Andy Katz and Miles Simon teamed up this morning on ESPN to talk about a number of things, including diving into the question “What’s next for Kentucky?” The two talked back and forth for a minute about Kentucky’s obvious defensive woes and shortcomings without the presence of Nerlens Noel. Neither said anything earth-shattering, but they did discuss Kentucky’s remaining SEC schedule and what they need to do, and what they expect them to do in the final 6 games.
Katz talked about the slate of games coming up for Kentucky. “Now looking at that schedule, you’ve got home games against Vanderbilt, Missouri, Mississippi State. Must wins. Then they end the season where they have to go to Arkansas, to Georgia, and home Florida.”
Simon then predicted that Kentucky will “go 3-3 down the stretch, at best. If they don’t beat Missouri or Florida, probably hard to get an NCAA bid.”
Andy Katz seemed to agree with the 3-3 prediction and added that, “They have to do something more in the SEC tournament.”
What are your predictions for Kentucky’s record in the final 6 games?

5&1 and Sec tourney champs
February 17th, 2013 at 12:36 pm
2-6.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:38 pm
0-7
February 17th, 2013 at 12:38 pm
Doesn’t that make you all proud? The pundits that had us preseason #3 in the country are now predicting a 3-3 finish best case scenario. How can this happen to the best program in the history of the sport?? The players have no pride or shame.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:42 pm
It depends on which team shows up….Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde. I hope the Later. 3-3. Go Cats
February 17th, 2013 at 12:47 pm
1-5, beating only Mississippi State. NIT here we come!!!
February 17th, 2013 at 12:47 pm
#5 I am afraid you are right.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:47 pm
UF game will be close, so lets go conservative and say 5-1
February 17th, 2013 at 12:49 pm
I hope KY turns down an NIT bid. The players shouldnt be rewarded for a lack luster season. Never thought I would say an NIT was a reward for KY.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:50 pm
I don’t believe this team will win another game this year… just don’t have enough players with enough heart.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:50 pm
I predict Harrow gets “Mono” again, breaks a nail, or gets a yeast infection.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:50 pm
10 UF will be a blow out of epic proportions. Worse than the UT loss.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:52 pm
the morning after that losss…. or having to read bad posts all through the weekend these days..
i never thought i’d long for the return of BTI
February 17th, 2013 at 12:54 pm
5-2 losses to Florida and @ bud Walton arena. place is tough to win this year. we’ll get to sec semifinals and make it extremely difficult for the committee.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:54 pm
Not to be a pessimist but I’d be elated if we went 3-3 in the last stretch. Hope I’m wrong though.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
Cal should let Polson and Mays continue to play, then start Hood, Lanter, and the towel boy.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
I think they finish 3-3, and then win 2 in the SEC tournament. Not enough to get in the dance, but accept an NIT bid as consolation.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:57 pm
2-4 to finish out year. Wins against Miss.St and Vandy. 1 win in SEC tournament and 1 win in NIT. Archie, Noel, Harrow won’t be back. IDK where Harrow goes but wont stay. Poythress 50/50. WCS/ Wiltjer and maybe Poythress join the current class. Julius Randle join UK. Fantastic potential 8/9 man rotation.

NEWS FLASH!! Lexington retailers working overtime today to place reorders for brown bags as they are expecting a big run up to Wednesday.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:58 pm
#16 and #17. Would either of you like to bet some money? You two are very optimistic.
February 17th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
Harrow=Soft/Scared, Goodwin=Out of Control/Selfish, Poythress=Soft/Looks Like Tarzan… Plays Like Jane, Cauley-Stein-Raw/Limited Skills, Mays=Good Shooter/But Can’t Do It Alone, Polson=Plays With Heart, Wilter-Defensive Liability/Good Shooter.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
Lots of doomsdayers on here. “Oh My Gosh” UK will never win another game. We are finished.” Of course you will all be back next year when we are ranked #1. You know what you are called!
February 17th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
21. They will be needed for barf bags after the game.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
24 Their performance at TN said all that needs to be said about this team like it or not. Your only as good as your last game…..just sayin
February 17th, 2013 at 1:05 pm
23. Sir, you nailed it…wouldn’t change any part of that.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
we use every minute of the shot clock. Then we keep the games within reach. No blowouts! Play all zone to hide the McD’s. 3&3 with 1 win in SEC. Bubble watch
February 17th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
#22 if it was any other team I would. I’m not pulling against them though. What kind of fan would I be if I stood to gain as the cats lose? Gimme a break, I’m still rooting for us, just hard to sheez.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:24 pm
4-2, no ncca bid, second round nit.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:25 pm
2-6 We win Miss. St and Vandy. Lose the rest and the Florida game will be bad enough to count it as two L’S!
