Per a release from the University of Kentucky, Nerlens Noel has torn his ACL and will be out for the season.
According to the UK medical staff, surgery should be expected in the next two to three weeks. The normal timetable for recovery is estimated at six to eight months.
Get well soon, Nerlens.

February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
RIP 2013.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
I assume this means he would not be a lottery pick and would stay another year.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
That’s really a shame what a great kid and great player…. We enjoyed you here at BBN NN, hope you have a wonderful long nba career!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm

February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
he and Rondo need to rehab together
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
And to you’ll tht think this will make him come back it will not he’ll still be a high pick and he’ll still be gone
February 13th, 2013 at 1:45 pm
F$&K!!!! That sucks. Prayers for Nerlens
February 13th, 2013 at 1:46 pm
Damn….
February 13th, 2013 at 1:46 pm
#5 – He will still be a top 3-5 pick
February 13th, 2013 at 1:46 pm
It could have been worse! Hopefully he can get healthy and still get taken in the lottery. Get well soon big guy, you’ve earned a special place in our hearts.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
Really hate to hear that. Hang in there NN -
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
WOULD IT HELP IF WE GAVE HIM JON HOOD’S ACL?!?
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
I hate to say it people, but he is gone. There is no way he falls out of the top 5 even with an injured knee. It sucks we don’t get to seem him in blue one more time but just being a realist.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
He will still be gone.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
I’m still a top 5 pick (per NBA scouts). Blame the weak draft this year. I won’t be back.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
It is an interesting thought… It depends on how bad the injury was. I could see him being taken around #5 in this draft.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
See ya later 2013…..I’m skipping straight ahead to 2014.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
It may seem weird but I care more about the fact that Nerlens tore his ACL than I do about what it means for the rest of our season. Nerlens always played hard in every game and has given a lot back to the fans (which he certainly wasn’t obligated to do). I ***HATE*** that this has happened to him and now I worry about what it means for his draft stock.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
Get well soon Nerlens, I hope you comeback strong with a vengeance. What a huge blow to a great kid–
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
Has a lot of draft stock. Probably not a lottery pick on a torn ACL, but his ceiling is as high today as it was two days ago. Does he risk re-injuring and head back to college, or take the hit in his draft stock and go ahead and secure the nice paycheck while he can? Couldn’t hold it against him if he left with the amount of heart he displayed this season and it ended up being for naught.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
If I hear anything from Tipton……..
February 13th, 2013 at 1:48 pm
Train wreck of a season.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:49 pm
Lot of selfish people worried more about the season than the player. Get well Noel and good luck
February 13th, 2013 at 1:49 pm
Hate to see this as the reason he stays another year…. Get well Nerlans… See you next season!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:49 pm
Damn man, I hate to hear that. Get well soon Noel and keep your head up. BBN loves ya!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:49 pm
@#1 We are gonna be stacked next year!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:50 pm
Thank you, 29. Agreed.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:50 pm
Sad to hear this news. Great player, but even better person. Get well soon kid!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Hate to hear that news. Terrible blow for Noel. Not even thinking about the team right now. Season was in the tank anyway. Wishing Nerlens a smooth recovery. This is just awful.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
How about we rally around the team instead of sounding like a bunch of pussies??? U all are pathetic and give the real BBN a bad rep sometimes…Hope for a speedy recovery!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
The only thing I am concerned about is his status for the draft – how bad will this affect it? I think all the owners and coaches could see what he would bring to their game, so I really hope it would not knock him out of the lottery. BUT – will they be willing to take a chance and give the big money to a guy who just went through this type of surgery? I feel sick for him and his family. I think this just cemented my feelings about the 1anddone rule: the NBA should have no say in how a player chooses to lead his own career. IF the kid is ready for the NBA, they should not force him to attend college. Would Nerlens have been ready? Maybe not, but now he could be forever screwed just cause the a-holes running the NBA made this rule. I need to go throw up now.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Damn my heart breaks for this kid lost the number 1 pick because of this injury. N for those of you whose first thought is about the season you should be ashamed of yourselves this kids career should be the first you are concerned about
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
The only fun player to watch this season is out with an ACL. This is some serious shit… get well soon Nerlens!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
thanks for playing with Kentucky on your chest and playing FOR Kentucky. heal quickly big guy. best of luck with it all. (come on back…….)
