this is a good move for PPat to get out of Houston they tend to change directions during the season more than they need. #9 sounds like the Rocket’s GM!

5. That would have been 9 million dollars in salary this season and they’re about to get sold. No way they take all that on without getting anything back… which is why they also sent Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt.
Anyways, I think the Rockets really like what they have in Terrence Jones and they had a redundancy of stretchier 4s who aren’t great rebounders. They also got rid of Morris and sent him to the Suns for a 2nd round pick so that seems to spell good things for Terrence, who I’ll bet is probably about to start getting some decent minutes.
Patterson is a great fit for the Kings if only because he actually has a decent mid/long range game. They really have almost no one, especially not a forward, who can do that at all and that’s probably why they took this trade. I don’t know if the Kings will start winning a lot with Patterson but I’ll bet their offense does get better when he’s on the floor.

Maybe he will help Demarcus straighten out. I just hope Bledsoe stays with the Clippers, they are extremely fun to watch.
He’s perfect, he’s perfect, he’s perfect Patterson!

This bodes well for Boogie. He will finally have two fellow Wildcats known for their leadership to help him feel more at home.

If only the Kings moved to Louisville it would be more fitting. Good luck to Kings.