February 17th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
Let the Womens Basketball team play their remaining games
February 17th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
2-4…Write it down.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:28 pm
I don’t know how we make the NCAA tourney WITHOUT winning the SEC tourney. Maybe the talent really is that bad across the country but wow, we really are not very good this year and the fact that they are even still discussing us as an at large bid blows my mind. I will still cheer for them because I’m a UK fan but not without alcohol from here on out, I made that mistake yesterday and regretted it.
When does Spring Football start again?
February 17th, 2013 at 1:30 pm
On that same note…good drinking game = every time AG runs somebody over.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:31 pm
I hate my garbage team.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:33 pm
Wins=0
Losses=6
Like all “notable” (ahem) Kentucky teams it is time to give this team their historical moniker. Here a few that come to mind …
Archie and the Jugheads.
Nerlens and the Heartless.
Team Grinch (because their collective heart is two sizes too small).
One and done … yes please!
Team Charmin.
The Young and the Gutless.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:33 pm
i hope we don’t have similar personalities next year. Although I can say with certainty that we cannot win a national championship with all five freshmen (no matter how talented).
February 17th, 2013 at 1:34 pm
I am sitting here watching the Tards game. I would take anyone in ther 8 deep over Goodwin, Harrow and Poythress.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:36 pm
@39, you HAVE to be a troll, a true UK fan would never say that EVEN if it were true.
February 17th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
I saw nothing yesterday that makes me believe this team can win even one more game. I think the ONLY chance we have is if Cal keeps Harrow, Goodwin and Poythress on the bench, maybe WCS too. Put in the bench guys who’ll run through a brick wall to get a loose ball, and we might have a chance. Our heartless NBA players who show no NBA skills couldn’t beat a really good physical high school team at this point.
February 17th, 2013 at 2:13 pm
Best case scenario: 2-4 (against Vandy and Miss St).
Worst case scenario: double-digit losses in each of the remaining games.
February 17th, 2013 at 2:24 pm
0-7
Lets not forget that we only beat Vandy by a couple with Nerlens. They just aren’t that good this year. Next year will be better.
February 17th, 2013 at 2:36 pm
this team has quit on Cal. It is plain as day. Anyone who thinks this team will suddenly get inspired and make a run is just whistling past the graveyard.
February 17th, 2013 at 2:54 pm
there is no heart on this team
February 17th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Historically, this team is going to be remembered by what happens through the next six games and conference tourny. Do they understand that?? While I am not going to holding my breath… I am going to tune in to find out.
February 17th, 2013 at 3:10 pm
The Cats are just BAD folks. No other way to coat it. I hope at least they find some inter feelings and fight if win or lose. Don’t give up guys Fight Fight Fight!!!!!
February 17th, 2013 at 3:12 pm
Oh my prediction 2-5 rest of season. Come on 2013/14!!
February 17th, 2013 at 3:52 pm
If they play like they did vs tn
0-6
February 17th, 2013 at 3:53 pm
2-4 rest of the SEC season and 1-1 in the SEC tourney and then 1-1 in the NIT. So 4-6 until the end of the season. 4-6 to end the year, 4-8 after injury to Noel (including Florida game).
February 17th, 2013 at 5:16 pm
If we have a 24,000 strong STAND and CHEER for 40 minutes. Why wouldn’t these CATS win all four of our home games. Have 6th man to push these Cats over the top. It is possible–
February 17th, 2013 at 5:19 pm
i think after next couple of games most commentors will think we got a chance.
February 17th, 2013 at 5:21 pm
This season has been tough to watch. I can’t believe I am saying this, but I can’t wait for football. It’ll be interesting to see who decides to stay and be part of quite possibly the most talented college basketball team ever. Can you imagine if Cal had 8-9 plyers in the rotation?
February 17th, 2013 at 5:57 pm
Best case through rose colored glasses, 5-1. Realistic through slightly less rose colored glasses, 4-2. Realistic, 3-3. 4-2 is possible if something clicks and Willie and a couple others figure it out. So, probably 3-3.
February 17th, 2013 at 8:43 pm
looks like a couple of our guys have quit on coach cal. i said this before nerlens went down. it’s hard for any team to finish strong without steady, productive play at pg
February 17th, 2013 at 9:43 pm
College Game-Day is coming Feb 23rd & it will be embarrassing…….