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Been refreshing all morning. Hate that! Thanks for all you have give BBN Nerlens!! Speedy recovery to you! Prayers for a full recovery!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Haven’t felt this bad for a kid since probably Sam Bowie.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Poor Nerlens. Deserves much better than this. He tears his ACL trying to clean up a mess caused by a teammate’s lazy pass. Perfect picture of how the season has gone.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
He’s no good to John C anymore…bye bye
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
26— i agree i luv uk b-ball……but thats all it is b-ball…..get well soon NN…hope it all works out…..and this is why kids leave early….cant blame them one bit!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:51 pm
Thank you Nerlens!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
I personally do not care about the rest of the season or whether Nerlens comes back. My thoughts and prayers are with Nerlens and his family right now. Nerlens gave everything he had to UK and their fans, now it’s time for the fans to give to Nerlens. He has a long tough road ahead of him he will need all of the support he can get.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
This really sucks but look on the bright side he said he wanted to be a #1 pick in the nba draft i dont see him settling for less and he shouldnt i think he will stay an play another year along with the harrison twins an secure a championship and the #1pick in the 2014 draft .
February 13th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
Big Blue Nation is still with you Nerlens!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
Cards fan here. Hate to hear about Nerlens. Was one of my favorite UK players and loved watching him play. Hope he recovers well and does big things!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
This will have no affect on him being a lottery pick and he will NOT be back at UK. Write that down. No way he comes back.
This kid is a winner. Has a big heart. He is one of my favorite players of all time. I love his hustle. Definately a PTPer.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
How can you not care about the rest of the season! You are obviously not a UK fan. I hope Nerlens gets better, and I’ll be praying for him, but we still have games to play! Which just have to work harder.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
Get well soon Nerlens!
Guys, he will still get drafted and will never play for UK again
Guys get drafted in the 2nd round who won’t be out of europe for 2 years.
Do you honestly think NBA execs are going to pass on Nerlens?
No way. He is gone
Good luck to you Nerlens.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
46…thats the dumbest dam comment i ever heard…. go back to ur web site….TROLL
February 13th, 2013 at 1:54 pm
Nice Guys finish last… I feel for this guy.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:54 pm
Good luck, Nerlens. A lot of athletes have torn ACLs and gone on to long and productive professional careers. It was fitting that your last play of the season was one of trying to chase down a guard to prevent an easy basket, as you did so many times this year.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:54 pm
45- That’s the same thought I had when I saw Noel chasing that player down. Noel cleaning up again, except this time it didn’t end like it was suppose to.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:54 pm
Prayers with ya Nerlens. Great basketball player and even better person.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Very sorry to hear, but not shocking. Nerlens has the kind of fight in him that will be needed to recover and rehab this injury successfully. He will be yet another great representative of the BBN in the NBA next year. Thank you Nerlens you will be terribly missed but not forgotten.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Still a lottery pick, I’d say. He won’t likely play another game at UK. I just hope for a full recovery and long career for the young guy.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Well, it is now time for this team to grow up. Noel is not going to be walking through that door so we may as well stop looking for him. It will be interesting to see if the team steps up.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Nerlens….a BIG Thank You for your contributions this year. You will always have a special place in the BBN!!!!We love you!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Kenyon Martin tore his ACL late season and was still the #1 pick pick in the draft
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Its weird how the guy that carried the team on the court was carried off the court by that team
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
This is where we could REALLY use the two-year rule
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
He will drop a bit, but could someone who picks 6 or 7 in the draft really pass up their one chance to get a player like him? As for Nerlens, if he comes back to UK and gets it reinjured, maybe he has blown any chance of ever going pro. I think he has to go pro now.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Nerlens Noel. He played with Kentucky on his chest, and on his back.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:56 pm
Sorry to hear that. Keep ya head up Nerlens and thanks for giving BBN a wonderful season. Good luck with the rest of you career.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:56 pm
Makes you think…we’ve been relatively lucky as a program with regards to injuries. Last major injuries I can think of are Bogans in 03 and Anderson in 97.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:56 pm
