Another bracket projection has the Cats one of the first four out

by @ 11:30 am. Filed under Blue Blooded Opinions

USA Today’s Patrick Stevens updated his bracket projections this morning, and says the Cats will be one of the first four teams out, along with Alabama, Arizona State, and Virginia. Stevens says the Cats are one of three SEC teams on the bubble along with Ole Miss and Alabama, with this as their current resume:

3. Kentucky: Record: 17-8, RPI: 45
Plus: Won at Ole Miss, No 100+ losses
Minus: 0-4 vs. T50, Nine wins vs. 200+
At-large ranking: 39
Next two games: Vanderbilt (Feb. 20) | Missouri (Feb. 23)

The Cats can write their own story with a win over Vanderbilt tonight, setting up a huge showdown with Missouri on Saturday. A win over the Tigers, who beat Florida last night, could be the marquee win that Kentucky needs to secure their spot.

    That figurine has Robic’s hair….

Maybe the Cats can exhibit some heartbeat and a little passion tonight vs. Vandy but they haven’t demonstrated any aspect of their game that makes me think they can come away with a win against Mizzou. Hope I’m wrong and we see a different team this week. Thanks for what you do Mrs. T

All the predictions are assuming we’ll either get better or be just as bad. Tonight will tell a tale worth seeing.

If we lose tonight, and lose badly, there will be no NCAA. The last game should be all the message the team needs. If they cannot learn from it and improve without Noel, they’ll lose out.

  4. Stop Worrying Says:

Stop worrying. I for one have stopped worrying. We have the most recent championship in our bag and there are brighter days ahead. I’m going to just support this team (scream at them sometimes) and see where they go. It is what it is at this time. If we are left out, we probably deserve to be left out. If we get in, it will be fun for as long as it lasts.

Well at least we would have a great shot at winning the NIT!!! Let’s sing it: “Always look on the bright side of life!!!”

Again, why do we need these blog type posts. We know we’re not in, quit poking at the wound.

  8. STEVE! Says:

For the first time since Cal arrived, we have no great backcourt. After seeing what UT’s mediocre set of guards did to us, I’m afraid to think of what lies in store with Mizzou and the Gators.

  9. Steve Says:

I don’t know about his seedings but he has 12 teams going to Philadelphia for the 2-3rd rounds vs. 4 teams going to Dayton. Wonder if the NCAA knows? Can’t get to worked up as he’s a Gannett employee just like the C-J. Most of them I guess are stupid.