Dammit. Very sad, but not unexpected considering the picture evidence of how badly his knee bent the wrong direction. Was a joy to watch you in blue, big fella. Good luck in the NBA.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:57 pm
Prayers to Nerlens. Get this “trending”: #NerlensStrong
February 13th, 2013 at 1:57 pm
Based on what I saw last night, we are DOOMED in the middle. Willie puts out effort but is like a bill in a china shop when he gets the ball low. He’ll have 2 fouls early every game he plays in. I think Cal will have to go zone with our weakness in the middle. If not, guards will blow right by our guys and go to the hole every time down.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
#67, great comment,, you should be a sports writer.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
Good luck with your recovery Noel. Can’t imagine the disapointment you are going through right now. You always played with a lot of heart! Good luck in the NBA but you’ll always be a UK WILDCAT to me.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
If the Mariners will give Felix Hernandez 175 million for 7 years when they know he has elbow problems,,,a smart NBA team will grab Noel.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
The BBN wishes all the best to you Nerlens. Get well soon. We are all berhind you 100%
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
At least we can name this season on Noel getting hurt and not the fact the we suck
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
jeff goodman says the nba guys he spoke with still think nerlens is a 1-5 pick.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
I knew this as soon as I saw the photo. Exactly the way my knee bent when I tore mine many moons ago. I hate this for him. Here’s hoping he will recover 110% and this won’t hurt his career.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
#46 can die in a fire
February 13th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
Hart and sole of the team. He will have to lead from the bench moving forward. Hang in there guys the real fans are still behind you. Now more than ever.
Go BIG BLUE!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 pm
Thank God the injury wasn’t anything more serious…
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 pm
Thanks for all the memories and hustle big fella, get well soon.
Depressing day for BBN and a great, GREAT kid.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 pm
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 pm
God Bless Noel…sad to hear for a guy that looked like he worked his ass off on the court and gave the team and the fans all he could. Speedy recovery…
February 13th, 2013 at 2:00 pm
I feel like the entire BBN should do something to show their support on GameDay….Coordinate some kind of effort to show how much he means to us.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:00 pm
39 – you’re an idiot. The NBA doesn’t force anybody to do anything. If you’re a player coming out of high school, you can go to college, go to Europe, or just train independently and still go to the NBA. Most players find that the easiest way to get from high school to the NBA is a one year stop in college ball. Their choice, not the NBA’s.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:00 pm
McLemore, Shabazz, Zeller, Oladipo, are the only guys I would take ahead of an injured Nerlens.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:01 pm
#46
I hope you die alone in a bed wearing a crap filled diaper that no one has changed for 2 days
February 13th, 2013 at 2:02 pm
If you think he is coming back – then you are crazy. His best bet is to leave rather than showcase his talents in Lexington for another year. He will still be a top 10 pick since the draft is so weak.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:02 pm
My favorite player this year by far. Really fun to watch as he gave it 110% every time he was on the court. If the rest of the team just played with 50% of his hustle and determination we would have been a top 5 team this year. Really sad to see him go, knee injuries are the worst.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:02 pm
This team needs a tight end or a defensive end from the football team to patrol the middle. Stoops, send us some reinforcements.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:03 pm
Kid shouldn’t come back to Kentucky; he should have been allowed to go directly to the NBA out of HS. My prayer is that he will still be a top pick and fulfill his dreams. Dark day in the Bluegrass…
February 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
In A way this may be a blessing in disguise: Everyone in the NBA has said his main knock is how skinny he is… you give a kid like this with his determination 6-8 months where all he can do is work on his body he is liable to come back lookin beastly, in the same way that Derrick Rose is going to.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
Oh no poor Noel that stinks. I hate that for him. He must b heart broken. I feel so bad for him. He will b ok after surgery and he will b back at uk I think next year to play. He’s in our thoughts & prayers. I am a big blue fan I know the team will pull together and support Noel. Whether we win or lose. We r UK we r big blue nation. We r #1 no matter what
February 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
90-If you live in a glass house you shouldn’t throw stones. The NBA is the one and only reason that you can’t go from high school to the NBA. That is a fact! With that said why would a kid want to move out of the country away from their family where they don’t speak the language for a year with the possibility of getting hurt anyway?
February 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
Those saying we need a 2 year rule are just being more selfish. You want these kids an extra year. It isn’t what is best for the kid. 90, you are an idiot. The NBA FORCED this rule on the NCAA so these kids get publicity before being drafted to a losing team.
There should be no rule so John C misses on a couple of guys who decide to go pro at the last second. Shove it.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:04 pm
I’m actually relieved it was JUST an ACL, as terrible as that is, it could have been so much worse, a career ender. I’m confident he’ll come back as strong as ever, never underestimate the power of youth plus with the example of Adrian Peterson this year. Used to be a torn ACL meant a year of recovery, now it’s down to 6-8 months. He’ll get the best treatment available and be ready to go next year…in the NBA. As he should. He’s one of my favorites and I want what’s best for him, go pro Nerlens, and BBN will always have you back and love it when you come back to visit.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
I feel horrible for Noel. It’s a terrible situation for him. On another note, here’s how it make affect UK next season:
The total number of allowed Men’s Basketball NCAA DIV I scholarships per team = 13
As you can see below, there is no way we can offer a scholarship to Wiggins, Randle or Gordon unless one the following things occur:
-At least one player from this years team goes pro (less likely now with Noel’s injury)
-Jon Hood transfers for his senior year (unlikely)
-Or, a scholarship is pulled from a player like Hood or Polson (this would be wrong in my opinion)

Summary: The “failure to launch” efforts of this years team and our premature offers to non-franchise players has made it nearly impossible to capitalize on the “difference maker” players of the ’13-’14 class (Wiggins, Randle, Gordon). In my opinion this entire situation was mismanaged. The UK ’13-’14 class could have been the greatest class composed in the history of NCAA basketball. It was ours for the taking, but now our hands are tied because this years team has failed to launch. In all honestly, I still think will probably win the ’13-’14 championship, but it will not be as epic as it could have been and for that I am disappointed. Cal has said he wants us to be the Gold Standard. The Gold Standard isn’t about just winning National Championships, it’s about making history. I think next years class will go down as the greatest class in history, but only IF we can somehow land Wiggins and/or Randle/Gordon.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
BBN behind NN!
The best thing moving forward this team can do is rally around their ‘leader by example’ and dedicate the remainder of the season to him and play with a higher purpose.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
Good Luck Kid…..But wait, These guys left playing don’t deserve to be written off. I don’t think were the team we were without him but sometimes adversity breeds amazing things.Calapari is a great coach and we are still the BBN.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:08 pm
# 52( cards fan) thanks for the kind words. Proves that a persons life is always more important that a game, and a rivalry.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:09 pm
102 – Only reason Polson got a scholly this year is because one was available….he’s still a walk-on player. I personally expect Hood to go elsewhere.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:09 pm
noel gave everything he had to kentucky and the BBN, including his knee. if that ain’t christ-like, i don’t know what is. let’s be sure to circle the wagons around him in the difficult coming months.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:10 pm
I just want to say THANKS to Nerlens for coming to UK and giving 10,000 percent every game and looking forward to your brilliant career in the NBA.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:10 pm
102- UR an IDIOT! Nerlens is still going pro… and John Hood likely will not come back….and Cal will not give Polson a Scholly next year…
NO ONE NEEDS TO WORRY ABOUT SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER CAL!!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
This type of injury all but assures that he will be declaring for the draft; if he came back next year and re-injured himself and ended his basketball career entirely it clearly would have been a terrible decision. As it stands, he’ll likely drop to around 5th in the draft this year, which is also about the best he could hope for if he was in the draft next year. This way he is at least financially secure, and that(coupled with his health) is more important than anything in his situation.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
what 12) said.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:13 pm
#66 said it: Kenyon Martin broke his leg and tore ligaments in the Conference USA tournament and was still the #1 pick in the 2000 NBA draft. With much longer to heal, rehab and rebuild himself, Nerlens Noel is still a lock as a Top 5 pick, maybe even top 3. He will not — and should not — return. As Matt said on the radio this morning, the guy’s already given his all and put his career at risk for UK once. It’s crazy to ask/expect him to do it again. Forever a fan, Nerlens. Go get yours.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:13 pm
Nerlens, our hearts are with you and lots of prayers for a swift recovery! When Nerlens went down last night, my heart was in my throat and could have cared less about the rest of the game. Took laptop to bed hoping for news all night. Could not sleep and woke up early to look for news on KSR. As I just got the news, tears were rolling down my face. Family from KY to GA have been texting and calling all day asking if I’ve heard news about Noel. Everyone cares when one of our own goes down. Whether or not Noel ever puts on another UK uniform, our hearts are with him wishing him the best life has to offer because he has worn blue and because we want their dreams to come true. Wishing all that for Nerlens!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:13 pm
Prayers for ya NN! Thanks for all the hard work you put into being a cat. It wouldn’t surprise me if you bounced back even stronger. I pray that you will be successful in whatever the future brings. Again thank you and you was a joy to watch!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:14 pm
Needless, I love you man, you are family, and I enjoy your ethics on and off the court. Your positive attitude and your will make you a champion. We are all proud to have you in the family, as well as everyone else that puts on that Jersey and goes to war with us. We can all stand to emulate you, and would be better people for it. I am a huge fan, you always have my support, and I wish you all the best in your recovery.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:14 pm
All of those saying he is coming back next year – JUST STOP!! It’s not happening! He is still a top 5 pick and may still even be the #1 pick. Athletes can fully recover from this kind of injury and Nerlens would be ready to go by the time training camps start for the NBA. He’s gone folks. He will never play another game for UK.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:15 pm
I think Josh is a real dick.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:16 pm
Stay strong, Nerlens.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:16 pm
@66…martin had a broke leg
February 13th, 2013 at 2:18 pm
46, That is an assbag of a comment. I hope you’re not Truth that calls the show. No kid is this program is disposable, you however are. Suck it mofo.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:18 pm
1 and done Rule is stupid.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:19 pm
Broken leg and torn ankle ligaments. Still and all, Nerlens has a much longer time to recover, and orthopedic surgery is 13 years better…

February 13th, 2013 at 2:20 pm
This does not bode well for Kentucky, all fans will be on your side Nerlens.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:20 pm
I always thought Cauley-Stein was going to come back. However now he is going to get all of the playing time he can handle with the opportunity to impress scouts even more, and i’ll be he grows a ton. The likely hood that he ends up going to the NBA may have shot up with this awful injury.

Great idea 89!!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:20 pm
Nerlens, you were a joy to watch play. I hope this is only a small bump in the road for you on your way to your dreams. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:22 pm
Well said 49 (Mattcat68). It was apparent weeks ago this season was not going anywhere. I just wanted to get the season over with and clear out the players that really didn’t want to be here. Unfortunately it didn’t end soon enough, but with Nerlen’s work ethic he will be playing in the NBA next year making lots of money.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:23 pm
Breaks my heart..
February 13th, 2013 at 2:26 pm
First off, hope Noel gets better real soon. How can anyone even think that Nerlens won’t enter the draft? Seriously? A guy who tore an acl just won the NFL MVP award while playing a position that is MURDER on your legs/knees. Seriously? It’s not 1973 (and not to say Noel isn’t facing a tough rehab and painful injury) a torn ACL isn’t a career ending injury. It’s a 6-8 month injury.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:28 pm
102. Derek Willis will be on scholly. Polson will not if we need his. There is also the chance that Hood transfers elsewhere to play as a grad student like Mays did with us this year.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:28 pm
124. Good Point
February 13th, 2013 at 2:30 pm
Now is the time for the rest of the team to show us what they are make of. Next few games will be telling.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:30 pm
102 – you spent all that time to write the dumbest post!
Like already mentioned, Polson was and will be a walk on again.
and Nerlens IS NOT WALKING THRU THE RUPP TUNNEL EVER AGAIN!! He is and should be NBA bound. He’d be absolutely insane to come back another year.
Stop bashing Cal about ANYTHING you loser!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:30 pm
#90 ATLCat – no, you’re the idiot. I know they have those choices, but in order to stay on the radar, the only option is college or Europe. How does Europe work out for those who choose that route? … yeah, that’s what I thought. One year of college hoops is what will get them the the most advantage, so that’s what they choose. Sitting out 1 year with independent training will help them personally, sure, but not their draft stock. Get your head out of your a** and stop sucking up to the NBA, little troll. The one and done rule is BS, and everyone knows it. If a kid chooses a commitment to college, then he needs to fully commit to it, but if they want the NBA, it should be an option – period.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:31 pm
102 – Settle down. Have you looked at a mock draft? Or do you understand how the draft works? Right now Noel, Goodwin, and Poythress are all consensus lottery picks, and several boards have Cauley-Stein as a lottery pick as well. Maybe if we’re lucky, one of those guys will be like Terrance Jones and decide to stay – but all four? – no way. Just because Kentucky has lost a few more games than expected this year doesn’t mean NBA GMs won’t want to get these guys on their rosters while they’re available.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:31 pm
Damn this must be how the TARDS feel every year lol
February 13th, 2013 at 2:32 pm
Man, it’s easy to see in hindsight, this team rode Nerlens into the ground. I found the final gesture of his teammates carrying him off the floor to be a mockery of the entire season. Reminds me of the season or two in which Patrick Patterson was the workhorse. Makes me sad.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:33 pm
Get well soon Nerlens! We all love you and appreciate everything you have done for the University of Kentucky and BIG BLUE NATION. God Bless.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:34 pm
So sorry to watch what happened to you, big guy. You have truly been a tremendous ambassador in the Blue. You played with enormous heart every game and showed a champions heart off of the court in giving to others. I will continue to pray for a sppedy recovery for you and that God will richly bless you in your future endeavors; whatever they may be. While I would love to see you anchor the 2014 team as the “seasoned veteran”, I also understand that there comes a time when you must do what is best for you. You certainly gave your best for the team!! Rest well Nerlens, I am looking forward to seeing you along the sidelines rooting for the Blue!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:35 pm
Good luck to Nerlens you were truly the brightest light on this team. Having said that can we acknowledge that the Florida ball boy is to blame. The tape clearly shows he slipped on wet floor; it was not the goal that caused this injury.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:36 pm
131 – I couldn’t agree more
102 – We’ve established that
121 – A man of few words
127 – Good call out
134 – You tell him Soul Sista!!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:36 pm
102 you get the award for dumbest poster. And that’s saying a lot around these parts. Why would Archie, Alex, and Nerlens come back when they are projected lottery? Even WCS is projected to go top 20 and if he capitalizes on this time w out Noel he could move up. After seeing Nerlens go down last night, they’d be stupid to throw away a mil or so to come back and ride the pine. The draft is weak this year, they are gone.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:38 pm
Correction 133 – We’ve established that
February 13th, 2013 at 2:38 pm
Wishing a speedy and full recovery for Nerlens. With this news, the fat lady has sung for this season. But I keep reminding myself….It could be much worse. It was only 4 short years ago that we were suffering through the Bully Cluelesspee experiment.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:42 pm
NN Is gone,I agree,He will still be a top 5 pick…BUT…to compare his torn ACL to Kenyon martins broke leg and torn ligament in his foot, does not do justice to the situation NN is in…Rehab from ACL is usually around 1 year(Adrin Petterson not included)….Hope he recovers fast and lives his NBA dream….
February 13th, 2013 at 2:51 pm
Thank you Noel for giving it your all every game!
Get well soon and best wishes to whatever you decide.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:53 pm
Well that ends the season for this team.
NIT BOUND!
I don’t see Poythress entering the draft.
Goodwin will go.
A huge shift in attitudes will have to come about for this team to do anything but be a first weekend NCAA loss or NIT Bound.
But next year is going to be fun.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:55 pm
There isn’t a prayer in hell that Poythress will be a lottery pick by the end of the year.
Well, I guess there is but DAMN that means this class sucks a$$!
February 13th, 2013 at 2:55 pm
Good luck to Noel!
February 13th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Prayers to Noel. Well at least I dont have to decide between fishing the spawn or watching Basketball. Maybe I’ll get the 14lb this year.
February 13th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Unfortunately, Noel had to sacrifice himself so the others on the team will come together and start getting hungry. I will be very surprised if you don’t actually see improvements across the board with every player. I don’t think NBA GMs and scouts will discard what they’ve already seen this year. Over 100 blocks, great motor, almost a double/double guy. For that, we should be thankful this didn’t happen in Dec. The execs know his potential. He’ll be rehabbing soon and he’ll be in the NBA sooner than later. It would be silly for him to stick around and risk another injury. Go Cats!
February 13th, 2013 at 3:05 pm
Im sorry #150,I didnt hear you I was looking at our CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY from last year….
February 13th, 2013 at 3:08 pm
#Gottaget9 so he might come back and finish what he wanted to do?
February 13th, 2013 at 3:14 pm
This is terrible news…..but after witnessing his reaction and screaming last night I assumed this would be the outcome.
February 13th, 2013 at 3:14 pm
I feel bad for Nerlons, Coach Cal and the UK Basketball team, but I no sympathy for the UK Fans or the writers on this web site . I have seen the way you idiots celebrate and “high five” each with every U of L injury we have endured over the past 3 years.
I hope Nerlons comes back better than ever and the team can overcome this, but that’s as far as I can go.
February 13th, 2013 at 3:19 pm
Hopefully he makes a full recovery and is able to live is dream in the NBA. It was great to watch him every game in Blue!
February 13th, 2013 at 3:24 pm
Thank you for your deacation to the BBN. Most of all thank you for the way you went to see little sick children every week, you didnt have to but you did. You, Sir are a Man of Honor. Now Sir take care of YOU !!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 3:28 pm
150. My guess is that Zeller is breathing a big sigh of relief knowing that he won’t have to face Nerlens in the tourney and get exposed by UK for the second year in a row.
February 13th, 2013 at 3:50 pm
155 lol at you thinking we want your sympathy. And please link a page where the writers of this site have celebrated any Louisville injury. They have made posts making fun of Rick’s practice methods since his players get injured so much, but never have they posted anything celebratory about a UofL player getting injured. If I’m wrong, link it and prove it.
February 13th, 2013 at 3:54 pm
Wow – totally feels like we were robbed of watching such a fine young man continue his season with the Big Blue. We are all pulling for you – remembering injured players of the past – and wanting only the best for you. Thank you for all the memories of a short but memorable season.
February 13th, 2013 at 4:14 pm
So sorry to hear this about such a good player. I wish him the best and a great recovery. I love to watch him play. hang in their nerlens you will be back and with a vegence. Prayers for you. The bbn loves you.
February 13th, 2013 at 4:15 pm
158. Rockfield, explain to me how Zeller got exposed by UK. More like outplayed Mr. Davis. Stat Line from 12/10 game: Zeller: 37 min, 11 pts (4-8 FG), 3-3 FT, 7 reb (5 off.), 1 blk, 1 stl, 2 fouls & Win. Davis: 24 min, 6 pts (3-4), 0-1 ft, 9 reb (2 off.), 3 blk, 3 stl, 4 fouls. Line from 3/23 game: Zeller: 27 min, 20 pts (9-14), 2-2 ft, 7 reb (3 off.), 2 asst, 3 fouls. Davis: 25 min, 9 pts (2-5), 5-6 ft, 12 reb (2 off.), 2 asst, 2 fouls & Win.
So they both had a win but Zeller gets exposed even though he outpoints Davis in both games, plays more minutes, and has more offensive rebounds. Sound logic.
February 13th, 2013 at 4:22 pm
I remember when Mike Mara went down with the ACL last year, and this year. Very similar, tough loss my heart goes out for the kid.
February 13th, 2013 at 4:45 pm
Come back strong, Nerlens! Thoughts and prayers are with you for a full recovery.
February 13th, 2013 at 4:54 pm
As an IU fan, I want to you guys to know that even we liked watching this kid play. So fun to watch and so much talent. We went through a similar thing with Maurice Creek (who ended up with two more catastrophic injuries and can barely contribute now) and it just hurts. You hurt for the kid and for your team and it’s tough to deal with. Hopefully the team will rally around him and make him proud. Send him to Adrian Petersons doctor and he’ll average ten blocks a game next year. Good luck to you guys the rest of the way and I hope his recovery goes well. Maybe he’ll stick around!
February 13th, 2013 at 5:51 pm
GALL DAMIT
February 13th, 2013 at 6:19 pm
All I can say is when he becomes an NBA star we can always say he played for our CATS. GO BIG BLUE. SALUTE to The FLAT TOP FELLER

I was just thinking the other day about how much I need to appreciate Noel because he won’t be around long but it sucks that it had to be cut even shorter.
Hope he has a fast and good recovery.
